League of Legends: Wild Rift – Top 5 Jungle Champions

  1. Lee Sin, the Blind Monk
  2. Shyvana, the Half-Dragon
  3. Amumu, the Sad Mummy
  4. Evelynn, Agony’s Embrace
  5. Master Yi, the Wuju Bladesman

If you’re losing too many games recently because your team cannot secure objectives like the scuttle crab, elemental dragons, rift herald, or the baron nashor, then it’s time you switch to the role of a ‘Jungler.’

The ‘jungle’ is the only position in League of Legends: Wild Rift in which you can roam around the map from the word go. Be it the early game or the late game, as a jungler, you can always impact the game either by securing objectives or by targeting enemy mages and marksmen in team fights.

In case you’re new to the game, we highly recommend you check out our jungle guide that talks about the basics of jungling, jungle pathing, and other key terms that are widely used in the jungle position. However, today, we’ll be going through the top 5 jungle champions currently meta-picked in LoL Wild Rift. But before that, let’s discuss some of the advantages and disadvantages of playing as a jungler.

Pros of playing as a Jungler: You can have a massive early game impact either through roaming, ganking for your team, or by securing scuttle crab and elemental dragon. Moreover, you can enter team fights from a flanking position and target enemy mage or marksman with ease.

Cons of playing as a Jungler: Well, if you’re not good at securing objectives like an elemental dragon or the baron nashor, then things might take a wrong turn. If you miss smiting the baron nashor or the elder elemental dragon in the late game, then your team can lose the game as well. Also, if you gank a lane and die in the process, you might falter behind in terms of gold and in-game pressure.

Without further ado, let’s jump straight to our top 5 best jungle champion picks!

1. Lee Sin, the Blind Monk

If you’re looking for a jungle champion with mechanics and the highest play-making potential, then Lee Sin should be your priority. Hands down, Lee Sin, is the scariest jungle champion in the current meta because of the burst damage he can dish out in a few seconds. With his ultimate ability, ‘Dragon’s Rage,’ Lee Sin can kick an enemy backward while dealing a ton of damage. Additionally, if the target enemy collides with other enemies on its path, they are knocked up in the air for a brief time and take some physical damage as well.

Lee Sin has a great jungle clear in the early stages of the game. You can even counter jungle as Lee Sin with utter-ease. Undoubtedly, he is an S tier champion at the moment.

Difficulty Level: Slightly High

Go-To Summoner Spells: Flash + Smite

Recommended Keystones: Conqueror or Grasp of the Undying (for a complete tank build)

Item Build: Youmuu’s Ghostblade, Black Cleaver/Duskblade of Draktharr, Quicksilver/Stasis Enchant, Death’s Dance, Randuin’s Omen, Mortal Reminder or Guardian Angel

2. Shyvana, the Half-Dragon

Shyvana is one of the fan-favorite jungle champions because of the damage output from her kit’s abilities. Her third skill, ‘Flame Breath,’ can dish out a disgusting amount of damage if you build full ability power on Shyvana. Since most of her skills do AoE damage, Shyvana is considered one of the best engaging champions when it comes to face on 5v5 team fights in mid to late game.

Shyvana gains more armor and magic resistance when she or her ally team slays elemental dragons. The only drawback of playing Shyvana is that you need to charge your ‘fury bar’ to cast your ultimate, ‘Dragon’s Descent,’ in crucial team fights.

Difficulty Level: Moderate

Go-To Summoner Spells: Flash + Smite

Recommended Keystones: Electrocute (for AP damage build)

Item Build: Nashor’s Tooth, Infinity Orb, Stasis/Protobelt Enchant, Morellonomicon, Rabadon’s Deathcap, Void Staff

3. Amumu, the Sad Mummy

Amumu is the most vigorous tank champion when it comes down to the jungle position. Because of his kit’s abilities, Amumu is considered a powerful ganking jungler after he unlocks his ultimate. With his ultimate, ‘Curse of the Sad Mummy,’ Amumu can stun the entire enemy team at once. His ultimate can also be combined with the abilities of other ally champions to excel in team fights. Players can either go for a tanky build or Ability Power damage build with Amumu, depending on the situation.

However, if you miss-time your ultimate ability in crucial team fights, your team can lose a team fight or entire game eventually. So, timing your ultimate is a must with Amumu.

Difficulty Level: Easy

Go-To Summoner Spells: Flash + Smite

Recommended Keystones: Aftershock or Electrocute (if you’re going for full Ability Power damage build)

Item Build: Abyssal Mask, Sunfire Cape, Locket Enchant, Spirit Visage / Thornmail, Randuin’s Omen, and Warmog’s Armor

4. Evelynn, Agony’s Embrace

If you’re playing a 5v5 MOBA game like Wild Rift, positioning is crucial for every player. In case you’re wondering, at level 5, Evelynn’s passive ‘Demon Shade’ grants her permanent invisibility. (Breaks off when Evelynn hits an enemy champion with an auto-attack or ability) Due to her passive, she is like a nightmare for marksmen in the game’s later stages. It also makes her an effective jungler when it comes to ganking in the early game. Moreover, this passive also grants Evelynn some bonus health regeneration when she’s less than 320 health.

Since Wild Rift doesn’t have ‘Pink Wards’ so far, it’s next to impossible to see a sneaking Evelynn unless she breaks her invisibility by attacking an enemy champion. Additionally, Evelynn’s ultimate ‘Last Caress’ comes in handy when trying to escape a losing skirmish/team fight.

Difficulty Level: Slightly High

Go-To Summoner Spells: Flash + Smite

Recommended Keystones: Electrocute

Item Build: Infinity Orb, Liandry’s Torment, Ionian Stasis Enchant, Rabadon’s Deathcap, and Morellonomicon/Void Staff

5. Master Yi, the Wuju Bladesman

Master Yi is one of the strongest dueling jungle champions in LoL Wild Rift after champions like Lee Sin, Xin Zhao, and Shyvana. He is easy to play and has huge damage potential due to his first and second skills, ‘Alpha Strike’ and ‘Wuju Style,’ respectively. Master Yi’s ultimate ‘Highlander’ helps him enter or exit from a team fight depending on the situation. Master Yi can self-heal (regenerate his health faster) and sustain while clearing the jungle with his second skill, ‘Meditate.’

The only problem with Master Yi is that despite being a perfect assassin sort of a jungling champion, his ganking potential is not that good compared to other jungle champions in the game. Moreover, Master Yi is easy to counter; all you need to do is either crowd-control him or use the summoner spell ‘Exhaust.’

Difficulty Level: Easy

Go-To Summoner Spells: Flash + Smite

Recommended Keystones: Conqueror

Item Build: Statikk Shiv, Blade of the Ruined King, Infinity Edge, Quicksilver Enchant, and Bloodthirster/Frozen Mallet

League of Legends: Wild Rift – Top 5 Jungle Champions

If you don’t dig these five jungle champions, we got some other suggestions for you. Here are other jungle champions that you can try out in Wild Rift:

  1. Xin Zhao – Despite the recent nerfs, Xin Zhao is still a viable jungle champion. Not only he’s a strong duelist but, he can also tank a decent amount of damage for his team in team fights. If you play Xin Zhao around objectives like the elemental dragon or baron nashor, you can outshine the enemy jungler.
  2. Dr. Mundo – What a surprise, right? Even though Mundo’s early game jungle clear is not up to the other champions’ level mentioned above, he becomes super tanky in the late game. Without the summoner spell ‘Ignite’ or items like Mortal Reminder or Morellonomicon, Dr. Mundo is almost impossible to kill.
  3. Gragas – Last but not least is Gragas. In Europe, he’s being played a lot recently. Just like Lee Sin, Gragas is pretty good when it comes to making plays. He can be played as a tank jungler or as an assassin jungler.

If you’re wondering, which are the best runes to take with all the champions mentioned above, then please check out this BlueStacks roundup for more information about the keystones and runes in League of Legends: Wild Rift on PC. If you’re a regular reader of such Wild Rift guides and roundups and come from a region where Wild Rift’s open beta is not available, don’t worry. As per Riot Games, the game will be released in most of the remaining regions by spring 2021.
