Promethean feels like a handy remote for classrooms that already have those ActivPanel boards on the wall. It lets students throw their phone or tablet screen up to the panel with Screen Share, no sign in, as long as Screen Share is turned on at the panel. Teachers get extra controls on top of that. They can sign in with a Promethean account to reach their profile on ActivPanel 9, and jump straight into Learn Promethean tutorials and training from inside the app, which depends on language availability. IT folks are not left out either. They can enroll panels into the school organization, name them, drop them into groups, and verify that enrollment actually worked, all from the same place. Nothing fancy, just the tools a classroom needs when everyone is moving around the room.
On PC with BlueStacks it works like a simple dashboard with mouse and keyboard, which is nice if someone has a lot of panels to set up or needs to skim through training without tapping on a tiny screen. Screen sharing from the app to the board still does what it should, and the menus are straightforward enough that no one needs a manual to find basic stuff. Just note the requirements. It needs ActivPanel Elements panels like Nickel, Cobalt, or Titanium running SR 3.2 or newer, panel sign in only works on ActivPanel 9, and Screen Share has to be enabled on the panel first. For schools already using Promethean gear, this is a time saver more than a showpiece.
