- Smooth visual experience!

- Lots of levels!
- Plenty of missions and enemies!
- Awesome sound!
Space Eon is a new space shooting adventure for Android. You take to the cockpit of a highly manoeuvrable fighter as or traverses a series of tunnels. Within these tunnels are various aliens and an assortment of obstacles to avoid. You move your space ship using your Android devices accelerometer controls. To shoot, simply aim and tap the screen. The game is easy to play but it is often tricky navigating through the right spaces in the tunnel.
There is a rolling narrative through the game which is played out during cut scenes between each level. You converse with a General and other characters as you progress. This initially starts off as a kind of tutorial, but the story continues and aims to introduce each level.
You accumulate cash as you complete each level and these can be spent on upgrades and power ups. I’ve generally found you earn enough to progress OK, so you’re not left hopeless outgunned. Additionally, some powerups can be picked up mid-level, which is useful if you need a boost to help finish off a particularly stubborn baddie. I’ve played quite a few levels so far and while the learning curve is quite steep, it’s a nice challenge that engages you to the point you want to try again if you at first fail.
The game reminded me a little of Asteroid 2012 and a little of Return Zero, both games which we have reviewed before.

Space Eon – Narrative with the General
Space Eon – Face off against aliens
Space Eon – Third person view
Space Eon – Avoid obstacles
Space Eon – 3D graphics
Space Eon – Retro explosions
Space Eon – Battle with enemies
Space Eon – In level boosts
Space Eon – Life bar at the top
Space Eon – Mission complete
The game is fun, and most definitely challenging. The learning curve is quite steep and you have to cleverly out manoeuvre the enemies and their rapid laser fire.
I found the game to be quite addictive. While it’s a good game which kinda makes you want to try again and again, it’s perhaps too similar to games you have played before to leave a lasting impact.
The graphics are 3D and very smooth. They retain a kind of retro charm and the menu system is pretty old-school PC. I should mention that the video above is choppy as hell compared to the real game, which has a much higher frame rate.
Accelerometer, Vibration & Sound:
The accelerometer is very accurate and works perfectly with the gameplay. The music too is excellent, ideal for the action-packed levels.
