League of Legends: Wild Rift Open Beta Now Live in Select Countries
October is a glorious month for gaming because not only do we get tons of Halloween events in our favorite games but, this year in particular marks the date when the open beta for League of Legends: Wild Rift has gone live.
League of Legends is one of the most important esports and MOBAs of our generation. It’s a game that not only managed to take inspiration from the OG in the genre, Dota, but also to do so without directly copying it, and created its own niche in the community. Today, LoL is arguably just as big as Dota 2, with a massive community of loyal fans who actively enjoy the game, as well as participate in forum discussions and theory-crafting. And all of this is to explain how, when Riot Games announced they were working on a mobile version of LoL called League of Legends: Wild Rift, the internet understandably broke.
We’ve covered the most important aspects of Wild Rift’s development in our blog, and we strongly suggest heading on over to read about it if you’re interested. Today’s article, however, is simply to commemorate the fact that the game has formally entered the regional open beta, allowing gamers from select countries to freely download and start playing it.
The League of Legends: Wild Rift Regional Open Beta
Yesterday, October 27th, the regional open beta for Wild Rift launched formally in several countries, including:
- South Korea
In the past, it was only select users from these regions who were able to access the beta. However, the regional open beta, as its name implies, is freely available to all users in these regions, and interested gamers can easily download it from the Play Store just like they would with any other mobile game.
This test phase grants players access to the game and all the champions currently available, including the recently-implemented Lee Sin, as well as the others that are continuously added the upcoming weeks, including Akali, Darius, Draven, Evelynn, Kai’Sa, and Seraphine.
Wild Rift Open Beta Future Region Support
While the game is only currently available for the regions mentioned above, the team has mentioned that it will be expanded to other areas in December, including:
- Middle East
- North Africa
They have also stated that the Americas will get access in Spring 2021, which definitely gives us something to look forward to! In the meantime, the devs will use all the feedback generated in the ongoing regional open beta to further polish the game, as well as continuously add in new features and champions in future content updates.
Let us know what you think about the open beta in the comments below. And remember that, if you’re in any of the regions mentioned above, you can already enjoy Wild Rift on PC with BlueStacks!
