Smilegate’s latest project OUTERPLANE is expected to soon be launching globally after thoroughly being tested. Players can playtest the game during their currently up and running 2nd closed beta test through their official website. The game looks phenomenal with crisp animations and anime-stylized 3D full artwork designs for their characters. OUTERPLANE is a turn-based RPG set in the fictional world of Magnolia where we will role-play as the main character “K” who has lost his memories after a tragic accident. Being a strategic turn-based RPG, players can expect tons of in-game combat mechanics to take note of in order to be victorious. OUTERPLANE will be available as a free-to-play game on both the Google Play Store and iOS App Store with in-game microtransactions enabled.

Akin to many gacha games, OUTERPLANE offers different heroes at different probabilities. The rates for summoning the different heroes vary according to the base rarity of the hero themselves. The rates are as follows:

• 3-Star Heroes – 2% Probability of being summoned
• 2-Star Heroes – 19% Probability of being summoned
• 1-Star Heroes – 79% Probability of being summoned

In this tier list for OUTERPLANE, we will be ranking the best characters in the game according to their usage in different PvP and PvE game modes. This tier list has been built keeping the hero’s skillset and base stats as prime factors. Keep in mind that OUTERPLANE is not released yet and this tier list is based on our initial impressions according to the 2nd closed beta test. We recommend players choose the heroes they want to take in their formations according to their requirements and liking, taking inspiration from this tier list. 

S Tier Heroes

Let’s take a look at some of the Heroes in this tier:

VALENTINE

Valentine is a 3-Star Fire elemental hero that is classified as a Ranger in-game. Valentine is obtainable either through Normal Recruit, Selective Summons, or her own rate-up banner. Valentine is considered one of the best DPS heroes in the game due to her high damage multipliers on her abilities as well as her immense support in pushing the Priority of allies with her basic skill. Valentine also provides tons of offensive buffs that boost DPS such as Critical Hit Chance and Critical Hit Damage buffs for 3 turns with her 2nd skill Lucky or Die. Her basic ability Trigger Happy is a single targeted damaging skill that deals fire elemental damage to a single enemy of choice and increases the priority of the ally with the highest attack by 20%. Valentine’s 3rd ability My Bloody Valentine is an AOE-targeted damaging skill that deals fire elemental damage to all enemies and increases the Attack of the ally with the highest Attack. This skill further reduces the Priority of all enemies hit by 40%.

VERONICA

Veronica is a 3-Star Water elemental hero that is classified as a Defender in-game. Veronica is obtainable either through Normal Recruit, Selective Summons, or her own rate-up banner. Veronica is one of the best defenders currently available in the closed beta test of the game. She can be added in different team compositions as she is played both offensively and defensively. Her Basic skill Battlefield Commander is a single targeted damaging skill that deals Water elemental damage to the enemy and further has a 70% chance of inflicting a Taunt debuff for 1 turn. If Veronica has an Increased Defense buff on herself, this skill will also result in a dual attack with the ally with the highest Attack. Her 2nd ability Commander’s Resolve is a passive ability that states that at the end of Veronica’s every turn, she will provide the ally with the lowest current HP% with a Shield. The Shield strength will be based off her own MAX HP. Further, this passive ability will also remove 2 debuffs from herself as well at the start of her turn. Veronica’s 3rd ability Endurance Cannon is an AOE-targeted damaging skill that deals water elemental damage to all enemies and grants an Increased Defense buff for 3 turns to all allies. Further, removes 1 buff from the enemy’s hit. 

MAXWELL

Maxwell is a 3-Star Dark elemental hero that is classified as a Mage in-game. Maxwell is obtainable either through Normal Recruit or his own rate-up banner. Maxwell is perhaps one of the most wanted Dark 3-Star heroes in the game due to his amazing skill set that boasts all AOE-targeted damaging abilities. He is considered as a top-tier DPS for PvP and PvE game modes alike. Maxwell’s basic ability Ray of Destruction is an AOE-targeted damaging skill that deals Dark elemental damage to all enemies while granting Increased Attack buff to himself. The damage dealt increases inversely proportionally to the number of targets. If this skill is used on his own turn, then Maxwell gains 2 stacks of Revelation of Truth. Maxwell’s 2nd skill Mana Converter is another AOE-targeted damaging skill that deals Dark elemental damage to all enemies. All enemies hit to get their buff duration reduced by 1 turn each. Also gets 3 stacks of Revelation of Truth after using this skill on his own turn. His 3rd ability Bless All Mages is an AOE-targeted damaging skill that deals Dark elemental damage to enemies and this damage is inversely proportional to the number of enemies. While using this skill, he will consume 5 stacks of Revelation of Truth to penetrate 30% of the target’s Defense.

SAERAN

Saeran is a 3-Star Wind elemental hero that is classified as a Healer in-game. Saeran is obtainable either through Normal Recruit or her own rate-up banner. Saeran is straight up the best healer in the game at the time of writing during the 2nd closed beta test of OUTERPLANE. Saeran’s basic ability Power of Light is a single targeted damaging ability that deals Wind elemental damage and has an 80% chance of removing 1 debuff from all allies. Her 2nd ability Gaze Upon Us is a single targeted healing skill where she selects a targeted ally and recovers their health. The healing amount is proportional to her own Health. Further, increases the ally’s AP by 25%. Saeran’s 3rd ability Arise is a single targeted healing and buffing skill where she instantly heals the selected ally up to 100% of their HP. Further, reduces the ally’s skill cooldowns by 2 turns and increases their Priority by 100%.

RIN

Rin is a 3-Star Water elemental hero that is classified as a Striker in-game. Rin is obtainable either through Normal Recruit or her own rate-up banner. Rin is the current rate-up banner hero in the 2nd limited closed beta test of the game. She is a great AOE damage dealer that establishes herself as a solid Water DPS. Rin’s basic ability Requiem is a single targeted damage dealer that Water elemental damage to the target while also increasing her own Priority by 20%. Her 2nd ability Shura Slash is the bread and butter of her entire skillset. This is an AOE-targeted damaging skill that deals Water elemental damage to all enemies and this damage will always have an advantage over the enemy, regardless of their element. Further, if Rin has a buff when casting the skill, this skill will not go on cooldown. Rin’s 3rd ability Doujikiri Yasutsuna is an AOE-targeted damaging ability that deals Water elemental damage to all enemies before increasing her own Critical Hit Chance for 2 turns.

FRANCESCA

Francesca is a 3-Star Dark elemental hero that is classified as a Striker in-game. Francesca is obtainable either through Normal Recruit or her own rate-up banner. Francesca has the highest base Attack in the game and has some heavy hitting single targeted damaging abilities. Her 1st ability Pretzel is a single targeted damaging skill that deals Dark elemental damage to the targeted enemy. Further, this skill has a 50% chance of inflicting 2 stacks of Bleeding for 2 turns each on the enemy. Francesca’s 2nd skill Pilgrimage is another single targeted damaging skill that deals dark elemental damage to the enemy with a 100% chance of inflicting 2 stacks of Bleeding for 2 turns each. Further, if this attack is successful in inflicting Bleeding, Francesca will follow up by attacking the same enemy again. Her 3rd ability Nine Inch Nails is a single targeted damaging skill that deals dark elemental damage to the enemy and has a 100% chance of removing all buffs from the enemy. If the target is having Bleeding before the attack, they will take more damage from this skill.

LEO

Leo is a 3-Star Light elemental hero that is classified as a Defender in-game. Leo is obtainable either through Normal Recruit or his own rate-up banner. Leo’s basic ability Justice’s Quad Strike is a single targeted damaging skill that deals Light elemental damage to the enemy. This skill has a 100% chance of granting him a Barrier for 2 turns. The barrier strength is directly proportional to his own Defense. Leo’s 2nd ability Courageous Protection is an AOE-targeted buffing skill where he grants himself Evasion for 3 turns and all allies a Barrier buff for 3 turns. The barrier strength is directly proportional to his own Defense. His 3rd ability Loving Justice Dive is an AOE-targeted damaging skill that deals Light elemental damage to all enemies. Further, has a 100% chance of granting a Resilience buff for 2 turns to all allies and an Invulnerability buff for 1 turn to all allies.

RHONA

Rhona is a 3-Star Wind elemental hero that is classified as a Striker in-game. Rhona is obtainable either through Normal Recruit or her own rate-up banner. Rhona’s basic ability Rose Slash is a multi-targeted damaging skill that deals wind elemental damage to the targeted enemy and 1 more random enemy. The damage dealt scales according to her own MAX HP. Her 2nd skill Tidal Wave is an AOE-targeted damaging skill that deals Wind elemental damage to all enemies and heals herself equal to 15% of the damage dealt. The damage dealt is proportional to her own MAX HP. Rhona’s 3rd ability End of the World is another AOE-targeted damaging skill that deals Wind elemental damage to all enemies with a 70% chance of inflicting a reduced Defense debuff for 2 turns. The damage dealt is proportional to her own MAX HP and inversely proportional to the number of enemies.

IDITH

Idith is a 2-Star Wind elemental hero that is classified as a Striker in-game. Idith is obtainable either through Normal Recruit or her own rate-up banner. Idith is one of those rare Strikers who deals damage according to her own Defense. This makes her an excellent brawler that can deal a good amount of damage while also tank damage for the team. Idith’s basic ability Triple Slash is a single targeted damaging skill that deals wind elemental damage to the enemy. This damage scales according to her own Defense. Her 2nd ability Antipathy is a passive skill that states Idith has an innate chance of Counterattacking enemies upon being attacked with a 60% chance. Her 3rd ability Noble Swordcraft is a single targeted damaging skill that deals wind elemental damage to the enemy and increases her own Defense for 2 turns.

B Tier Heroes

ALICE

Alice is a 3-Star Wind elemental hero that is classified as a Mage in-game. Alice is obtainable either through Normal Recruit or her own rate-up banner. Alice’s basic ability Dormouse Whiskers is a single targeted damaging skill that deals wind elemental damage to the enemy while having a 100% chance of granting herself a 50% Evasion buff for 2 turns. Alice’s 2nd skill Hatter’s Teacup is an AOE-targeted damaging skill that first removes 1 buff from all enemies with a 100% chance and further attacks all enemies dealing wind elemental damage. This skill also increases her own Priority by 25% for every enemy hit with this skill. Alice’s 3rd ability Alice in Wonderland is an AOE-targeted damaging skill that deals wind elemental damage to enemies while also having a 100% chance of inflicting Unbuffable debuff for 3 turns.

ELIZA

Eliza is a 3-Star Dark elemental hero that is classified as a Ranger in-game. Eliza is obtainable either through Normal Recruit or her own rate-up banner. Eliza’s basic ability Heart Seeker is a single targeted damaging skill that deals Dark elemental damage to the enemy while having an 80% chance of inflicting a Bleeding debuff for 2 turns. Her 2nd ability Bloody Roar has both passive and active effects. The passive effect states that enemies under Bleeding debuffs will take 15% more damage from all sources. The active effect is an AOE-targeted damaging skill that deals dark elemental damage to all enemies while having a 100% chance of inflicting Bleeding debuff for 2 turns. Eliza’s 3rd ability Pure Blood Archdemon is an AOE-targeted damaging skill that deals dark elemental damage to all enemies while having a 100% chance of removing 2 buffs from them. Further reduces the enemies Defense by 50% who are under Bleeding effects.

LAPLACE

Laplace is a 3-Star Water elemental hero that is classified as a Mage in-game. Laplace is obtainable either through Normal Recruit or her own rate-up banner. Laplace’s basic ability Aqua Sphere is a single targeted damaging skill that deals water elemental damage to the target while also having a 50% chance of inflicting Speed down debuff for 2 turns. Her 2nd skill Waterspout is a single targeted damaging skill that deals water elemental damage to the target while also having a 50% chance of inflicting Attack down debuff for 2 turns. Further, she grants a Barrier buff to all allies for 2 turns. The barrier strength is directly proportional to her own Attack. Laplace’s 3rd skill Grand Blue Punishment is a single targeted damaging skill that deals water elemental damage to the target. This skill will deal damage proportional to the number of debuffs the target has. Further, if Laplace manages to kill the enemy with the skill, she will instantly get another turn.
