The latest Patch for RAID: Shadow Legends called Patch 5.30 is bringing some much needed new content and balance changes to its existing champions as the turn-based RPG by Plarium is looking forward to completing its 3rd year anniversary. The delay caused in the Patches to drop and the 3rd year anniversary events is due to the ongoing conflict between Ukraine and Russia as told by Plarium in its patch notes for Patch 5.30 for the community on their official forums.

RAID: Shadow Legends – Champion Skins, New Clan Shop Items, and Balance Changes in Patch 5.30

The highlights of Patch 5.30 are going to be the introduction of new champion skins for different champions in the game! Players were hoping for some cosmetic changes soon and Plarium seems to finally adopt the idea of providing skins which is already present in many other similar titles. Apart from champion skins, the Clan Shop which was introduced last year around the 2nd anniversary time is being reworked and new items are being added to it including a certain Void legendary champion! Coming to balance changes, they are far and few between these patches but they do make an impact on the PvE and PvP side of the game. Let’s see all the new things coming with Patch 5.30.

Upcoming Champion Skins

Plarium has often been criticized for not providing skins for its vast pool of champions currently available to be collected in-game. Well, that is changing with the advent of Patch 5.30 where Plarium is promising in bringing out new champion skins for a short roster of champions currently, but this roster will further be increased if they see success in their skins. As said in their own official patch notes –” Champion Skins are a new cosmetic feature, as straightforward as they come in its essence. You’ll be able to change your Champion’s appearance to something new and cool – though still recognizable! – without affecting their Stats.”

As we can read from above, it’s great to see that skins will not provide for additional stats to the champion as it can lead to massive imbalance and pay-to-win mindset among the community. The Patch notes also state that not all of the skins will be available through free-to-play options and many will be available through special purchase packs as they are vanity items. For the starting, they will be providing skins for Arbiter and Coldheart as they are the community favourite champions.

Clan Shop New Items

New items are being added in the Clan Shop which was opened in the first half of last year. The reception of Clan Shop has been massive and players are happy as Clans were finally seeing a use. As plarium had promised, new items are finally being added to the Clan Shop! The new items will include:

  • Champion Fragments of Yakarl the Scourge (Void Legendary)
  • Killstroke Artifact Set

Killstroke Artifacts are a new set of artifacts that will be exclusively available only through the Clan Shop. They are a 2-piece Artifact set which provide the user with +20% Critical Hit Damage and +5% Speed. Think of them like an upgraded version of the existing Critical Hit Damage Artifact Set.

Yakarl the Scourge

Yakarl the Scourge is a void affinity legendary champion from the Barbarian faction. He is getting buffed in Patch 5.30 and is also going to be available for free for all players as they can get his champion fragments from the Clan Shop. This is a big Patch for him and we thought, we should let players know how useful of a champion he is by providing his in-depth skill guide post rework and buffs.

Yakarl the Scourge’s 1st skill Axe of Allwinter is a single targeted damaging skill that hits the target champion 2 times with each hit having a 40% chance to inflict a Freeze debuff for 1 turn. He will also ignore 25% of the target’s defense if the target is under a Freeze debuff. This is a great buff from his previous 20% chance to freeze. His 2nd skill Blizzard Rider is also a single targeted damaging skill that has a 75% chance to inflict 30% Speed Down debuff for 3 turns and 75% chance to inflict a Freeze debuff for 1 turn while stealing 100% of the target’s turn meter and applying a 30% Increased Speed buff for 3 turns on himself. This skill additionally ignores 50% of the target’s defense if the target is under Freeze debuff. His 3rd skill Glaciate is an AOE targeted skill that damages all enemies and has a 75% chance of inflicting a Freeze debuff for 1 turn. This chance will increase to 100% if the targets turn meter is 75% or more when he uses the skill. Further, he will also ignore resistance if the target’s have 75% or more turn meter.

His 4th ability Lord of Ice’s passive states that he will deal 10% additional damage for each champion on the battlefield under Freeze debuffs while receiving 10% less damage for each champion under Freeze debuff. The active effect states that he will place an Unkillable buff on himself for 1 turn whenever he kills an enemy champion under Freeze debuffs. This active effect has a 3-turn cooldown. Finally, his Aura will provide 33% Attack to all allies if he is the lead.

Take a look at Yakarl the Scourge’s skills in detail:

Axe of Allwinter (Attack): Attacks 1 enemy 2 times. Each hit has a 40% chance of placing a [Freeze] debuff for 1 turn. Will ignore 25% of the target’s DEF against targets under [Freeze] debuffs.

Champion Balance Changes

Patch 5.30 will be home to few balance changes coming to some champions. Though the roster of champions who need balance changes are wide, Plarium acknowledges it cannot provide solutions to all of them at the same time without disrupting the current balance of the game. The first balance change is for Yakarl the Scourge which we mentioned in the previous heading. The rest of the notable champion balance changes are as follows:

Cleopterix

Feather Barrage – Places a 30% [Increase C. RATE] buff and a 30% [Increase C. DMG] buff on this Champion for 2 turns, then attacks all enemies. Has a 75% chance of placing a [Block Active Skills] debuff for 2 turns on targets under [Hex] debuffs. Damage also increased.

Sky Punishment – Damage dealt increased.

The amount by which each ally’s Turn Meter is filled increases according to the number of debuffs removed from them. Cooldown also decreased from 6 turns to 4 turns.
