May 27, 2015 7:13 AM –
Tasks & Notes for MS Exchange is a fully feature GTD app for Android. Sync tasks and notes between Exchange. There are plenty of features, we’ll focus on the top features in this review.
Price: Free 14-day trial, Offers in-app purchases
Tested on: Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge
Pros & Cons:
- Loaded with features!
- Full tasks and notes sync with Exchange ActiveSync servers!
- Minor: requires Microsoft Exchange account.
- Minor: voice note input workflow could use improvement.
Tasks & Notes for MS Exchange offers virtually everything you’ll need to sync tasks and notes with Exchange ActiveSync servers. Please note: it is required to have a Microsoft Exchange account in order to set up and use the app. This is where my only minor quibble resides as not all potential users may have one. Therefore the rest of this review is geared only towards ActiveSync users.
Upon initial usage you will have to setup your Exchange credentials and login. Thereafter your tasks will sync from your account and/or you can create new tasks. The editor includes a variety of options such as:
- Title entry
- Choose folder type
- Due date
- Completion status
- Privacy settings
- Notes area supports WYSIWYG editor (text formatting)
Once tasks are saved (based on due date if set) you will notice which status it resides in; All, In Progress, Active, Overdue, Completed, Tomorrow, by Week, or by Month. Simply swipe or tap through these statuses for quick filtering. Additionally there are sorting options by title, due date and priority. Further organization can be found in the menu to toggle between Tasks and Notes or create your own labels, i.e. Work, Personal, etc. Input entry can be done by voice, however, I find the button to be oddly squeezed towards the bottom right of the screen and the add new button. It is also only useful for voice typing the title and not suitable for full voice commands of all options when adding a task or note. Lastly, you can search through items as well.
Under the Settings menu reside many granular options to toggle including the ability to passcode protect information, change themes, novel features like shake to delete, calendar integration, reminders, local backups and plenty more. There is a widget you can place on the home screen as well for a quick glance at tasks or check them off.
