The Pet System in Ragnarok X: Next Generation (ROX) introduces an additional strategic layer to the open-world gameplay, allowing players to capture, train, and evolve a variety of pets that assist in battles and enhance character attributes. Pets are cute companions that all players can catch, hatch, and utilize in battles. This guide provides an in-depth look into the mechanics of pet acquisition, development, and utilization within the game.

Unlocking the Pet System

To access the Pet System, players must reach base level 60. Upon reaching this milestone, a series of introductory quests become available, guiding players through the process of purchasing a slingshot, loading it, and unlocking the Pet Encyclopedia. Completing these quests enables players to embark on their journey of pet collection and management.

How to Capture Pets?

Capturing pets involves a straightforward yet strategic process. The new system has divided all pets into different rarities, according to which they can appear when you catch them. The quality of the pet obtained is randomized, with the following probabilities:

  •   S Tier (Very Rare): 1% chance
  •   A Tier (Rare): 10% chance
  •   B Tier (Normal): 89% chance

Ragnarok X: Next Generation Pet Guide and Tips

To catch a pet, players will firstly need to equip a Slingshot weapon from their backpack, and equip the Tame Pet skill. This skill is available for all classes, regardless of the choice you have made.

Pet Attributes and Skills Explained

Each pet possesses unique attributes and skills that can be enhanced over time:

  • Talents: Innate passive abilities that provide specific benefits.
  • Active Skills: By increasing a pet’s Intimacy level through interactions and gifts, pets can learn up to six active skills. These skills are selected randomly from a predefined pool, offering diverse combat options.
  • Bond Level: Similar to the Bond Card system, this feature allows further customization and enhancement of pet abilities.

Pet Evolution

Pets become eligible for evolution upon reaching specific Favor levels. This favor level depends on the quality of the pet itself. For example, white pets can be evolved after reaching Favor level 50, and purple pets can be evolved after reaching Favor level 60. Evolution requires a Pet Advancement Pill and the pet’s favored costume item. The process resets the pet’s level to 1 but grants new stats, favor, rank, and skills. The outcome quality is determined by the original pet’s tier:

  • S Tier: 75% chance to downgrade to A, 25% chance to remain S.
  • A Tier: 5% chance to downgrade to B, 85% chance to remain A, 10% chance to upgrade to S.
  • B Tier: 60% chance to remain B, 40% chance to upgrade to A.

What is Pet Quality Transfer?

Players have the option to transfer the quality of a higher-tier pet to another of the same species, preserving the level and experience of the recipient pet. This process requires two identical pets (same species), with one possessing higher quality. A fee of 5,000 Zeny is also levied upon the player for this transfer. The transfer ensures that players can upgrade their pets without losing progress.

Pet Awakening Skills

Pets can unlock up to four awakening skill slots, enhancing their combat capabilities. Unlocking these slots requires skill sheets, obtainable exclusively from the Pet Book Vending Machine (Gacha system). The number of slots available depends on the pet’s quality tier and star rank.

Pet Stamina Explained

Pets have a stamina system, with each pet possessing 720 stamina points, allowing for 120 minutes of active deployment. Stamina is the main resource by which any pet functions. Sadly, you cannot keep using your Pet for an entire day as the stamina system won’t allow it. Stamina depletes at a rate of one point every 10 seconds while the pet is active.
