- Designed for AirStation: Works with Buffalo AirStation models that include a QR code. If your unit doesn’t have one, this method won’t apply.
- Camera requirements: Needs a rear camera with autofocus for reliable scanning. On Android 6.0 and up, be sure to grant camera and location permissions so the OS allows scanning. The app doesn’t collect location or camera data.
- Uses factory defaults: The QR code stores your router’s original security settings. If you’ve changed the SSID, password, or other security options, the code won’t match and the app can’t connect until the router’s settings or QR info are updated.
- Handy troubleshooting: Not connecting? Try these quick fixes:
- Restart your phone or tablet.
- Stand closer to the AirStation.
- Check the router’s mode switch (Auto or Router).
- Change the wireless channel.
- If your setup card shows two QR codes, try the other one.
- As a last resort, initialize the AirStation to defaults (this wipes settings).
- Channel tips for compatibility:
- 2.4 GHz: Some devices don’t support channels 12–13. If that’s you, use channels 1–11.
- 5 GHz: Stick to channels 36–48 if your device doesn’t play nicely with 52–140.
