Its combination of solid HP, respectable damage output, and sometimes unpredictable coin-flip mechanics make it a versatile yet risky attacker. But with the right deck construction, clever support, and proper piloting, Ampharos can evolve into a serious contender in TCG Pocket. Ampharos’s “Thunder Punch” can deal 80–120 damage depending on a coin flip. That makes it capable of threatening one-shot knockouts on many mid-stage Pokémon. Here are the pros of using the Ampharos deck in battles:
High Damage Potential – Ampharos can deal a ton of damage with his Thunder Punch move. Paired with cards like Will that can guarantee rolling heads, the damage is guaranteed to be 120 every turn.
Solid Durability – With around 150 HP, Ampharos can absorb hits better than most Stage 2s of similar cost.
Electric Synergy – The Lightning archetype already has strong support cards for energy acceleration, draw power, and utility. Ampharos slots well into this ecosystem.
Surprise Factor – Since it isn’t yet widely played, opponents may misjudge its power curve, giving you an advantage.

Stage 2 Evolution Tax – Needing Mareep → Flaaffy → Ampharos slows the deck. Without acceleration or search, setup can lag behind faster archetypes.
