A few days ago we covered a preview of the 3.8 update for PUBG Mobile. However, version 3.8 is here, and it’s one of the most ambitious updates yet. Running from May 8 to July 6, this patch blends a unique anime crossover with fresh game mechanics and action that completely shake up how you play. Whether you’re flying through the air on ODM gear or trading with a steam-powered vendor, this update brings something new to every corner of the game.

The highlight is the official Attack on Titan collaboration, featuring the ability to transform into a Titan and move with iconic ODM mobility. On top of that, a brand-new mode—Steampunk Frontier—adds themed zones, trains, and a unique loot system. And for those looking beyond the battlefield, there are upgrades to Classic mode, Arena, Metro Royale, and even the Home system.

Attack on Titan Collaboration

The Attack on Titan crossover introduces limited-time items and mechanics that completely change how players move and fight. Available exclusively in the new Steampunk Frontier mode, these features let you take on a more dynamic combat style.

  • Titan Serum: Use this to transform into a Titan, gaining high health and powerful melee attacks.
  • Attack Titan Serum: A stronger version of the Titan Serum that turns you into the iconic Attack Titan with enhanced combat abilities.
  • ODM Gear: This gear lets you grapple around buildings and enemies, retract using gas-powered cables, and attack mid-air using built-in blades.

These additions are fast-paced and visually striking, creating more intense encounters with a distinct anime-inspired twist.

Steampunk Frontier Mode

Steampunk Frontier mode isn’t just a new look—it introduces brand-new areas, loot systems, and gameplay options on Erangel, Livik, and Rondo maps. This limited-time mode blends stylized environments with strategic movement tools like gliders and trains.

  • Aetherholm: A large station where players can summon trains and access hidden rooms via elevators.
  • Cargo Hub: A linked urban zone with rail lines for fast movement between sections.
  • Utgard Castle: A Titan-themed stronghold that can be destroyed during gameplay.
  • Hot Air Balloons: Float above the map for scouting or gliding across the area.
  • Rollercoaster Checkpoint: Ride and take snapshots with your squad.

Other features include the Steam Glider, which replaces parachutes when jumping from height, and Steam Coins, a currency you earn by riding trains and use to shop with Clockwork Merchants and Attendants. It’s all tied together with moving trains like the Epoch Cargo Train and Express Train, which carry loot crates and even their own shops.

Classic Mode Updates

Classic Mode isn’t left out either. Version 3.8 introduces new weapons, healing tools, and even changes how you interact with vehicles mid-battle.

  • Sticky Bomb: A throwable that attaches to surfaces or vehicles before exploding after a short delay.
  • Portable Med Pack: Heals teammates faster and more efficiently using standard medical items.
  • Spare Tire: Fix busted tires on vehicles instantly to stay mobile.
  • Heavy Stock: New gun attachment that lowers recoil but slows your aiming.
  • Pillar UAZ: A tough, new vehicle only found in Rondo with added armor but no in-vehicle shooting.
  • Driver’s Seat Firing: You can now fire one-handed weapons while driving motorcycles, scooters, and bikes.

These tweaks make a big difference in solo and squad tactics, especially when it comes to fast rotations and clutch revives.

Arena and World of Wonder Tweaks

Arena mode adds a quick, fun new feature—1v1 matches. Invite a teammate from the Lobby and battle it out on the Warehouse map. These fights are fast and skill-focused, with the first player to five eliminations claiming victory.

World of Wonder continues to grow, with new modes like Elimination Skillfest, which gives you buffs after kill streaks, and Battle Blitz, a base-occupying team challenge. On top of that, there are new map assets and enemies, including:

  • Velociraptors and Jurassic decorations
  • Trains and steampunk buildings
  • New weapons like the Welding Gun, M3E1-A Launcher
  • New vehicles like the T. Rex

Creators also get advanced visual programming tools, custom cover uploads, and a revamped rating system to make content discovery smoother. The creation and matchmaking system has been polished to support both popular and underplayed maps better.

Metro Royale and Home System Got Expanded

Metro Royale gets smarter with update 3.8, adding gear restrictions that stop Lv. 4 or higher equipment from being brought into the more basic maps. This helps newer players avoid being outclassed from the start. There’s also a new Worn-Out Train area in Misty Port and Arctic Base, packed with themed loot like Mechanical Treasure crates that require solving a puzzle and destructible Wooden Crates that might reveal extra rewards. Players can also trade Clockwork Tokens with the Clockwork Merchant for high-value items, but you’ll get nothing if the merchant breaks during your exchange. Add to that the new Portable Military Server, which lets you hack and collect intel during matches, and you’ve got more to do than ever.

Meanwhile, the Home system gets a full steampunk makeover. The new Bronzework Bastion style adds themed items you can earn by leveling up your Home or grabbing them from the Home Shop. If you hit 200 Prosperity or more, you can register for the Home Competition and compete in ten community-voted rounds. Players can send Home gifts to sway votes and level up their Face-Off rankings for better rewards. It’s a refreshing way to get creative and score exclusive items without stepping into combat.

Season Content and Time-Limited Rewards

Cycle 8 Season 24 is packed with new cosmetics, season events, and rating protections that reward both casual and competitive players. Running from May 11 to July 11, the season includes:

  • Legendary items like the C8S24 Set, Mask, Cover, SKS skin, and more.
  • Ultimate Royale mode now includes Sanhok with new point bonuses and protection features.
  • A 3-day login bonus for updating before May 14 (3,000 BP, 100 AG, and a themed outfit).

You’ll also find new missions in both Classic and Casual seasons, plus limited-time protection events to help you stay ranked even after a rough match or two.

PUBG Mobile’s 3.8 update is one of the richest to date, combining action, creativity, and competition in every corner of the game. These are just some of the standout changes and additions, and we suggest taking a look at the official patch notes for more details.
