Brawl Stars: Game Mechanics

The popular MOBA Brawl Stars from mobile gaming titan Supercell has been released, even if it is only a soft launch in the Canadian iOS market. This is a great chance for Android users to begin studying and learning the insurance and outs of this mega-mobile game.

Layout

The first thing players notice about Brawl Stars is that unlike some other Supercell titles, is played in portrait rather than landscape mode. This means players will be playing top to bottom instead of left and right. Since almost each game mode and map involve players or teams advancing from either the top or bottom, the portrait layout is both comfortable and intuitive.

The controls for Brawl Stars are simple yet very customizable. Players can choose either tap or joystick methods. With tap controls, players simply tap the screen, whereas joystick gives players a joystick to control the on-screen action.

Brawlers

Brawlers are your playable characters. They are the stars of Brawl Stars and the reason we will open box after box. There are fifteen different brawlers available with only one (Shelly) available to play at the start. The fifteen brawlers are separated into four rarity types: common, rare, epic, and legendary. Brawlers can be obtained through various means, including opening Brawl Boxes, in-game events, and real-world cash. Each brawler has his or her own unique abilities, personalities, and back stories. Brawlers can be powered up by using elixirs found in boxes.

Trophies and Ranking System

Another deviation from the normal Supercell formula is the ranking system. In other games, players’ rankings were simply the number of trophies a player has amassed. While trophies are still the benchmark for rankings, Supercell has decided to give each brawler the ability to rack up their own trophies. For example, a player can have one brawler at 100 trophies while another is sitting back at 25. The total number of trophies from all brawlers determines a players ultimate ranking.

Brawl Boxes

Brawl Boxes are your main source for rewards in Brawl Stars. Brawl Boxes can contain a number of different rewards and prizes depending on box level. Obtaining Brawl Boxes can be done via in-game currency, real-world cash, winning matches, and special events. The most sought after prize in Brawl Boxes are obviously new Brawlers.

Currency

What’s a mobile game without stuff to buy? In Brawl Stars, Supercell gives us plenty of sweet treats to spend our money on. As with many mobile video games, players can purchase in-game currency that will be used for many different purposes. There are a couple varieties of in-game currency. Gold serves as the main game currency and allows you to open Brawler Boxes once you hit a specific amount. As for premium currency, Supercell has once again gone with gems which can be found, won, and purchased.
