PUBG Mobile is getting a new Lite client designed to make the battle royale more accessible without heavily cutting back the core experience. PUBG Mobile producer Rick has officially announced PUBG Mobile Lite for 2026, with a much smaller initial download, optional content modules, account compatibility, and the ability to play alongside users of the regular PUBG Mobile app. Meanwhile, Battlegrounds Mobile India Lite, or BGMI Lite, is also scheduled to arrive in India before the end of the year.

Neither game has an exact release date yet. However, PUBG Mobile Lite pre-registration is set to begin on August 25, giving players their first opportunity to sign up ahead of its launch.

PUBG Mobile Lite Officially Announced for 2026

PUBG Mobile Lite is being developed for players who want to get into matches faster while using less storage and putting less strain on their devices. However, the developers have stressed that the goal isn’t simply to create a smaller PUBG Mobile with a significantly reduced experience.

Instead, the new app keeps the main features of PUBG Mobile while changing how its content is downloaded. The initial PUBG Mobile Lite download will be around 1 GB on Android and under 2 GB on iOS. There are also no additional mandatory packages that must be downloaded before entering your first match.

After installing the initial client, players can choose which additional modules they want to download based on the content they actually use. This should give users more control over how much storage PUBG Mobile occupies on their devices.

PUBG Mobile Lite Keeps the Core PUBG Mobile Experience

Despite the reduced initial download, PUBG Mobile Lite remains connected to the regular version of the game. The classic Erangel map, supplies, and core combat are designed to match PUBG Mobile, preserving the familiar battle royale experience.

Existing players won’t need to completely start over either. You can sign into PUBG Mobile Lite using an existing PUBG Mobile account, with owned items carrying over so you can continue using your outfits.

The two clients will also remain connected socially. PUBG Mobile Lite players can team up with friends playing through the standard PUBG Mobile app, meaning squads won’t have to use the same client to play together.

Finally, PUBG Mobile Lite is planned to receive updates alongside PUBG Mobile. This should allow players on both versions to access new content together rather than turning the Lite client into a separate version that falls behind the main game.

PUBG Mobile Lite Release Date and Pre-Registration

There is currently no exact PUBG Mobile Lite release date. The official announcement confirms that the developers are targeting a launch later in 2026.

However, players won’t have to wait until launch to register their interest. PUBG Mobile Lite pre-registration begins on August 25, 2026, ahead of the full release.

BGMI Lite Is Also Coming to India in 2026

Players in India are getting a similar option with Battlegrounds Mobile India Lite. Krafton India has confirmed that BGMI Lite is in development and is scheduled to launch by the end of 2026.

Like PUBG Mobile Lite, the main goal is accessibility, particularly for players using older, budget, or entry-level smartphones that may struggle with the full BGMI client.

However, there are fewer confirmed details about BGMI Lite for now. Krafton has not announced its download size, system requirements, gameplay features, or exact release date. As a result, it is too early to assume that BGMI Lite will have exactly the same features or requirements as the newly announced PUBG Mobile Lite.
