Whiteout Survival Research Center Guide and Tips

The frozen apocalyptic world of Whiteout Survival is not just a test of how much coal you can burn. It is a test of how quickly your civilization can evolve. Once your Furnace reaches level 9, you unlock the Research Center, which effectively serves as the brain of your city. For those unaware, the research center is the core upgrade center that helps you unlock permanent buffs for your account. Our Whiteout Survival research center guide is the best way to know about the system and the upgrade requirements.
What is the Research Center in Whiteout Survival?
The Research Center is accessible quite early, but its importance grows exponentially as you progress. To conduct any study, you will need a steady supply of Wood, Meat, Coal, Iron, and eventually Steel. As you climb the tech tree, the requirements for these resources, and the time needed to complete each project will increase significantly. A research project that takes ten minutes at level 5 might take over sixty days by the time you reach the endgame.

Upgrading the building itself is just as important as the research within it. Each level of the Research Center increases your base research speed and unlocks higher tiers of technology. You should aim to keep this building as close to your Furnace level as possible. If your Research Center lags behind, you will find yourself unable to access the military or economic boosts needed to compete with rival alliances.
Research Center Upgrade Trees in Whiteout Survival
The Research Center is organized into three distinct tabs, each serving a specific strategic purpose. Mastering the balance between these tabs is what separates a casual player from a top-tier governor.

The Growth Tree
The Growth tab should be your primary focus during the first few months of play. It focuses on the internal mechanics of your city’s development. It features the following advantages:
- Tool Enhancement: This is the most important research node in the entire game. It provides a percentage-based reduction in research time. By maximizing this first, you effectively speed up every other research project you will ever start.
- Tooling Up: This reduces construction time for all buildings. In a game where a single building level can take weeks to complete, a 10 or 15 percent reduction saves you countless hours and speedup items.
- Camp Expansion and Trainer Tools: These nodes allow you to train more troops in a single batch and reduce the time it takes to finish that training. This is vital for maintaining your power levels after a major war.
- Command Tactics: This increases your march capacity, allowing you to deploy more armies simultaneously for gathering, hunting, or rallying.
The Economy Tree
Without a strong economy, your research will eventually stall due to a lack of resources. This tab focuses on the output of your resource buildings and the speed at which your troops gather from the world map.
- Resource Production: These upgrades boost the passive generation of Meat, Wood, Coal, and Iron inside your city. While helpful, they are often overshadowed by gathering speed.
- Gathering Speed: This should be your priority within the Economy tab. Most of your high-volume resources will come from sending troops to nodes on the map. Increasing gathering speed ensures your marches return faster, allowing you to cycle your troops more efficiently and protect them from being attacked while stationary.

The Battle/Military Tree
The Battle tab is where you turn your citizens into a professional army. It provides specialized upgrades for Infantry, Marksmen, and Lancers. You can get the following upgrades by upgrading this tree:
- Infantry Upgrades: In the current combat meta, Infantry are your most important unit because they act as the frontline shield. Prioritizing their health and defense ensures your backline units (Marksmen and Lancers) can deal damage without being targeted.
- Marksman and Lancer Buffs: Once your Infantry are sturdy enough to hold the line, you should invest in the attack power of your Marksmen and the speed/lethality of your Lancers.
- Regimental Expansion: This increases the number of troops you can send in a single march. A larger army is almost always a more effective army, especially when participating in alliance rallies against fortresses or sunfire castles.
