Growing the Economy
The primary goal of any kingdom that’s being rebuilt is to grow its economy. Resources are the most important thing to keep in mind in Lords and Tactics so you should always find a way to stabilize your production and income as soon as possible to make sure that your kingdom can continue to function. Since the economy is the lifeblood that keeps your kingdom alive, every other sector will crumble if the player isn’t able to make sure that they have a good resource income in the game.
Economic stability is achieved through a variety of ways which we’ll be discussing more in detail in an independent article to give players a clear idea of what to do. The most important thing to keep in mind as a new player is that you shouldn’t ignore your economy by not upgrading key structures or continuously spending limited resources while spending too much on other stuff. Once you’ve established the economy, it’s extremely easy to grow your kingdom in the way that you intend.
Developing the Military
The military is another important sector in growing your kingdom. As you already know, Lords and Tactics features a heavy focus on PvP by giving players the option to attack each other by using the army that they’ve raised. The troops in your kingdom can serve three purposes: attack, defend, or simply be sent on errands to gather resources. A lot of high-level players use their armies to bolster their position in the quadrant or supplement their economy by raiding weaker players with decent resource generation.
Training more troops is the primary way to bolster your military presence to make sure that you have enough to defend against an incoming attack as well as be able to split your army into different groups for various tasks. However, quantity isn’t always going to win you the war so make sure to get military upgrades that will improve the quality of your soldiers so that they’ll be able to perform more efficiently when engaging with an enemy player, especially if they are a higher level than you.
Technology & Research
In Lords and Tactics, the player can go to the Academy to research new technology that acts as upgrades to your kingdom. This is like a skill tree in traditional RPGs, but players actually have to invest time and resources before they can complete a research order. Once a research order is complete, the player will be awarded a permanent bonus depending on what type of technology they opted to research. There are different branches that essentially fall on either military or economic upgrades.
We recommend doing the economic upgrades first because the early game is where players will be spending a ridiculous amount of resources and it can be hard always to have enough supplies to complete a work order. We don’t recommend players jump from one technology branch to another early on. It’s better to focus on a single branch and fully upgrade all of the technology you can find there before you eventually get capped by your Academy level, which will allow you to move on to a different branch until you get the next upgrade.
The Overworld
The overworld is where players can see most of the content. Players can choose to tap on the World button to see which part of the map they’re currently situated at. In the world map, players can do various actions like attack players or NPCs or gather resource nodes to help out their economy. We recommend scouting out the area and looking out for powerful players and which guild/alliance they belong to so that you understand who your potential enemies or allies might be.
Players should always send out their troops to interact with the overworld either by attacking smaller, inactive players or to try to get resources from nodes and NPCs. This area is where most of the resources will be acquired since the economy is an extremely difficult sector to develop, especially in the later stages of the game. Make sure that you always check the overworld for changes and track the movements of your neighbors to see if you might need to prepare for an all-out war.
Heroes & Commanders
Heroes are a central part of your gameplay in Lord and Tactics. Just like most mobile games, players have the option to collect a variety of different heroes through a gacha system where they’ll be spending premium currency or in-game tickets to get the chance to acquire a random character, depending on the banner. These heroes are important for your kingdom’s development because they act as commanders to your army.
Heroes are categorized according to their rarity and faction. The rarity is important because higher-rarity heroes are naturally better because of their high base stats and more powerful abilities that make them invaluable to your kingdom. Factions refer to their loyalties, which still hold significance in the game because each hero has different combat attributes that change depending on which hero faction they’re allied with or fighting against.
