Honor of Kings is the direct counterpart of Kings of Glory, a famous China-based MOBA (Multiplayer Online Battle Royale) that has seen unprecedented love and hype from the gamers of China. Announced to launch globally under a new name, Kings of Glory has long been considered as pioneers of the Mobile MOBA competitive genre that has amassed millions of eyeballs not just from China but also overseas. The game is a classic 5v5 stylized battle royale where teams of 5 players each compete to destroy the enemie’s bases. Each player controls a specific hero that possesses unique abilities and skills to help them win the battles. Akin to MMORPGs, each hero has their own classes assigned to them to make the games more competitive and balanced. Honor of Kings has recently been launched officially by Level Infinite for Brazil. Players can download and install Honor of Kings as a free-to-play title on both the Google Play Store and iOS App Store with in-game microtransactions enabled.

Honor of Kings boasts a new age playstyle blended with the traditional systems of MOBA games where 5 players from each side spawn on the opposite side of a square shaped map. Players can check out the minimap from the top right-hand corner in-game. The map dictates 3 different lanes – Top Lane, Middle Lane, and Bottom Lane. In between the lanes, a specific grassy area called “Jungle” exists, containing different monsters that can be slayed for extra gold and experience. Generally, the 5 players divide the roles among themselves according to the map – Top Laner, Middle Laner, Bot Laner, Support, and Jungler. Each of them goes to their own lane, while the Jungler goes to farm and clear the jungle monsters. The Support role is flexible as it rotates around the map in order to support it’s laners in case they are having difficulty to lane against their opponents. With the basics told, we must say that Honor of Kings has been one of the more polished MOBA games that has been released in recent years.

With over 50+ playable heroes in the game, it’s always going to be a challenge as to which hero is considered as the best. As we previously mentioned, being a live service game, it all depends on the player’s skill and ability to make heroes work as they are supposed to. A proper ranking system is also established in the game where players can compete among themselves to gain rank points and climb the rankings of the leader board. Much like any competitive game, the leader board players will be given prizes in the form of special seasonal frames, borders, recall effects, and emotes. Other benefits include exclusive skins for a specific seasonal selected hero that have special effects and exude exclusivity of the elite players.

A short summarization of what Honor of Kings stands for is accurately quoted by the developers – “As the world’s most-played mobile MOBA, Honor of Kings offers the ultimate competitive experience on mobile. Become immersed in the battlefield as you squad up with your friends, choose from unique heroes with amazing skills, and enjoy the extreme fun of fierce team fights. In each battle, a team of five players advance along three lanes, with the goal of taking down nine towers, and ultimately destroying the enemy’s crystal to claim victory.”

Taking different acknowledgements from the Chinese mythology and symbols, Honor of Kings is a direct counterpart to the China-based Kings of Glory. Honor of Kings holds a massive respect in the industry and the eventual global release is quite hyped by the MOBA community. Rivalling the likes of Arena of Valor, Mobile Legends: Bang Bang, and League of Legends: Wild Rift, it will be interesting to see how the Level Infinite developed MOBA will fare against these big giants.
