Run! Goddess Beginners Guide – Learn the Core Game Mechanics

Run! Goddess is a vibrant and fast-paced idle-action RPG that merges mythological fantasy with side-scrolling combat and real-time dodging. As a new player, you’re thrust into a world where powerful goddesses battle monstrous foes, collect magical gear, and grow stronger with each run. The gameplay is simple to grasp but has plenty of strategic depth, making it both accessible and engaging. This guide sheds light on some of the core fundamental gameplay mechanics from mastering dodge mechanics, to choosing the right upgrades!
Understand the Core Gameplay Loop of Run! Goddess
At its core, Run! Goddess combines idle auto-attacks with active movement. Your chosen goddess constantly runs forward while automatically attacking enemies. As the player, your role is to control her dodges and movement to avoid taking damage, especially during boss fights or heavy mob waves. Each successful run gives you rewards, gear, and experience points to upgrade your character further.
The gameplay loop is as follows:
- Select a stage and valkyries.
- Start the run, where the valkyries auto-fights.
- Defeat mini-bosses and collect treasure.
- Complete the level and return to base for upgrades.
Armory Box
The Armory Box is the most important game system to understand in Run! Goddess. Players can get differing rarities of items and equipment from this box for free. The quality and quantity of the equipment is directly related to the level of the armory box. Players can increase the level of this box by completing certain conditions, and then spending some Gold. The gold amount exponentially increases as you increase the level. Once done, the box will take some time to get upgraded. You can use your saved speed-ups to enhance this procedure faster. However, the end result is worth the efforts as the quality of equipment decided how strong your valkyries can get.
Each valkyrie requires individual equipment, and you will be constantly operating the armory box to fulfill the requirements. Keep in mind, the box works automatically and does not require manual intervention. When it strikes an equipment, the current equipment if equipped and the new equipment both will reflect on your screen at the same time. Players can then choose whether they want to replace the existing piece with the new equipment piece or not.
Valkyries
The valkyries are the playable female characters in Run! Goddess. These fictional beauties are not here just for the style and show but are fully equipped with multiple active and passive abilities that can be used in combat scenarios. Valkyries are your main bread and butter characters that can be trained according to your liking. Yes, their abilities remain fixed but players can customize how they want to build their valkyries, thanks to the variety of equipment available. Since Run! Goddess is an RPG game; players can enhance their valkyries to gain more power. This can be done via the following ways:
- Level Up – Your valkyries can be levelled up to gain better base stats in terms of attack, health, and defense. Levels can be gained via consuming experience potions gained from battling in the main story stages. Other ways to get exp is participating in events, completing quests, and redeem codes. Your valkyries can only level up to a certain point, after which they will be needed to have their star level upgraded.
- Star Up – This process requires having summoned duplicate copy of the same valkyrie, or collecting enough shards of the valkyrie. These shards can be collected via the gacha system, or events. Once starred up, the valkyrie will see massive enhancements in their attack, defense, and MAX HP.
- Skill Up – As the name might suggest, this process involves upgrading the skills of your valkyries. This process is more time taking, and requires you to star up your valkyrie up to certain times. Each star up also results in the valkyries skill’s getting upgraded. This can be a very expensive procedure, especially for higher rarity valkyries.
Understand the Summoning System
The summoning system in Run! Goddess makes use of the gacha mechanics to help players get their hands on their desired valkyries. Players can summon one regular banner that holds all different rarities of valkyries at differing probabilities. The rarities of valkyries and their respective probability of being summoned are as follows:
- UR Valkyries – 3% chance of being summoned
- SSR Valkyries – 10.8% chance of being summoned
- SR Valkyries – 86.2% chance of being summoned
The summoning system does have an innate pity system built into it that triggers if you reach 100 summons without getting any UR valkyrie. Keep in mind, pieces of UR valkyrie does not count. Players can summon on the banner using either their Diamonds or using Valkyrie Recruitment Tickets. It costs 100 diamonds to summon one time, and 1000 diamonds for a 10 pull.
Players can enjoy playing Run! Goddess on a bigger screen of their PC or Laptop via BlueStacks along with your keyboard and mouse.
