Love and Deepspace is a highly anticipated otome game that takes place in a sci-fi setting with impressive 3D graphics. For those who don’t know, an otome game is a dating simulation game targeted towards a female audience. In Love and Deepspace, you play as a female protagonist who eventually meets several handsome male characters with their own backstory and abilities.

The game has recently opened its closed beta test on Android in limited countries. If you want to try out the game, you can check out the Google Play Store to try the beta or pre-register for the full launch. Pre-registering gives you exclusive rewards when the game officially comes out so make sure not to miss it.

In this beginner’s guide, we’ll dive into the world of Love and Deepspace and discuss all you need to know in the game. We’re going to be looking at gameplay elements, the characters, and more!

Character Creation

Love and Deepspace allows you to create your own female character and you can try to base her appearance to yourself to get a fully immersive otome experience.

You can customize four major aspects of your character’s appearance: skin, hair, face, and makeup. The game provides plenty of presets in each category that you can use to start building your character. Interestingly, you can even let the game scan your face to try to match your character’s appearance to yours as accurately as possible. You can also scan QR codes containing uploaded facial data.

The character customization is very in-depth as you can fine-tune aspects like the dimensions of your face, eye color, makeup intensity, and even the pitch of your voice. You can spend a myriad of hours alone just from the character creation part. Once you’re done creating your character, it is time to meet the male leads of the game.

Male Leads

Love and Deepspace features three male leads. They not only serve as your romantic interest throughout the game but also serve as your companions during combat. Each male lead has a special elemental ability known as “Evol” which can help you in battle.

  • Xavier – “My light only shines over you”
    • Age: Unknown
    • Job: Deepspace Hunter
    • Evol: Light
  • Zayne – “I’ve lived in a never-ending winter long enough. If you come closer, then…”
    • Age: 27
    • Job: Cardiac Surgeon
    • Evol: Ice
  • Rafayel – “Do you really think an inferno underneath the waves can’t be turbulent?”
    • Age: 24
    • Job: Artist
    • Evol: Fire

Fighting Aliens

Despite primarily being a dating simulation game, Love and Deepspace has an action-packed combat system where you fight deep galactic aliens called “wanderers” alongside your male lead companion. This is because you play as a deepspace hunter from the Hunter’s Association (one of the male leads is a hunter as well).

The combat gameplay is set in a third-person perspective. Your character has several basic actions.

  • Basic Attack – an attack that deals quick but small damage.
  • Dodge – avoid an enemy’s attack. You must use the directional pad to dodge in a specific direction.

  • Active Skill – unleashes your active skill to the enemy. An active skill is a very powerful attack that enters a cooldown period once used.
  • Resonance Skill – unleashes Evol. A very devastating attack that is usually used to finish off enemies. This skill is done together with your male lead companion.

You can use a gamepad to play the combat segments of Love and Deepspace as BlueStacks natively supports them. Additionally, you can also freely customize the controls on keyboard and mouse using the controls editor.

Wish System

Love and Deepspace has a gacha system called “wishes”.  By making wishes, you can unlock various memories of the male leads. You can make either 1 wish or 10 wishes at a time.

You can think of memories as different variants of the three male leads. The quality of the memory is dictated by the number of stars that it has. The more stars, the stronger the “memory” or variation of the character is. For example, Xavier can have one memory called “Xavier: A Break” that has three stars and another memory called “Xavier: Garden of Secrets” that has four stars.

You can make wishes from two different categories. Under Xspace Echo, you can mostly get memories with average star ratings that can probably help you get through the first set of stages in the story. Under Everlasting Dream, you can get significantly better memories compared to Xspace Echo but the items required to make a wish under here are much rarer to get. Regardless of category, the game guarantees you get a 5-star memory after making 70 wishes in total (pulls).

The attributes of these memories can be upgraded and ranked up to make them stronger. Memory EXP materials are used to upgrade memories. Upgrading increases stats like HP, ATK, DEF, and CRIT RATE.

When it comes to gacha systems like this, it is handy to use the multi-instance tool to reroll. Rerolling is essentially using multiple accounts to keep pulling for the characters (or in this case memories) that you desire. The multi-instance tool makes rerolling easier by allowing you to create many Android instances that can run different accounts of Love and Deepspace.
