Speaker 1:
Hey guys. Let’s talk about how to choose moderators. Choosing a moderator is not so difficult, but it definitely should be an important decision for you to make. You need to figure out where or not the person you are moderating is trustworthy and responsible. The job of a moderator is to take good care of your chat and to make sure everything is going the way you want it to be. Whether you want certain types of questions answered or you want things left to you to deal with. It’s really up to the moderator to take care of chat when you’re not looking at it. So, for every mod that you have, think of it as an extra set of eyes and ears to watch your back.

While you’re concentrating on the game, these guys can help you either greet new viewers, answer questions, send over links or sometimes just ban people and time people out and check certain types of conversations and comments that are dropped in your stream. When you start getting into who do you want for moderation, I first look at who’s on time to my stream, who comes early? Who’s there when I’m not there? Who’s constantly doing mod work without even being a moderator? I mean a viewer that’s there, already shooting commands out, already giving the next best ideas as far as where to take the stream, or how to help someone out in chat. It’s the little things like this that help you determine who’s a responsible person and it has nothing to do with age or where you’re from, nothing like that. It’s about the person and who they are and how they carry themselves in your chat room.

I’ve got certain moderators that act one way in my stream and then they’re a completely different type of viewer in other places but again, every environment is just a bit different. You find one that’s suitable for you, that answers things the way you want to be answered and just keep it very transparent. When you need a new command or something like that, you want someone that understands the platform that you’re on and can help you and just have your back. So, that’s how you choose a moderator, that’s how you choose a good moderator and that’s how you to develop a nice community from the ground up. It’s very important to have awesome mods that can welcome people and make people feel welcomed. That’ll definitely, definitely boost your viewership, when people enjoy themselves in the chat, they enjoy you and your stream even more.

Okay, so speaking about moderating and having your mods protect your chat and show up for your stream. I’ll give you guys a quick example of what that looks like. Here I pull upon a past broadcast and you can see my mods in a chat, making sure everything is safe and sound, tagging viewers, answering questions and just throwing out all the love and vibes that you want. If people say certain things, it’s up to your mods to go ahead and check it out make sure they’re answering questions and … Oh, look at this, great example, love this chat room, everyone is cool. It’s just things like this that really influence your stream and this is a cool feature of Twitch, where you can look back at the stream and see certain things and yeah, it’s just a live example of what my chat room will look like. It’s mods in here, it’s people having fun but at the same time, we’re just trying to make sure that everyone is having a good time.

If I didn’t like something, let’s just say, that’s normal for all of us, but for whatever reason, if we didn’t want that we’d delete it right? You’d want that deleted as a mod. You take that out, it’s all about keeping your chat healthy and fun and making sure everyone is on the same page. Again, it is always awesome to have people greeting each other, especially, it starts there with the mods. It starts when the viewer comes inside the stream, they feel welcomed, your moderators are there to answer their questions and more importantly, greet people and make sure everyone is having a nice time.
