In this tier list for Summoners War: Sky Arena, we have taken into consideration many factors while deciding on the monsters to choose. Sadly, we cannot rank all the monsters as the game contains over 500 unique ones. We have hand-picked some of the most popular monsters that excel in both PvE and PvP game modes. To do research, we have taken a brief look at various community opinions of these monsters and their usability in different game modes according to in-game monster data. Keep in mind this is a speculative tier list and not a definitive one as each individual player has different runes with different stats. It’s best to build these monsters with ideal runes to make the best use out of them.

S Tier Monsters

Let’s take a look at all of the monsters in this tier:

MASHA (Fire Beast Rider)

Masha is a natural 5-Star monster that is the awakened form of Fire Beast Master. Her usability in PvP game modes such as RTA and Guild Wars is unlike any other. She is often considered as the core DPS of any team she is put in. Her 1st basic skill Spear of Protector states the following – “Attacks the enemy to decrease the Attack Speed for 2 turns with a 30% chance. The faster your Attack Speed compared to the enemy’s, the greater damage you can inflict.” Her 2nd active ability Fast Link does as follow – “The fast your Attack Speed, the greater the damage becomes. Attacks the enemy with the beast 2 times. The beast’s attack weakens the enemy’s Defense for 1 turn, and the rider’s attack absorbs the enemy’s Attack Bar by 25% for each harmful effect granted on the target, up to 100%”

Masha also has 2 passive abilities, increasing her overall utility. The first passive ability Wild Steps states the following – ” The Attack Bar increasing skill effect granted on yourself increases by 50%, and the Attack Bar decreasing skill effect granted on yourself decreases by 50%. Also, your Attack Speed increases by 10% whenever your Attack Bar increases due to skills, up to 5 times.” Her 2nd passive ability Rider, is crucial to support her overall skillset, and states as follows – “Dismounts the beast to battle when you’re inflicted with damage that may cause you to die.”

JOSEPHINE (Water Paladin)

Josephine is a natural 5-Star monster that is the awakened form of Water Paladin. Josephine is the queen of tank and spank compositions in the RTA and Arena game modes. She is able to deal a decent chunk of damage, crucial stun debuffs on her basic ability, and is able to protect allies from getting disability effects. Her 1st basic skill Justice Strike states the following – “Attacks and stuns the enemy for 1 turn with a 55% chance. Your attacks won’t land as Glancing Hits.” Her 2nd active ability Fury of Punishment does as follow – “Attacks the enemy 2 times to remove the beneficial effect with a 75% chance each and provokes the enemy for 1 turn. Afterwards, counterattacks whenever you’re attacked for 2 turns.”

Josephine’s 1st passive ability Heavenly Blessing states the following – ” Creates a shield that’s proportionate to 20% of your HP on all allies for 2 turns when an ally gets granted with inability effects. Afterwards, removes all harmful effects granted on yourself, counterattacks the enemy target that attacked and gains a turn instantly.” This ability is usable once in every 6 turns, but can be skilled down to a 4 turn cooldown.

CHEONGPUNG (Wind Art Master)

Cheongpung is a natural 5-Star monster that is the awakened form of Wind Art Master. His usability in PvP game modes as a disabler and debuffer is unmatched. A single monster that is able to strip buffs from enemies, put their Attack Bar to 0, and increase their skill cooldowns. Yes, he finds use in multiple different team compositions. His 1st basic skill Mark of Brush Tip states the following – “Attacks the enemy to decrease the Attack By by 30% with a 50% chance.” His 2nd active ability Moon Drawn by Clouds does as follow – “Attacks all enemies to decrease their Defense for 2 turns with a 50% chance. In addition, removes the beneficial effects granted on all enemies and increases the chances of landing a Glancing Hit for 2 turns with a 50% chance each.”

Cheongpung’s real utility comes with his 3rd active ability Serious Matter, which states the following – “Attacks all enemies 3 times to decrease their Attack Bar by 50% with each attack. Increases the skill cooldown time by 1 turn if the target’s Attack Bar is 0.” This ability is usable once in every 5 turns, but can be skilled down to a 4 turn cooldown.

SHIZUKA (Water Onmyouji)

Shizuka is a natural 5-Star monster that is the awakened form of Water Onmyouji. Shizuka has recently risen to be placed among the top monsters in rankings. This is partly due to her recent buffs in April 2023 but also due to the meta of PvP shifting away from speed cleave teams. Shizuka is best used with bruiser team compositions as she can effectively cleanse all debuffs from allies and transfer them to enemies. Her 1st basic skill Burning Soul states the following – “Attacks the enemy and removes one beneficial effect with a 50% chance. Absorbs the enemy’s Attack Bar by 30% with a 30% chance when you attack on your turn.”

Shizuka’s 2nd active ability Past Life Spell does as follow – “Summons the soul of the dead ally and uses the target’s skill once. At this time, the target’s passive skill won’t be applied. When used on a living ally, grants Soul Protection on the target for 2 turns and decreases the skill cooldown time by 1 turn.” Shizuka’s 3rd active ability All Things in Nature states the following – “Applies all harmful effects granted on this battle to each enemy for 1 turn each and applies all beneficial effects to each ally for 1 turn each.” This ability is usable once in every 6 turns, but can be skilled down to a 5 turn cooldown.

WOOSA (Water Pioneer)

Woosa is a natural 5-Star monster that is the awakened form of Water Pioneer. Woosa is used in multiple game modes, both PvE and PvP. He is especially used in RTA with bruiser/tank team compositions due to his low cooldown buffing skills. Woosa is also used in some Dragon dungeon teams due to elemental advantage and a consistent source of protective buffs. His 1st basic skill Yin Yang Attack states the following – “Attacks the enemy with the power of Yin and Yang and puts the enemy to sleep for 2 turns with a 20% chance. The damage increases according to your MAX HP.” His 2nd active ability Mountain’s Power does as follow – “Attacks the enemy with the might of the mountains to inflict damage by 20% of your MAX HP and recovers the HP of all allies by 15% of your MAX HP”

Woosa’s real usage comes with his 3rd active ability Wish of Immortality, which states the following – ” Grants immunity to all allies that lasts for 3 turns and creates a shield equal to 15% of my HP.” This ability is usable once in every 5 turns, but can be skilled down to a 4 turn cooldown.

A Tier Monsters

Let’s take a look at all of the monsters in this tier:

ETHNA (Wind Hell Lady)

Ethna is a natural 5-Star monster that is the awakened form of Wind Hell Lady. Ethna is definitely pushed in rankings quite a few notches due to her recent buffs made to base Speed and 2nd skill. She is still primarily used in RTA and Arena as a speedy opener but many players have proved her usefulness in Giants dungeon as well. Her 1st basic skill Wound states the following – “Attacks the enemy with a sharp blade and inflicts continuous damage for 2 turns with a 50% chance.” Her 2nd active ability Shatter does as follow – “Attacks all enemies 2 times with a sharp wind and weakens the Defense for 2 turns with a 50% chance for each attack. Your Attack Bar will increase by 10% each when the attack lands as a Critical Hit.”

Ethna’s 3rd active ability Capture states the following – “Attacks an enemy target 5 times to steal 1 beneficial effect with each attack and Stuns the enemy for 1 turn with a 30% chance. The chance of the enemy being stunned increases as the enemy’s HP decreases after the attack. The stun is guaranteed if the enemy has 50% or less HP.” This ability is usable once in every 5 turns, but can be skilled down to a 4 turn cooldown.

VANESSA (Fire Valkyrja)

Vanessa is a natural 5-Star monster that is the awakened form of Fire Valkyrja. Vanessa remains as the dominant force on the battlefield in RTA and Guild Wars due to her 33% Attack Speed lead. She is also quite useful as a pseudo-DPS and reviver that can be put on a revenge set to counterattack. Her 1st basic skill Sword of Promise states the following – “Attacks with a sword and increases the enemy’s skill cooldown by 1 turn each with a 20% chance.  [Seal of Fire] is automatically activated if the enemy dies.” Her 2nd active ability Seal of Fire does as follow – “Attacks an enemy, dealing damage proportionate to the enemy’s MAX HP, and decreases its Defense for 2 turns”

Vanessa’s 1st passive ability Warrior’s Return states the following – ” Revives the dead ally with 30% HP and increases the revived ally’s Attack Power for 1 turn. In addition, if [Warrior’s Return] skill is available to be used, the skill will be activated instantly when another ally takes damage that causes death.” This ability is usable once in every 8 turns, but can be skilled down to a 6 turn cooldown.

NANA (Water Mage)

Nana is a natural 5-Star monster that is the awakened form of Water Mage. Nana is the best reviver in the game hands down. Her passive ability allows her to collect Souls of enemies and use them to revive your allies in case they die. She is also widely used as a failsafe option in cleave teams due to her 2nd skill being a great setup for DPS monsters. Her 1st basic skill Magical Eye states the following – “Attacks the enemy 2 times and decreases the Attack Power for 2 turns with a 35% chance with each attack.” Her 2nd active ability Mana Storm does as follow – “Attacks all enemies with the magic energy to decrease their Defense for 2 turns with a 75% chance.” This ability is usable once in every 4 turns, but can be skilled down to a 3 turn cooldown.

Nana’s 1st passive ability Soul Harvest states the following – “Creates a soul stone when the battle begins. In addition, harvests a soul and creates a soul stone when an enemy dies on an ally’s turn. Up to 3 soul stones can be stored up, and consumes 1 saved soul stone to revive the ally with 40% HP when an ally dies.”

ABELLIO (Water Druid)

Abellio is a natural 5-Star monster that is the awakened form of Water Druid. Abellio is a unique monster as he has 4 abilities in total. On top if it, he can transform into 2 forms and gains new abilities upon transformation. He is widely used in aggressive bruiser team compositions because of his bulky nature, heals, and attack bar push. His 1st basic skill Touch of Punishment states the following – “Attacks an enemy and stuns the target for 1 turn with a 35% chance.” His 2nd active ability Wild Blow does as follow – “Attacks an enemy to inflict damage that increases according to your Defense and recovers 30% of the inflicted damage as HP. In addition, when used in Beast Form, the damage you inflict will be increased by 20% and then transforms into Druid Form.”

Abellio’s 3rd active ability Wild Cure does as follow – “Recovers HP of all allies by 30%. In addition, when used in Beast Form, increases the Attack Bar of all allies by 15% and then transforms into Beast Form to Provoke all enemies for 1 turn with a 50% chance.” Abellio’s 1st passive ability Druid’s Wit states the following – “Removes all harmful effects granted on yourself and increases your Attack Bar by 100% if an ally’s HP falls to 40% or below from an attack.”

B Tier Monsters

Let’s look at all of the monsters in this tier:

XING ZHE (Wind Monkey King)

Xing Zhe is a natural 5-Star monster that is the awakened form of Wind Monkey King. Xing Zhe has become quite lacklustre with the recent patches as there are so many monsters who bring more things to the table than him. Nonetheless, he still remains to be a favourite for many to use in niche team comps in RTA. He is also widely used in Giants dungeon teams. His 1st basic skill Monkey Wand states the following – “Attacks with the Monkey Wand and stuns the enemy for 1 turn with a 35% chance.”

His 2nd active ability Lightning Monkey Wand does as follow – “Attacks and decreases the Defense for 2 turns with a 75% chance and recovers your Attack Bar by 50%.” Xing Zhe’s real usage comes with his 1st passive ability Stone Monkey, which states the following – ” Decreases the incoming damage by 35% and counterattacks with a 35% chance when an ally is attacked”

VERAD (Water Dragon)

Verad is a natural 5-Star monster that is the awakened form of Water Dragon. Verad is an old school monster, released first almost 9 years ago. He is still widely considered as one of the best PvE monsters in the game due to his vast amount of crowd control abilities that are available at short cooldowns. His utility in PvE game modes such as Trial of Ascension, and Rift dungeons are matched second to none. His 1st basic skill Ice Bolt states the following – “Shoots an Ice arrow at the enemy.”

His 2nd active ability Snowstorm does as follow – “Attacks all enemies with a storm of ice, dealing damage proportionate to your Defense and freezing them for 1 turn with a 60% chance. Increases the turn of freezing effect up to 2 turns with a 60% chance if you attack the frozen enemy.” Verad becomes a true Crowd control monster due to his 3rd active ability Absolute Zero, which states the following – ” Attacks all enemies with a gust of freezing wind, dealing damage proportionate to your Defense and setting the Attack Bar to 0. Additionally, the enemies are frozen for 1 turn.”

CHOW (Water Dragon Knight)

Chow is a natural 5-Star monster that is the awakened form of Water Dragon Knight. Chow is another one of the classic monsters that is in the game since the start. Sadly, he has been powercrept quite hard even with Com2US providing him significant buffs. He finds his place in the B tier of this list due to his niche potential to solo entire teams if he gets lucky with counters and violent set procs. His 1st basic skill Dragon’s Might states the following – “Inflicts continuous damage for 2 turns if you land a Critical Hit.”

His 2nd active ability Justice does as follow – “Channels burning rage to inflict great damage to an enemy. The damage increases according to the number of dead allies.” Chow’s true potential as a solo bruiser is unlocked due to his 1st passive ability Flow, which states the following – “Gains immunity against HP recovery disturbance effects, removes 2 harmful effects, and recovers 15% HP at the start of your turn. Also, the damage you deal will be increased according to your current HP.”
