Stormshot Isle of Adventure Hero Power Up Guide – All the Methods Explained

Felt like the sea is calling out your name? You’re not alone, as many budding pirates are frolicking to Stormshot: Isle of Adventure. The game begins as your shipwrecked crew lands on the Isle of Adventure. To survive and thrive, you’ll need to construct a base, train troops, and fend off threats like pirates, undead, and rival adventurers. In addition to traditional strategy elements like resource management and tactical battles, Stormshot features unique puzzle stages that challenge players with brain-teasing scenarios and physics-based obstacles. In this guide, we will be explaining everything you need to know about the hero system and growth methods. Let’s begin!
Hero Tiering System
Heroes in Stormshot come in four rarities: S (gold border), A (purple), B (blue), and C (green). S-tier heroes are endgame legends with over 2 million power, whereas C-tier heroes typically offer around 40k power. These heroes lead specific troop types—Infantry, Cavalry, Distance, or Garrison, and each offers unique buffs. Early on, strive to recruit at least one S-tier hero and pair them with A-tier allies for a strong starting lineup.
Levelling Up your Heroes
Heroes don’t level up through combat; they need Hero EXP items (small, medium, large) to increase in level. Players can get these hero exp tomes by participating in events, completing quests, and chapter missions. Use these efficiently: avoid overfilling beyond the next upgrade threshold. If the UI warns you’ll lose leftover EXP when leveling stars, use smaller chips (e.g., 500 or 100) to top off just to the cap before upgrading.
Star Upgrade
Star upgrades raise a hero’s level cap and unlock new tiers of skills. This requires duplicates of the same hero:
1 → 2 stars: 1 duplicate required
2 → 3 stars: 2 duplicates required
3 → 4 stars: 3 duplicates required
4 → 5 stars: 4 duplicates required
5 → 6 stars: 5 duplicates required
After reaching 6 stars, acquiring Hero “free gift” duplicates or gold-star variants allows unlocking their 4th skill, while S-tier heroes need tier-specific duplicates to access their 5th skill. Most heroes start with one active skill. To unlock further skills (Skill 2–4), you’ll need duplicates or Instructor cards of equal rarity. Once maxed on level stars, additional duplicates unlock higher-tier abilities—S-tier heroes require even more duplicates to unlock Skill 5. Once unlocked, skill upgrades cost skill points, obtainable by disenchanting extra copies of that hero—hold duplicates until you need these points.
Hero Refinement
“Refinement” lets you invest Gold to enhance hero attributes (Strength, Intelligence, etc.). You select which stats receive potential bonuses, though it’s RNG-based: focusing on fewer core stats increases the odds for higher boosts. Refinement is best reserved for top-tier heroes (S-tier first), since they yield higher returns. It’s instrumental for heroes with abilities that scale off specific stats—e.g., Intelligence is key for entrustment heroes.
Upgrade Sequence to Push Hero Power
If you’re still confused as to how you can maximize the power and potential of any hero, we have curated a complete sequence that can make any character go from zero to hero. Check out the steps you need to follow:
- Recruit at least one S-tier hero.
- Collect duplicates to raise star level and unlock skills.
- Upgrade hero levels with Hero EXP items, prioritize reaching current star-cap.
- Enhance gear quality, focusing on top heroes.
- Refine stats via enhancement, targeting main stats that align with their ability scaling.
- Earn and spend shards from Hero trees, events, and tavern pulls to unlock promo/stat boosts.
- Respec Creation talents (Creation Guide) when adjusting hero roles (e.g., for march vs campaign).
