Why limit yourself to your small screen on the phone? Run AndMeasure (Area & Distance), an app by Mikkel Christensen, best experienced on your PC or Mac with BlueStacks, the world’s #1 Android emulator.
AndMeasure is basically a map ruler that feels straightforward and exact, the kind of tool that makes sense the moment someone drops the first marker. Tap to place points, drag them around, and it calculates distance or area right away. On a PC with BlueStacks it is nicer than on a small phone screen, since the mouse clicks land markers precisely and there is more room to see the whole site or field. The continuous mode is there for real time distance to the current location, and even when sitting at a desk it is handy for quick what if checks while adjusting points.
What stands out is how many real uses it covers without getting complicated. Landscaping, lawn or fence planning, figuring out water lines or paving, measuring fields in farming or forestry, even realtors showing how far a place is from a school or train stop. For fun stuff, it helps map off road loops, running routes, paddling distances, range estimates at the range, and yes, checking how far to the green in golf. Units are not an issue, it flips between acres, square miles, square feet, square meters, square kilometers, hectares, even ares. Map layers can switch between satellite, terrain, hybrid, or plain. It finds location by GPS or network, and measurements or screenshots share out easily. Markers can be added with a tap or by dragging from the add button, then nudged around for that last bit of accuracy. The app keeps to itself, no personal data hoarding, and it feels fast and clean to use.
Big screen. Bigger performance. Use BlueStacks on your PC or Mac to run your favorite apps.
