The game has a ton of different PvE and PvP game modes where players can test their acquired heroes. Complete with a gacha system that gives players the opportunity to summon for new heroes, a lot of customization options can also be found. For new players starting their adventures, this Realm Traveler beginners guide serves as the perfect starter toolkit. Let’s get to know the different in-game systems.
Understanding the Gameplay Mechanics of Realm Traveler
In Realm Traveler, the adventure mode is the primary game mode where the storyline unfolds. A lot of the gameplay elements and content is locked behind completing certain adventure mode stages. The starting tutorial also explains some of the core combat mechanics via the adventure stages. Hence, focus all your initial attention towards reaching the end of 1st chapter. Not only will this task reward you with experience but also with significant rewards that can be used for faster progression.

Slowly, you will be unlocking new game modes and systems such as the Hero tab. From this tab, you can see all your owned and summoned heroes. These are the characters you use in combat situations. The entire narrative of Realm Traveler revolves around summoning new heroes and building a team around them for maximum efficiency. You should be looking for more ways to strengthen your combat power by upgrading them.
The Combat Mechanics of Realm Traveler Explained
For starters, combat in Realm Traveler happens in real-time. Players are required to build teams consisting of 5 different heroes. These heroes are primarily acquired from the innate gacha system and as part of event rewards. In the starting, there are a limited amount of combat formations unlocked. Gradually, as you level up, new types of formations will be unlocked for you to freely strategize with. Now, once this is done, simply press the “Start” button to engage in battles.

The combat happens in real-time wherein you can see the allied and enemy characters on the screen. Your deployed hero’s avatar icons can be seen at the bottom of the screen. Their red bar denotes their current HP status. When taking damage, the red bar will go down. The yellow bar represents the energy bar and energy is gained when heroes attack enemies or take damage. When the yellow bar is full, tap on the characters avatar to unleash their ultimate ability. Aside from this, your heroes will use their basic attacks and special attacks on their turn automatically, and when the skill is not on cooldown.

Realm Traveler offers a ton of combat tools such as increased battle speed, and auto battles. These quality-of-life features unlock when you reach certain chapter stages in the adventure mode. They are crucial to speed up your progress and fasten the stage clears. Since there isn’t much to do manually, once your team is strong enough, simply put the combat to “Auto” mode.
Heroes
Realm Traveler has an in-depth hero system that is accessible to all players. It’s pretty easy to locate, seen beside the adventure mode at the bottom side of the screen. Players can click on it to view all their owned heroes. Like a true RPG, Realm Traveler allows you to upgrade and enhance your heroes. This boosts your overall combat power and account power. Heroes can be upgraded via several ways – levelling up, promotion, equipment, and battle intent. Each of this process is time-taking but quite rewarding in terms of the takeaway.

Out of all these processes, levelling up your heroes is the easiest. You simply need to take your heroes to battle and they will gain experience. Other ways of giving experience to heroes is directly using the accumulated EXP on the levelling menu. Once you reach a certain level threshold, you will need to promote the hero to level them further. This happens with a specific set of materials obtained from adventure stages. Dungeons and adventure mode both yield you differing rarities and types of equipment. You can equip them manually or automatically on each individual hero to enhance their base stats.
The Gacha System of Realm Traveler Explained
Like we mentioned in the start, Realm Traveler is a gacha game at it’s core. Each hero in the game can be summoned via the innate gacha system, denoted by the “Summon” icon at the top right-hand side. This gacha system is home to several banners, each of whom have different mechanics. Before we explain them, let’s delve into hero rarities. Each hero comes from a certain element and is assigned a base rarity. It starts from 1-star and goes till 5-star. The higher the rarity of the hero, the stronger and rarer they are considered.

Depending on the banner, the probability of getting a specific rarity of hero changes. The Common Banner has the following probabilities:
- 1-star hero: 50% chance of being summoned
- 2-star hero: 38% chance of being summoned
- 3-star hero: 10% chance of being summoned
- 4-star hero: 1.5% chance of being summoned
- 5-star hero: 0.5% chance of being summoned

The Advanced Banner has the following probabilities:
- 3-star hero: 77% chance of being summoned
- 4-star hero: 13% chance of being summoned
- 5-star hero: 10% chance of being summoned
Players can enjoy playing Realm Traveler on a bigger screen of their PC or Laptop via BlueStacks along with your keyboard and mouse.
