Netmarble: A New Game of Thrones Mobile MMORPG
Netmarble recently announced the development of a new Game of Thrones Mobile MMORPG during its 5th NTP (Netmarble Together with Press) event. The new mobile game will be developed alongside HBO Max and Warner Bros, the companies behind the Game of Thrones series.
Not much information about the game is available right now, but the developers did give us a short teaser trailer of Game of Thrones Mobile. In the trailer, right at the start, we can see the giant ice wall that defends the GOT world from the White Walkers. Then it cuts to a rider, possibly Jon Snow approaching or crossing the wall.
As the screen turns white, we see a dragon, possibly Viserion, breathing fire upon the Army of the Dead. And the trailer ends with a close-up of the Night King on his horse with his ice spear. The last part of the trailer looks similar to S8- E3, “The Long Night” of the GOT series, where the Night King kills Viserion.
It looks like the game will take place around the same time as the series. That means we will get to see most of the FOT fan-favorite characters like:
- Daenerys Targaryen
- Jon Snow
- Bran Stark
- Tyrion Lannister
- Cersei Lannister
- Arya Stark
- Jaime Lannister
- Samwell Tarly
- Brienne of Tarth
- Sandor Clegane
We will likely meet all the important GOT characters during the campaign, in co-op mode or multiplayer battles. All we can do now is wait for the next trailer or leaks.
The upcoming Game of Thrones Mobile will be using the next-gen Unreal Engine 5 at its core, which means impressive graphics and in-game physics, making for a great gameplay experience. As per Netmarble, the game will have hyper-realistic console-quality visuals.
And considering that Game of Thrones Mobile is going to be an open-world multiplayer game based in Westeros, the developers will have plenty of opportunities to showcase their artwork and push the graphical limits of Unreal Engine 5.
As per the Netmarble Neo CEO Park Beom-jin, the new GOT mobile game will feature a rich single-player experience along with the modern quirks of large-scale multiplayer modes. The game is said to include dynamic weather, exploration, and heavy combat. All of this sounds exciting and perfect for a next-gen MMORPG mobile game.
If done right, we could finally get a GOT mobile game comparable to the popular Witcher games.
If you didn’t know, Netmarble is a South Korean mobile game developer famous for games like Marvel Future Fight, Seven Knight 2, The Seven Deadly Sins: Grand Cross, MARVEL Future Revolution, and many more.
By the way, this is not the first time Netmarble has tried their hand at Game of Thrones. Back in May 2018, Netmarble released a mobile strategy game called the “Iron Throne,” which is now known as “Rise of Firstborn”.
So Netmarble does have a bit of experience in the Game of Thrones world; hopefully, that translates to good decisions concerning micro-transactions in the game.
That’s all we have on Netmarble’s Game of Thrones MMORPG Mobile game for now. But do stay tuned for the latest gaming-related news from us.
