Being Unique – resource app for LGBT community
Jun 5, 2015 9:18 AM –
Being Unique is a resource app for LGBT (lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender) community, or someone interesting in learning more. There are various articles plus a curated streaming music feature. Discover more about the app in this review.
Tested on: Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge
Pros & Cons:
- Simple app with educational resource articles catered towards LGBT community!
- Music first launch of app seems misleading to the core features of the app.
Initially, Being Unique seems like a new streaming music app at first launch as you are presented with a short curated list of music you can stream via SoundCloud. However misleading, this is not the core function of the app. What is key- the educational resource articles and news feeds curated throughout the app.
In each category there are just over a score of articles which are categorized by sections. For example, you can find content such as “My Parents Tease Me for Being Lesbian”, “What Causes Homophobia?”, “I Came Out to My Best Friend Who is Bisexual” or “How to Respect a Transgender Person.” Much of the content overlaps categories such as “How to Get Over a Break Up.” There is planned to be a social networking feature but it was not available at the time of review. For now you submit your profile photo, upload a video and write text description of yourself. Lastly, there is a news feed from the lgbtfeed.com with more online content.
