Azur Lane May 2025 Update Guide: A Rose on the High Tower

Azur Lane’s latest patch is live, and it’s bringing some serious action with the Royal Navy leading the charge. Running from May 20 to June 11, this update isn’t just about new ships—it’s packed with events, quality-of-life improvements, and exclusive rewards. Whether you’re chasing new shipgirls or just here for the seasonal skins, there’s plenty to get excited about.
“A Rose on the High Tower” stands as the centerpiece, but it’s far from the only highlight. Alongside the main event, returning seasonal content, an all-new Commander Handbook, and UI enhancements bring fresh incentives for daily play. Here’s what you need to know to get the most out of this patch.
New Shipgirls Join the Fleet
The Royal Navy gets the spotlight this time, with six new additions to the fleet. Lion takes center stage as the headliner UR and is available in the event construction pool with a 1.2% rate. There’s also a pity mechanic—after 200 event constructions, you’ll get another Lion, up to four times total. This makes her much more accessible, even for players with less luck.
Trafalgar is another UR but earned differently. You’ll need to farm event stages and complete missions to collect “Winged Lion’s Crest UR Vouchers,” which can be traded in for Trafalgar in the event shop. She can be exchanged twice during the event. Glorious META is also featured, and while not a UR, she’s still a strong pickup and is obtainable via construction, drops, and shop exchanges.
Cleopatra and Gallant round out the construction pool with boosted rates, while Trinidad is the milestone reward for PT accumulation. Every ship has its own value, and together, they round out a solid Royal Navy lineup for the season.
A Rose on the High Tower Event
This new limited-time event revolves around collecting PT through special stages and missions. You’ll farm various nodes to earn enough currency to trade in for Trafalgar, Glorious META, and even a powerful new UR gear, the Triple 406mm Mk.II Main Gun Mount. As you progress, you’ll also unlock milestone rewards, including the limited character Trinidad.
There’s more to it than just grinding stages. The event includes challenge missions, the Shipgirl Game minigame, and daily objectives, which help fill out your PT bar quickly. Each element feeds into your overall progress, making it easy to engage with multiple parts of the event and still feel rewarded.
The commemorative album for the event also adds some extra flair. Complete tasks to gather stickers, then exchange them for limited items like the “Miniature Rose Tower” and the event-specific medal. It’s cosmetic, sure, but perfect for collectors.
Villa Reconstruction Returns
Parallel to the main event is a returning summer-themed activity: Midsummer Returns! The Villa Reconstruction. It’s not just a nostalgic rerun—it packs new layers of content. You’ll rebuild the resort through daily interactions, unlock decorations, and participate in small games like the Manjuu Salvaging Crew, which rolls out over a week.
The Shipgirl Game makes a comeback with a simple premise—combine shipgirls to get as big as you can over seven days. If you stick with it daily, you’ll score the Early Summer Invitation 2025, which lets you choose one SR ship from a solid list including Formidable, Taihou, and U-81. There’s also the Vacay Thermae feature, a minor but fun way to boost shipgirl mood recovery, especially useful for morale-sensitive grinding.
And just like the main event, this side event has its own album rewards. Complete commemorative missions to exchange for event-exclusive items, perfect for those who love maxing out every collectible.
Skins, Rentals, and Seasonal Style
No Azur Lane update feels complete without a fresh lineup of skins. This patch adds some real visual flair with new outfits for Lion, Trafalgar, and Cleopatra among others. Many come with L2D or dynamic animations, adding more personality to each shipgirl.
Trafalgar’s “Sea Breeze, Moonlit Talks” is a standout L2D skin, while Gallant’s delivery-themed outfit leans into charm and expressiveness. Shimanto, Taihou, and Trinidad also get new designs, alongside reruns of summer favorites like Alsace’s Heat-Beating Summer Sacrament.
If you’re not looking to spend heavily, there’s also the rental outfit system. Just logging in gets you three vouchers to test out skins like Lion’s L2D or Taihou’s playful table game-themed look.
The Shop also includes the Swimsuit Lucky Bags for both this year and last year, new UI packs themed around summer, and furniture sets under the Seaside Splash collection. These are limited-time, so make sure to check them out before the event ends.
Commander Tools and System Fixes
Beyond cosmetics and events, this update significantly improves the user experience. The new Commander Handbook is a big deal for newer players. It walks you through rookie and development missions while rewarding Wisdom Cubes and a Rookie Mission Invitation. This can be redeemed for either Shinano or New Jersey—two top-tier UR shipgirls.
Story fans can now track plotlines more clearly with the Story Flowmap added to Memories. Meanwhile, the BGM settings get an album section, giving you better control over your game’s audio vibe. There’s also a major time-saver for completionists: threat levels in campaign Chapters 1 to 9 now only need one clear to hit 100%.
Other quality-of-life improvements include:
- Batch usage for gear boxes
- Custom name search in the dock
- More META development materials in campaign levels
- Expanded dock and cattery limits (up to 4000 and 400 respectively)
Even small annoyances like blurry Live2D assets and broken camera features in Private Quarters have been addressed. It’s a great round of fixes that should benefit nearly everyone.
Other Bonuses and Limited-Time Offers
Wishing Well makes a return, letting you choose two older ships for rate-ups. It’s a smart way to catch up on characters you might have missed. And for daily players, the login campaign throws in bonus rewards just for checking in.
PT exchange shop timelines are clearly marked—Trafalgar and Glorious META are available until June 18, while the rest of the event wraps up on June 11. Skins and gear skins are also tied to this window, so time your purchases and exchanges accordingly.
Lastly, players under level 80 will enjoy double commander and ship EXP from sorties through June 25. It’s the perfect chance to power-level your newer additions or backfill any neglected shipgirls.
Maintenance Compensation and Final Notes
As always, maintenance came with compensation. If your account was created before May 20, 2025, you’ll receive 2,500 Coins and 3,000 Oil in your mailbox. It’s not a game-changer, but it’s a nice bonus for those who had to wait during downtime.
Before the next patch, make sure to spend your PT, finish your albums, and grab those time-limited skins and items. After June 11, most of this content will disappear until the next rerun, if it ever returns.
And remember—whether you’re collecting shipgirls or just enjoying the summer-themed chaos, Azur Lane plays even better on PC with BlueStacks. The improved performance and controls make sortieing smoother and events easier to grind. Give it a try if you haven’t already.
