Team Rocket has taken over Pokémon TCG Pocket with Team Rocket’s Ambition, an expansion released on August 26, 2026. The set puts Team Rocket and its Pokémon at the center, introducing new cards featuring the organization’s logo, Team Rocket-themed Trainer cards, collection challenges, limited events, and plenty of rewards to pursue.

Collectors have quite a bit to keep track of. Team Rocket’s Ambition includes several hidden missions that only become apparent as their requirements are completed, while the separate Great Puzzle Challenge offers additional Pack Hourglasses. Events tied to the expansion also run throughout September.

If you are working toward completing the expansion rather than simply opening packs, knowing the secret mission requirements can save a lot of guesswork.

Team Rocket’s Ambition Expansion Overview

Team Rocket’s Pokémon are the main attraction of the expansion. Their cards feature familiar Pokémon alongside Team Rocket members, while new Trainer cards expand the theme beyond the Pokémon themselves.

Some of the cards involved in the expansion’s secret missions include Team Rocket’s Tinkaton, Team Rocket’s Hypno, Team Rocket’s Kecleon, Team Rocket’s Drowzee, Team Rocket’s Weezing ex, and Team Rocket’s Raticate ex. Trainer cards such as Team Rocket’s Boss, Team Rocket’s Researcher, Team Rocket’s Master Plan, Team Rocket’s Thieving Machine, and Team Rocket’s Goo-zooka also have dedicated collection objectives.

Several additional events accompany the expansion. The Team Rocket’s Ambition Emblem Event runs around late August through mid-September, while special missions involving Team Rocket’s shady tickets continue into late September. September also brings solo battles featuring Team Rocket’s Lapras in promo packs and a Wonder Pick event with Fennekin and Meowstic promo cards.

There is also a sizable collection of secret missions. Some require only two or three cards, while the hardest ask you to collect dozens of Team Rocket cards or even complete the entire themed collection.

All Team Rocket’s Ambition Secret Missions

Secret missions are especially useful for collectors because they provide extra rewards for completing specific card combinations. Some requirements are based on a card’s artwork or theme rather than something immediately obvious from its gameplay.

Team Rocket’s Ambitions Museum 1

This mission requires the six specific holographic cards numbered 073 through 078:

Delphox, Team Rocket’s Hypno, Team Rocket’s Tinkaton, Team Rocket’s Kecleon, Happiny, and Lechonk.

Completing the collection rewards 36 Wonder Hourglasses, 12 Pack Hourglasses, and 10 Shop Tickets.

Team Rocket’s Ambitions Museum 2

The second Museum mission moves to six higher-rarity cards numbered 088 through 093:

Team Rocket’s Moltres ex, Team Rocket’s Articuno ex, Team Rocket’s Zapdos ex, Team Rocket’s Slowking ex, Team Rocket’s Weezing ex, and Team Rocket’s Raticate ex.

The reward is another 36 Wonder Hourglasses, 12 Pack Hourglasses, and 10 Shop Tickets.

Search for Legendary Pokémon!

For this mission, collect Team Rocket’s Tinkaton, Team Rocket’s Houndour, and Team Rocket’s Lapras.

The reward is 12 Wonder Hourglasses and 2 Shop Tickets.

Invade the Lab!

This laboratory-themed mission requires four cards: Team Rocket’s Kecleon, Team Rocket’s Ekans, Team Rocket’s Muk, and Team Rocket’s Tinkatuff.

Completing it awards 12 Wonder Hourglasses and 2 Shop Tickets.

Recruit for Team Rocket!

The recruitment mission asks for Team Rocket’s Hypno, Team Rocket’s Mr. Mime, and Team Rocket’s Meowth.

The reward is 12 Wonder Hourglasses and 2 Shop Tickets.

Boss and Partner

Giovanni needs his partner for this mission. You need either version of Team Rocket’s Boss, card 071 or 087, plus Team Rocket’s Persian, card 061.

Completing the pair rewards 12 Wonder Hourglasses and 2 Shop Tickets.

Coin Pile

Coin Pile requires Gimmighoul 034, Arcade 072, and either version of Gholdengo.

The reward is 12 Wonder Hourglasses and 2 Shop Tickets.

Illumise and Volbeat

One of the simplest secret missions requires just Illumise 002 and Volbeat 001.

Collecting both rewards 12 Wonder Hourglasses and 2 Shop Tickets.

Big-Nosed Pokémon

This unusually specific collection asks for Team Rocket’s Drowzee, Cufant, and Copperajah.

You receive 12 Wonder Hourglasses and 2 Shop Tickets for completing it.

Pokémon Holding Things in Hands

This is a larger artwork-based collection mission. You need eight Pokémon fitting the theme: Delphox, Hypno, Oranguru, Cubone, Marowak, Tinkatink, Tinkatuff, and Tinkaton.

The supplied mission information indicates that any eligible version of Delphox and Hypno can count, and any version of Tinkaton also works.

The reward is 12 Wonder Hourglasses and 2 Shop Tickets.

Secret Missions That Unlock Icons and Badges

Not every secret mission rewards Hourglasses or Tickets. Several of the more Team Rocket-specific collections instead unlock profile icons and badges.

The Researcher’s Suspicious Inventions requires Team Rocket’s Thieving Machine 067, any version of Team Rocket’s Goo-zooka, and any version of Team Rocket’s Researcher. Completing it unlocks a Team Rocket Researcher icon.

Team Rocket Grunt 1 requires any version of Team Rocket’s Master Plan plus three qualifying cards from its specified Pokémon pool. That pool includes Magmar, Lapras, Voltorb, Electrode, Slowpoke, Drowzee, Hypno, Mr. Mime, Grimer, Muk, and Koffing. Duplicates can count toward the three-card requirement. The reward is the Team Rocket Grunt 1 icon.

Team Rocket Grunt 2 follows the same structure with a different pool. Qualifying Pokémon include Houndour, Houndoom, Pincurchin, Ekans, Arbok, Sneasel, Tinkatink, Tinkatuff, Rattata, Meowth, Persian, and Kecleon. You again need any Team Rocket’s Master Plan plus three qualifying cards. This unlocks the Team Rocket Grunt 2 icon.

For Beware of Poison Gas!, collect three qualifying cards involving Koffing or the available Team Rocket’s Weezing ex versions. This mission rewards the Team Rocket Grunt 3 icon.

The Big Team Rocket Collection Missions

A few secret missions are designed to take considerably longer because they count the total number of qualifying cards you have collected.

Team Rocket’s Pokémon requires 100 Pokémon cards bearing the Team Rocket mark. Duplicates count, so you do not need 100 unique cards. Completing this objective awards the Team Rocket Boss icon.

Get 3 Team Rocket’s Drowzee Cards! requires three copies of Team Rocket’s Drowzee 027 and rewards its own exclusive Team Rocket’s Drowzee icon.

Team Rocket Grunt Army! asks you to collect 20 copies of Team Rocket’s Master Plan. All three available versions count, and duplicates contribute to the total. Your reward is the Team Rocket Grunt badge.

Suspicious Inventions Collector works similarly. You need 42 Team Rocket Item cards, with qualifying versions of Team Rocket’s Thieving Machine and Team Rocket’s Goo-zooka counting toward the objective. Duplicates count here as well. Completion awards the Team Rocket Researcher badge.

Finally, All Team Rocket Cards Complete! is the major completionist challenge. It requires collecting all 56 cards bearing the Team Rocket name. Completing the entire collection awards the Team Rocket Boss badge.

These long-term missions mean duplicate pulls are not necessarily wasted. If you are aiming for every badge and icon, repeated Team Rocket Pokémon, Master Plan, and qualifying Item cards can continue advancing these totals.

Team Rocket’s Ambition: The Great Puzzle Challenge

Team Rocket’s Ambition also has a separate web-based activity called The Great Puzzle Challenge.

It runs from August 27 through September 30, 2026, and unlike the secret missions, the puzzles are completed outside the Pokémon TCG Pocket app. Finishing the challenge provides a gift code that can be redeemed for 24 Pack Hourglasses.

The challenge progresses through Poke Ball, Great Ball, and Ultra Ball levels, with puzzles involving cards, Pokémon names, types, damage, and interactive elements on the event page.

For players who simply want the answers, they are:

The Ultra Ball section combines several interactive puzzles. It eventually requires identifying Pokémon with different types from the previous answers, interacting with the Team Rocket’s Boss Coin, and manipulating an element from an earlier puzzle to reveal the final phrase, You pass.

Players who earn the gift code have until November 30, 2026 to redeem it.

What to Prioritize in Team Rocket’s Ambition

There is no need to chase every secret mission immediately. Many of them overlap naturally.

Cards such as Team Rocket’s Tinkaton, Hypno, Kecleon, Drowzee, and Weezing ex appear across multiple objectives, so obtaining them can advance several collections at once. Meanwhile, duplicate Team Rocket cards can contribute to the larger quantity-based missions.

The Great Puzzle Challenge is also worth completing while it remains available because its reward does not depend on your pack luck. The 24 Pack Hourglasses can then go directly toward additional pack openings.

Completionists should pay closer attention to Team Rocket’s Master Plan and the qualifying Team Rocket Item cards. Their respective 20-card and 42-card missions require far more copies than the smaller themed collections.

Ultimately, Team Rocket’s Ambition gives collectors goals beyond simply filling the expansion’s card list. Even a duplicate can contribute toward an icon, badge, or larger Team Rocket collection milestone.
