Powerdise is gearing up to launch globally soon, with fresh open beta tests being conducted at the time of writing. The action-adventure game aims to deliver a virtual city-like experience to all players, enabling them to interact with each other via virtual avatars. The premiere game mode of Powerdise is called “Cube Wars”. It is an interactive team-based game, wherein players match with other opponents and partake in a strategic mini-game entailing different mechanics. You will learn about the different gameplay mechanics of Cube Wars, as well as some personal tips to help you win more matches.

What is Cube Wars?

Cube Wars is an engaging game mode in Powerdise that allows players to partake in a fun-filled action strategy-oriented mini-game. There are 4 sides, each demarcating a base for each of the team. Further, each team has 4 players. Each side has an Energy Core and a base. In the base, you can get passive Silver and respawn whenever you die. The condition to win for any side is when they destroy all the enemy’s Energy Cores. Players on the same team can coordinate with each other and can conjure up different strategies to protect their Core and to destroy enemy Cores.

Learn About the Controls and UI Elements of Cube Wars

The controls of the game mode are also quite simple and intuitive. You move your avatar with the virtual joystick, change the camera perspective by swiping left or right, and have access to different buttons on the side for different actions. The first button you will see is for Attack, and it is denoted by a Sword icon. You can tap on it to use your currently held weapon and use some basic attacks. On the right-hand side, you will also see Golden Cubes that you have.

These cubes are used to construct bridges or close gaps in open spaces. Simply tap on them or hold them continuously near an open space to lay them. There is also a Jump button that helps you jump through various terrains. Your abilities, depending on the role you chose, can be seen on the top right-hand side. You can activate them at the click of a button. Additionally, 3 empty slots can be seen when at the bottom right-hand side of the screen. These slots can be filled by consumables you purchase from the Shop.

The Gameplay Mechanics and Currencies of Cube Wars

The map where the game mode is played is called Mid-Island. Silver and Gold are the 2 main currencies of Cube Wars. Silver can be gained passively or by killing enemies. Gold can also be gained passively when you upgrade the Base technology or you can collect it from the 4 Gold Spawn points on the map. Players can use their collected Silver and Gold in the Supply Shop to get powerful equipment, items, and consumables. Crystals are also another currency in Cube Wars that can be used to buy Team Upgrades from your island’s Team Upgrades NPC. Each Crystal Island in the corner of the map has a Crystal Resource Point through where this currency occasionally drops after sometime.

Early Game Tips and Strategies

In Cube Wars, players need time to obtain resources and upgrade their defense for the Energy Core. This development time gives players from other factions a chance to organize an attack. The main idea of this aggro strategy is to quickly destroy the Energy Core while the defenders have not yet fully developed. Alternatively, this strategy can also delay the enemy’s development and wear them out before finally taking down their Energy Core.

Firstly, in terms of role selection, we recommend you choose at least 2 Rushers. Their high attack speed can quickly dismantle blocks and destroy the Energy Core. The remaining 2 positions can be reserved for a Builder and a Scientist as defenders. Alternatively, you can go with a Doctor to help attack the enemy base and provide healing so that the attack is more likely a success.

In the early stage, send the two Rushers to prepare for an attack as soon as possible. You can either use the bridge built by the enemy to start a direct assault or grab a piece of Gold from the central island, return to your base, and buy a Crazy Paver. Then, drop it directly above the enemy base to form a one-way bridge that is convenient for you to attack but difficult for the enemies to mount a counterattack.

Take advantage of the high mobility of your Rushers to never stop attacking the enemy base. Even if one wave of attack fails to destroy it, you can still take away some HP from the enemy’s Energy Core and deprive them of resources, slowing down their resource collection and development. Try to knock out one of the two enemy parties in the early stage as much as possible. This way, you can collect Silver from their base and develop your own with less pressure.

Mid Game Tips and Strategies

In the mid-game, Rushers should not spend too much resource on upgrading weapons because, while the aggro strategy gives you advantages through frequent attacks, it comes at the cost of high casualty rates. Instead, you should go to the central island to grab Gold for buying Invisibility Potions.

While you are invisible, quickly reach the enemy base to start the attack. Players can bring a few Bombs with them. First, go to the second floor of the enemy base, throw the bombs down from the edge to destroy the blocks surrounding the Energy Core and take out the Energy Core’s shield, and then jump down to destroy the Energy Core itself.

Late Game Tips and Strategies

In the late game, if your team’s Energy Core is still alive, try not to let the enemy team’s Energy Core survive until the 10-minute mark, at which point the Energy Cores will be activated. Since this strategy does not give you a resource advantage, it is also necessary to take away resources from other parties as much as possible.

After the Energy Cores are activated, collect enough resources to level up your weapons, armor, and team upgrades the fastest you can. Don’t forget to purchase Invisibility Potions, Stamina Potions, and Strength Potions as well. Occupy the advantageous terrain of the central island and engage in the final battle.

Playing Powerdise on a bigger screen of your PC with BlueStacks without worrying about battery drainage and smooth gameplay, is highly recommended.
