League of Legends: Wild Rift Champion Guide – Tristana, the Yordle Gunner
Apart from Jinx, Tristana is probably the only hyper-carry Attack Damage marksman in League of Legends: Wild Rift in patch 2.0A. She is mostly played in the Dragon Lane with a support champion. Tristana has a high damage output and DPS, thanks to the abilities in her kit. The best part about Tristana is that she gets reset on her second skill if she kills an enemy champion or assists in the champion takedown. Like other champions from the Bundle City, Tristana also has a game-changing ultimate ‘Buster Shot’ that throws the target enemies in the backward direction. Moreover, she can also protect herself with the correct usage of her ultimate.
Apart from her ultimate, Tristana’s primary damage skill is her third skill, ‘Explosive Charge.’ Tristana throws a detonable bomb on the select target that detonates after four successful hits (auto-attacks) or after a short time dealing damage to the target and surrounding units. The best part about Tristana is that with her passive, the range of her auto-attack increases as the game progresses. Thanks to her second skill, ‘Rocket Jump,’ Tristana can always run away from a dangerous situation, be it a losing team fight or a losing skirmish anywhere on the map. She is probably the only marksman champion that can peel herself with her ultimate. (that has both damage and CC). It’s time we take a look at the order in which Tristana’s abilities should be maxed to get the best out of her!
- Rapid Fire – Level 2/7/10/12
- Rocket Jump – Level 3/7/14/15
- Explosive Charge –Level 1/4/6/8
- Buster Shot – Level 5/9/13
It is highly recommended that you always go with the ability order mentioned above. Always prioritize maxing your third skill as it has the most damage. Since the first skill only gives Tristana attack speed, you can max her second skill, ‘Rocket Jump,’ if you want more protection for her. Rest should be maxed, as mentioned above!
Strengths: As we mentioned earlier, she is a hyper-carry Attack Damage champion and probably the only marksman with the burst potential. (Ezreal no more due to recent nerfs!) You can always get a reset on your superior escape ability, i.e., your second skill, ‘Rocket Jump,’ it becomes a lot easier to position correctly with Tristana in team fights. Moreover, with the jump resets, you can also reposition yourself as Tristana if needed. Additionally, if an enemy assassin jumps on you, you can always knock them backward with your ultimate, ‘Buster Shot.’
Weakness: Like other Yordle champions from the Bundle City, Tristana also has low armor and defense stats throughout the game. She is super weak against champions with heavy Ability Power/Attack Damage. Sometimes you may get forced to make defensive items like Ionian Stasis with her.
You need 5500 blue motes or 725 wild cores to purchase Tristana.
Recommended Keystones and Summoner Spells with Tristana
Summoner Spells: Flash + Heal are the most recommended summoner spells with Tristana. You can replace Heal with Barrier when there are assassin champions like Zed, Akali, or Evelynn in the enemy team.
- Conqueror Setup: Conqueror + Brutal + Regeneration+ Manaflowband
- Fleet Footwork Setup: Fleet Footwork + Gathering Storm + Regeneration + Manaflowband
Item Builds with Tristana
- Infinity Edge
- Rapid Firecannon
- Gluttonous Quicksilver or Ionian Stasis (depending on the matchup)
- Statikk Shiv
- Mortal Reminder
Interestingly enough, some League of Legends PC made ability power build on Tristana, which had significant damage and attack speed. You can try that out in the classic games or the practice mode!
Strong Against: Tristana is strong against other marksmen in Wild Rift with low mobility or lesser range on their auto-attacks than her. She does well against all squishy champions irrespective of what lane they are played in. She does well against champions like Miss Fortune, Ezreal, Vayne, and Varus.
Weak Against: Tristana doesn’t do that well when she is up against super-heavy tank champions like Mundo, Malphite, and Singed. Moreover, these champions can effortlessly chase down a Tristana. Also, assassins with a crazy amount of burst damage (Attack Damage based or Ability Power based) like Zed and Evelynn are decent picks against a marksman like Tristana.
How Good is Tristana, the Yordle Gunner in Wild Rift?
If you’re a marksman main and having a hard time climbing the ranked ladder in solo-queue, then we highly recommend you start playing Tristana. She is arguably the strongest marksman in the game right now when it comes to dishing out damage from the farthest possible range. After you build the item, ‘Rapid Firecannon’ on her, she becomes unstoppable. Since Tristana has a more extended range than other marksmen in the game, you can trade heavily in the Dragon Lane against enemy marksman. The slow and the escape ability from her second skill, ‘Rocket Jump,’ is also convenient for surviving in the Dragon Lane in the game’s early stages! Undoubtedly, she is an S-tier champion in League of Legends: Wild Rift.
LoL Wild Rift: Tristana – FAQ’s
1. Can I build Ability Power on Tristana – Mage?
In League of Legends PC, an Ability Power build was also very popular with Tristana. However, Ability Power damage based item for attack speed like the Nashor’s Tooth was also a part of the build.
2. How do I maximize the potential of Tristana’s third skill – Explosive Charge?
After you use the third skill, you need to be in range to land your auto-attacks. The best part about this skill is that if your second skill ‘Rocket Jump’ is on cooldown and you land all the four auto-attacks on an enemy champion with your Explosive Charge ability, the cooldown of the Rocket Jump resets, and you can use the jump again!
3. What are the core items on Tristana?
Infinity Edge, Statikk Shiv, Rapid Firecannon, and Gluttonous Quicksilver.
