Origami Live Wallpaper – a gorgeous geometric LWP to personalize your Android!
Aug 30, 2013 11:54 AM –
Origami Live Wallpaper is a gorgeous geometry-based live wallpaper that is as customizable as it is good looking. Featuring oodles and oodles of settings, you can make the wallpaper as unique as you like. If you’re a fan of minimalist triangles/geometry style wallpapers this is the app you’re looking for.
Tested on: Nexus 4
Pros & Cons:
- Lots of customizations!
- Various pre-set themes!
- 3D scrolling effect for some themes!
- Auto Changer!
- Performance tweaks!
Origami Live Wallpaper is pretty awesome if you’re generally a fan of clean, minimalist yet stylish wallpapers. It essentially provides the platform to create your own animated geometric wallpapers. Principally built up from rhombs (multiple rhombuses), the wallpaper is a sway of shapes and edges, all of which are smoothly animated.
One fear I always have with a live wallpaper is just how much they are going to annihilate my battery during the day. In Origami Live Wallpaper there are loads of settings to minimalize this. You can reduce frame rate and over all performance. You can also limit the animation and effect, which means the wallpaper is less power hungry. While I’d expect to sacrifice a little battery in favor of a gorgeous live wallpaper, I’ve been surprised at how little impact it has had. I do ensure the wallpaper design isn’t too flamboyant and I can’t really tell the difference in battery usage.
Options options options! The app is massively customizable with loads of different options. If a thousand people bought this app, they could easily have a thousand different wallpapers, it’s that flexible. You can adjust the camera movement- as you drag your home screens from side to side. There are 15 primary themes to choose from, including ‘Chaos’ which allows for a 3D effect scroll. The wallpaper is animated- it kind of flickers- and you can set the speed at which this happens. You can also adjust the camera zoom angle too, meaning you can go close up to your wallpaper.
A feature I love is the Auto Changer. Here you can have the wallpaper change at intervals, meaning your wallpaper never stays exactly the same. You can adjust the method the app finds the next style- either random or your own customized styles. You can alter the time interval for when this occurs too, in addition to whether this is real time or time taken up with your homescreen activated. Very clever indeed!
There are cool performance tweaks too- essential for maximizing battery, even if you’re using this live wallpaper. You can adjust both FPS and scrolling FPS, so you have even deeper control. Right, check out the screenshots below and check it out for yourself.

For making your homescreen look awesome, this is a great wallpaper. So many live wallpapers fall terribly short in terms of functionality, you’re lucky if you get a few themes, but Origami Live Wallpaper is very powerful and highly customizable, with loads of options to choose from.
Ease of Use:
There are lot of preferences to select, but the menu system is straightforward. As with any wallpaper conundrum, if you’re a bit stuck, check out our Android 101 which provides an easy-to-follow tutorial. That said, there’s also a tutorial in-app if you’re still really puzzled.
Every time you switch your homescreen on, you’re essentially using the app.
The interface is very simple to navigate, making the app easy to use and intuitive.

Should you Download Origami Live Wallpaper? If you like and use live wallpapers, and really enjoy clean, minimalist and beautiful wallpapers generally, this is an app you have to try. I personally like geometric wallpapers; triangles, rhombs, lines, circles etc., I just think they look great and do not clutter your homescreen with needless images which obscure your app icons. This, for me, is one of the best live wallpapers I’ve played with, and I’d definitely recommend checking it out.
