Mistake #1. Do not Waste Resources on Late Game Heroes

With the advent of many important buffs now coming to the game, it’s not that difficult to wipe out enemies till Floor 16 of the tower. As a new player, your goal should be to recruit strong heroes that will give good returns until you find someone better. This usually means heroes that are good right from the beginning, and do not falter off in the mid-end game. Some heroes that we would like to recommend are:

• Yihwa Yeon (SSR)
• Hoaqin (SSR)
• Bam (SSR)
• Khun Aguero (SSR)
• Endorsi (SSR)

Mistake #2. Upgrading Shinsu Links of Only 1 Element

Shinsu Links are the bread & butter for your heroes to get additional stats for quite literally doing nothing. These are passive bonuses that can be unlocked to help you grow your power levels more. Shinsu Links are essentially connections between your heroes. There is a Shinsu Link tree for each element in the game. Many new players only focus on upgrading Shinsu links of only 1 element, leaving other elemental heroes staggering behind in terms of stats. This approach works well if you’re focusing on building a mono-element team but not for a diverse elemental team.

Mistake #3. Proficiency and Exclusive Equipment Not Unlocked

The proficiency system of Tower of God: New World is quite unique. Each hero can be entrusted with the power of friendship, and you can forge strong bonds with them. This usually happens by gifting them Instruction Manuals that increase their proficiency. These manuals come in different rarities and give you varying amount of trust experience. As you climb the tower floors and complete quests/events, you will be handed a lot of these instruction manuals. Ensure that you spend them right away on your strongest characters in the roster. Level up their proficiency to Level 10, which is the maximum. Doing so should unlock an exclusive equipment slot for your hero. 

Mistake #4. Prioritize Upgrading DPS Heroes

For those unaware, Tower of God: New World has multiple classes of heroes. Of course, this means that some are damage dealers, some are good at healing, and some might be good at tanking. By damage dealers, we emphasize on DPS heroes that have proven to be carry units in any team. These include the likes of Hoaqin, Urek Mazino, Yihwa Yeon, Data Zahard, and Escanor (THE ONE). Upgrading these heroes will benefit your account in the long run as DPS heroes never go out of meta. They can be replaced with better DPS heroes but the role does not disappear. On the other hand, many infusions of Support/Tanks can be seen that provide a mix of both healing and tanking. 

Mistake #5. Do not Fall for the Normal Store Item Trap

You might be aware of the Normal Store, a shop that sells many lucrative items at exorbitant prices. Well, that’s the catch, it’s designed for lazy players who cannot wait for a few days or hours but want the item now itself. The cost of the item is not justifiable by any player. In the end, purchasing any item from the Normal Store is a personal decision but doing so can significantly harm your gold economy. Naturally, being a live-service Idle game, resources are limited. But players can adopt a highly effective resource management playstyle to reduce their impulsive buying.
