Garena has officially announced the Free Fire x BTS collaboration, arriving later in March, 

The announcement took everyone by surprise when Garena teased an upcoming surprise collaboration for their wildly popular battle royale game, Free Fire. Developers dropped the hints of the major collab via a social media post that featured a septet silhouette with an uncanny resemblance to the celebrated South Korean boy band Bangatan Boys, also known as BTS. 

The surprise post was followed by an official announcement from Garena’s side, which confirmed that Free Fire‘s next global collaboration is going to happen with the widely-known pop icons. The news of the upcoming collab has been very well received by the majority of Free Fire fans on social media, especially the ones from the BTS army.

Release date

The developers have only confirmed the collaboration, and no official launch date has been announced for the collaborative events. According to Garena, the event may go live later in March. And the Free Fire OB33 update is due to launch in March, therefore the collaboration is expected to see in the upcoming update.

Here’s what developers said via Free Fire’s European Instagram handle: 

“We are happy to announce our global collaboration with 21st-century pop icons, BTS! The collaboration will see one of the world’s most-streamed artists worldwide enter the world of Free Fire for a never-before-seen event later in March.” 

What to expect from Free Fire ✕ BTS collaboration?

The motive behind the partnership events that users witness in Free Fire is related to the promotions of specific brands or the game itself. Through the upcoming BTS collab, Free Fire will look to benefit by banking on the massive fanbase of the South Korean boy band. Players will see special edition rewards via a series of events. These exclusive prizes and other in-game content will be based on the BTS septet. 

In the past, players have welcomed several characters in Free Fire based on real-life global celebrities, including Cristiano Ronaldo, KSHMR, DJ Alok, DVLM, Hrithik Roshan, and many more. In addition to the characters, developers also introduced outfits, emotes, and many other in-game skins during these collabs.

Apart from the BTS collab, Garena is launching another collaboration this month with Ubisoft’s renowned action RPG video game series Assassin’s Creed, expected to go live around March 12.
