DroidIris is a visually stunning application used for finding videos and images. It allows you to see the search results visually, in the style of the Cool Iris 3D Gallery, and utilizes the Internet’s most powerful search engines. It presents the search results in a paginated format with cool 3D transitions and thumbnails of each image or video.
In order to move from one page of search results to another all you have to do is swipe your finger left or right to fling the page away and bring up another. When you reach the limit of loaded pages the application automatically begins to populate a new series of pages of search results.
In order to view an image full screen you just need to tap on the image you wish to view. This blows up the image and sharpens the detail on it, so that you are viewing the image as it would be viewed on it’s home page without all the clutter. While zoomed in on a image you can pinch-to-zoom in order to get a closer look. You can also continue to swipe up, down, left, and right in order to see other images without having to zoom back out. The only limitation to this is that you cannot swipe to load new pages of search results while zoomed in.
Finally, you can adjust the search engine based on the results you desire. If you wish to restrict the image search to only show large images for your tablet device you can. You can also pick the search engine you prefer from Google, Bing, Yahoo, YouTube, and Vi.Sualize.us.

DroidIris is extremely useful. This single application is better than all the competing applications I have ever used for the Android OS. This application has the entire Internet within it’s grasp in order for you to discover content relevant to what you need. Other applications like Androlib Wallpapers or Xoom Abstract Wallpapers are limited to only user generated content. DroidIris can literally find any image or video on the Internet and make it into an incredibly easy to use 3D gallery, in order for you to discover the content that you want.
Ease of Use:
This application is extremely easy to use and mirrors the basic controls already built into the Android OS. Anyone who has ever used an Android device could pick up this application and use it without any problems whatsoever. This is easily one of the most simplistic yet powerful applications I have ever seen.
I will be using DroidIris from now on as the only application I use in order to find wallpapers for my devices. It is easier to use and more powerful than any competing application that I have seen to date. The video search feature is still not quite as refined as the image search. Since videos can only be found through YouTube.
However, the YouTube search feature in DroidIris is the best way I have seen YouTube displayed through any application on any device except the native YouTube application on the Motorola Xoom. I would highly recommend this application to those wishing to search YouTube, who do not own a device currently running Honeycomb.
The interface for DroidIris is ridiculously easy to use. The search results gallery is navigated by a series of easy to use gestures. The interface is clean and visually stunning. There are no annoying ads in the application. I love the way this application works and operates.
It also comes with the ability to change the search parameters in order to only find images of a certain size. This is particularly useful when trying to find a wallpaper the appropriate size for your device. The application also has the ability to turn on or off safe search so that you can prevent yourself from seeing adult material in your searches.
The only thing the interface is lacking is more search engines. It would be nice to be able to input your own engine, but that is most likely impossible due to the design of the application. However, the developer is currently working on adding on more search engines with the next update of the application.
