Instagram introduces Stories, a familiar feature key to Snapchat. In fact, it’s identical as it allows you to create a collection of photos and videos in slideshow format called a Story. These also are temporary, lasting only 24 hours and the company says they are deleted permanently and won’t appear on your profile grid or in feed. Also similar are tools to draw on or write text atop of your creations.

Stories will appear on top of your feed, indicated by their profile photo having a colorful ring around it. To navigate, you can tap to go back and forward or swipe to jump to another person’s story. You cannot publicly comment on or like a story but send the person an direct message. Instagram says stories respect your privacy settings, therefore if your account is set to private, only those following you can see- or you can filter those who follow if you do not want them to see your story. You can even choose to feature a particular part of your story by posting it on your profile.

Instagram Stories will be rolling out globally on Android and iOS over the next few weeks. Be sure to download the new update to Instagram and try it on PC via BlueStacks!
