I Must Run is an exciting infinite progression game in a similar style to games like Doodle Jump! In I Must Run you are an escaped inmate trying to run from rooftop to rooftop in order to escape the police. The game features infinite progression with scoring based on the length of your progression through the game, it features hardware controls for the Xperia Play and touch screen controls for other phones, as well an excellent comic style theme with an epic soundtrack.
The story is that you are an escaped prisoner who was wrongly imprisoned and needs to get back to his wife. In order to return to her you need to jump from roof top to roof top until you finally get back home. Unfortunately, as you are running along obstacles are in your way which you must punch or slide through in order to reach her again.
In order to control the character you will need to jump, punch, and slide through and over obstacles. In order to jump you need to either press the “X” button on the Xperia Play or tap the upper portion of the screen on your touchscreen phone. To punch obstacles you will need to press the “Square” button or tap the right portion of your device’s touchscreen. Finally, to slide you will need to either press “Down” on the D-pad or tap the lower left hand corner of your touchscreen. As you are running through the levels you will gain extra points for destroying multiple obstacles in a row or for making close call landings on the rooftops. The farther you progress through the level the more points you will earn.
I Must Run also features a comic style visual interface. When you initially launch the game the instructions for how to play are displayed in the style of an action comic. Each of the controls are displayed as a speech bubble within the comic, before you enter the game. The game itself is displayed as a very basic action comic. All of the graphics are displayed in the style of a stick figure style action comic. The animations are fluid and especially unique is the way the character goes in to a roll after landing a large jump. All these minute details come together to create a positive game play experience.
The musical track is also involving and suitable of an action comic. It is intense and fills the player with a sense of urgency for their time playing the game. The soundtrack never varies, even after long periods of progression. However, this does not detract from the game play experience.

I Must Run Instructions
I Must Run is actually a pretty enjoyable game. The game play is repetitive and would not be enjoyable for periods of an hour or more to most individuals. However, this game is not designed for extended periods of play but when you are looking for a fun game to play for a few minutes to waste time I Must Run is excellent! I was very surprised by how much I enjoyed this game, because many of the reviews in the market were negative. Yet this game is extremely enjoyable and can be obtained for free with Xperia Play support, which is a rarity for this device.
I Must Run has an average level of addictiveness. The game is fun to play when you are looking to waste time, but lacks the factors needed for long periods of play time. In order to make this game more addictive the developer should incorporate various levels of game play with an optional endless mode. This system could be similar to games like Abduction, which allows for the infinite play mode, but also offer a level progression option.
The graphics are colorful and have a distinct comic book style. They create a unique atmosphere in the game which enhances the enjoyment factor. One possible addition that could be made in this area of the game would be little action bubbles like “Bang” or “Pow” (like the classic Batman TV show) when taking out obstacles.
Accelerometer, Vibration & Sound:
I Must Run makes no use of either the accelerometer or vibration, but it does have an excellent musical track. The music adds to the urgency of the game and draws the player deeper in to the game. Unfortunately, there are no sound effects for jumping or punching obstacles; perhaps additions to the sound track will be made in future versions.
