Enchantments are among the most powerful systems in Ragnarok X: Next Generation (ROX), allowing players to significantly improve their combat potential beyond base gear stats. While refining and smelting increase raw power, enchantments provide specific stat bonuses that can align closely with your class needs—such as Crit Rate for Rogues or Magic Penetration for Wizards.

What makes the enchantment system in ROX unique is its region-based structure: each city offers a distinct enchantment stat pool, encouraging players to travel, specialize, and strategize based on their desired builds. Whether you are a PvP contender or a PvE grinder, mastering enchantments is essential to compete at higher stages of content.

This guide provides a deep breakdown of enchantment types, materials, city bonuses, conversion mechanics, and optimization paths for different builds. If you are new to the game, we recommend checking out our Beginner’s Guide for Ragnarok X: Next Generation.

What Are Enchantments?

Enchantments are stat-enhancing modifications applied to weapons, armor, and accessories. These boosts can include:

  • Flat stat increases (STR, AGI, INT, etc.)
  • % increases to attributes (ATK%, DEF%)
  • Penetration, Magic Penetration
  • Critical Rate, Crit DMG
  • Elemental Resistances
  • PvP and PvE-exclusive bonuses

Each enchantment consists of one to three lines of randomized stats, and the quality is graded from Common to Excellent. Higher quality enchantments offer more powerful and desirable stat combinations.

Enchantment Types by City

Enchantments are tied to specific cities, and each city provides a different stat pool. Choosing where to enchant determines which stats you can get.

How to Enchant

Requirements:

  • Enchant Stones: Different per city and gear type (Weapon/Armor/Accessory)
  • Zeny: Cost increases with enchant quality
  • Materials: Collected through Life Skills (Smelting, Gardening)

Steps:

  • Visit the Enchantment NPC in the city of your choice.
  • Select the gear you want to enchant.
  • Confirm the materials and costs, then enchant.
  • Review the results. If you don’t get the desired stats, reroll.

Tip: Always use the “Lock” feature to preserve a good line when trying to improve others.

Enchantment Quality Grades

Enchantments come in three grades:

  • Basic: One line, common stats
  • Intermediate: Two lines, moderate stats
  • Excellent: Three lines, highest tier stat rolls (rare)

To get excellent enchantments, you’ll need:

  • Large amounts of Zeny
  • Rare materials
  • Enchant at higher-level NPCs (Morroc, Payon, Geffen)

Enchantment Conversion (Aldebaran System)

Sometimes, you may want to switch from one city’s enchantment type to another without starting over.

Unlock Location:

  • Aldebaran City (unlocked after base level 70)

Conversion Process:

  • Visit the Enchantment Converter NPC.
  • Select the gear with the current enchantment.
  • Choose the target city’s enchantment you want to convert to.
  • Use Conversion Stones and Zeny to apply the change.

Types of Conversion Stones:

  • Dark Stillness Stone – Weapons
  • Solar Stone – Armor
  • Starlight Stone – Accessories

Note: Converting enchantments reduces enchant level by 1.

Enchantment Farming: How to Get More Stones and Mats

Methods:

  • Life Skills (especially Smelting and Gardening):
  • Source of core mats to craft enchant stones
  • Guild Donations and Events:
  • Often reward mid- to high-tier stones

Enchantment Tips and Optimization

  • Don’t waste rare stones on low-tier gear. Always save for purple or orange-grade gear.
  • Lock your best stat lines when re-enchanting to avoid losing perfect rolls.
  • Farm mats in bulk—you’ll need hundreds of smelted ores and herbs.
  • Plan city enchantments based on content. PvP = Geffen, PvE Bossing = Morroc or Payon.
  • Avoid converting often. Conversions cost rare resources and downgrade the enchantment.

Enchantments in Ragnarok X: Next Generation are the ultimate form of gear personalization. They allow you to maximize your character’s strength, compensate for weaknesses, and push your build to its true potential—whether you’re topping DPS charts, tanking guild bosses, or winning PvP.

This system demands investment, planning, and time—but the payoff is substantial. Start with lower-tier city enchantments like Prontera, and as you progress, aim for Morroc and Payon enchantments tailored to your class. When your gear reaches orange rarity, aim for Excellent 3-line stats with city synergy, and only convert if necessary.

With the right knowledge and preparation, you’ll turn your gear into god-tier equipment capable of carrying your entire team.
