In Where Winds Meet, the combat is very skill oriented and players can demonstrate their skills in all their glory. First of all, any player can hold up to 3 different weapons. These weapons all have specific martial skills which are like active abilities. On your journey, you will meet several NPCs that will teach you new martial skills directly. Of course, all of this unlocks in the exploration mode. The combat happens in a first-person perspective and is completely action-oriented. You can pull of tons of combos with a single weapon, or multiple weapons.
Players can easily switch weapons at the tap of a button from the top right-hand side of the main menu. You can also toggle the positioning of the weapons for a quick switch. The combat controls are also easy to learn and follow. You move the character with directional virtual keypad present on the left-hand side. The basic attack button is located on the right-hand side, alongside the martial skills and techniques you have equipped. The jump button, lock-on target button, and the sprint/dodge button is located on the right-hand side as well. Each of these can be used to pull off amazing combos, so make sure to practice new moves!
Questing in Where Winds Meet
The questing system of Where Winds Meet is quite elegant, yet friendly towards beginners. The quests can be seen highlighted on the mini-map with pointers guiding towards the exact direction and location. Players can toggle this feature “On” or “Off”, depending on how hard they want the questing system to be. This was something we didn’t expect, especially from a free-to-play MMO, but that’s where Where Winds Meet beats it’s competition. In Where Winds Meet, the gearing system is quite diverse. Players can equip between 3 gear types – Offensive, Defensive, and Bow. Each gear piece comes with a specific rarity, denoted by its color. Offensive and defensive gear pieces come as part of Sets. Completing a set of gear can impart you with additional stats and unique passive effects.
The main stat of all gear types remains fixed. The main changed come with the sub-stats. As a beginner, we would recommend simply equipping whatever gear gives you more combat power early on. You can go for stat and set hunting after you have increased your power to a respectable level.
