A soon-to-be-available game, Harry Potter: Magic Awakened has been making quite the waves among the card-battler RPG community. Combining the popular collector RPG mechanics observed in the genre with a modern touch given to Harry Potter’s magic-filled universe, Netease is excited to bring the game globally. Currently, it is available only in the Asian markets and it has proved to be quite successful there. The game features the face of the franchise – Harry Potter as the main protagonist. Players can also see the likes of Hermoine Granger, Ron Weasley, Draco Malfoy, and more as collectible Companions in the game. Owing to the popularity of the IP (Intellectual Property) of Harry Potter, it’s expected that Harry Potter: Magic Awakened will prove to be one of the most successful card-based RPGs. In fact, it has already secured over 2 million pre-registrations as mentioned on the game’s official website. Harry Potter: Magic Awakened will be released as a free-to-play game on both the Google Play Store and iOS App Store.

In this article, we will be listing all of the available playable characters in the game that any player can acquire and use in combat. These characters are called “Companions” in the official in-game terminology. These Companions are mandatory to use as they will be the ones that will be casting spells and using summons to call out creatures in battles. Different Companions also have different strategies that could be used with them according to their play style. Each Companion in the game has a specialty attached to it. This can also be considered as their abilities. Keep in mind that the information available is still limited only to the closed beta test conducted by Netease for EU and NA. The abilities are subject to change after the game is released globally. 

List of Companions and their Abilities

These are the Companions that are expected to be included at the time of the global launch of Harry Potter: Magic Awakened.

Brothers Frey

Brothers Frey is an Epic rarity Companion in Harry Potter: Magic Awakened. He can attack targets that are both on the Ground as well as Air. They have an Attack Speed of 1.7 seconds. With a base Health of 414 and Damage of 63, Brothers Frey is not that good of a Companion. Their DPS rating is 37.1, one of the lowest in the game. Their Attack Range is 50. With a movement speed rating of Average, Brother’s Frey has their stats maximum at 15 at the maximum level.

Ability – Simultaneously summon Fisher and Colby to attack the enemy from a long distance.

Cassandra Vole

Cassandra Vole is an Epic rarity Companion in Harry Potter: Magic Awakened. She can attack targets that are both on the Ground as well as Air. She has an Attack Speed of 0.8 seconds. With a base Health of 774 and Damage of 129, Cassandra Vole is a great Companion. Her DPS rating is 111.8, one of the highest in the game. Her Attack Range is 50. With a movement speed rating of Immobile, Cassandra Vole has her stats maximum at 15 at the maximum level.

Ability – Summon Cassandra, when summoned Cassandra will create a thunderstorm around her. That storm will randomly attack an enemy unit within range, knocking it back and doing damage.

Daniel Page

Daniel Page is a Rare rarity Companion in Harry Potter: Magic Awakened. He can attack targets that are both on the Ground as well as Air. He has an Attack Speed of 0.8 seconds. With a base Health of 566 and Damage of 89, Daniel Page is a great Companion. His DPS rating is 79, which is pretty average compared to the rest of the Companions in the game. His Attack Range is 50. With a movement speed rating of Average, Daniel Page has his stats maximum at 15 at maximum level.

Ability – Summon Daniel. When Daniel enters the field, he will heal all friendly units within the range, and then consume his life to heal friendly units.

Draco Malfoy

Draco Malfoy is a Legendary rarity Companion in Harry Potter: Magic Awakened. He can attack targets that are both on the Ground as well as Air. He has an Attack Speed of 1.9 seconds. With a base Health of 587 and Damage of 77, Draco Malfoy is a great Companion. His DPS rating is 90, which is pretty average compared to the rest of the Companions in the game. His Attack Range is 50. With a movement speed rating of Average, Draco Malfoy has his stats maximum at 15 at the maximum level.

Ability – Summon Draco Malfoy, Gregory Goyle, and Vincent Crabbe. When you stun, freeze, or restrain the enemy, Malfoy will mark the unit, and the trio will attack it together, having increased attack and movement speed. 

After any one of the three is defeated, the other two will flee and exit the battlefield.

Grawp

Grawp is an Epic rarity Companion in Harry Potter: Magic Awakened. He can attack targets that are only on the Ground. He has an Attack Speed of 8 seconds. With a base Health of 1238 and Damage of 231, Grawp is a great Companion. His DPS rating is 28.9, which is very low compared to the rest of the Companions in the game. His Attack Range is 30. With a movement speed rating of Average, Grawp has his stats maximum at 15 at the maximum level.

Ability – Summon Grawp, and Grawp will charge a random enemy unit on the field, causing a lot of damage. Immune to control effects during the charge. After crashing into an enemy unit, Grawp will fall to the ground. After a while, Grawp will get up and charge the enemy unit again.

Rubeus Hagrid

Rubeus Hagrid is an Epic rarity Companion in Harry Potter: Magic Awakened. He can attack targets that are only on the Ground. He has an Attack Speed of 3 seconds. With a base Health of 566 and Damage of 103, Rubeus Hagrid is a great Companion. His DPS rating is 39, which is very low compared to the rest of the Companions in the game. His Attack Range is 50. With a movement speed rating of Average, Rubeus Hagrid has his stats maximum at 15 at maximum level.

Ability – You ride on its motorbike sidecar, get five additional movement cards, gain movement speed and smash into enemy units along the way causing damage. Hagrid’s motorcycle will take damage in your place, but cannot receive benefits such as healing and shielding.

Harry Potter

Harry Potter is a Legendary rarity Companion in Harry Potter: Magic Awakened. He can attack targets that are both on the Ground as well as the Air. He has an Attack Speed of 0.5 seconds. With a base Health of 1546 and Damage of 99, Harry Potter is a great Companion. His DPS rating is 90, which is high compared to the rest of the Companions in the game. His Attack Range is 40 in a round circular area. With a movement speed rating of Immobile, Harry Potter has his stats maximum at 15 at maximum level.

Ability – Summon Harry. He will create a protection bubble around him that repel any enemy within range. When he knocks back enemy units, he will consume his own health. Every 5 seconds, Harry will remove the control effects from all friendly units in the area.

Hermione Granger

Hermione Granger is a Legendary rarity Companion in Harry Potter: Magic Awakened. She can attack targets that are both on the Ground as well as Air. She has an Attack Speed of 2 seconds. With a base Health of 579 and Damage of 48, Hermione Granger is a great Companion. Her DPS rating is 24, one of the lowest in the game. Her Attack Range is 30. With a movement speed rating of Slow, Hermione Granger has her stats maximum at 13 at the maximum level.

Ability – Summon Hermione. Whenever you use a spell card, Hermione will also use it, and the level of the spell card is the same as Hermione’s own level. This effect has a cooldown of 10 seconds. Hermione will not cast the following spells: Prior Incantato.

Ivy Warrington

Ivy Warrington is an Epic rarity Companion in Harry Potter: Magic Awakened. She can attack targets that are both on the Ground as well as Air. She has an Attack Speed of 1.5 seconds. With a base Health of 655 and Damage of 51, Ivy Warrington is a great Companion. Her DPS rating is 34, one of the lowest in the game. Her Attack Range is 50. With a movement speed rating of Fast, Ivy Warrington has her stats maximum at 15 at the maximum level.

Ability – Summon Ivy. Ivy immediately casts a Vanishing Curse on the target and makes it disappears.  The Vanishing Curse cannot destroy wizard units and some boss monsters, instead, it will only cause a certain amount of damage.

Kevin Farrell

Kevin Farrell is a Rare rarity Companion in Harry Potter: Magic Awakened. He can attack targets that are both on the Ground as well as the Air. He has an Attack Speed of 1.3 seconds. With a base Health of 876 and Damage of 67, Kevin Farrell is a great Companion. His DPS rating is 67, which is high compared to the rest of the Companions in the game. His Attack Range is 50. With a movement speed rating of Immobile, Kevin Farrell has his stats maximum at 9 at maximum level.

Ability – Summon Kevin, and Kevin will record your normal attacks. When your number of attacks reaches 24 or after Kevin is defeated, Kevin will provide you with a blessing based on your number of attacks, which will increase your attack damage.

Lottie Turner

Lottie Turner is an Epic rarity Companion in Harry Potter: Magic Awakened. She can attack targets that are both on the Ground as well as Air. She has an Attack Speed of 3 seconds. With a base Health of 516 and Damage of 151, Lottie Turner is a great Companion. Her DPS rating is 88, one of the highest in the game. Her Attack Range is 50. With a movement speed rating of Immobile, Lottie Turner has her stats maximum at 15 at maximum level.

Ability – Summon Lottie, and Lottie will immediately restore 1 point of mana to you when she enters the game. Lottie then consumes her own health to restore 1 point of mana to you every 5 seconds.

Minerva McGonagall

Minerva McGonagall is a Legendary rarity Companion in Harry Potter: Magic Awakened. She can attack targets that are both on the Ground as well as Air. She has an Attack Speed of 3 seconds. With a base Health of 619 and Damage of 41, Minerva McGonagall is a great Companion. Her DPS rating is 64, which is pretty average compared to the rest of the Companions. Her Attack Range is 50. With a movement speed rating of Slow, Minerva McGonagall has her stats maximum at 15 at the maximum level.

Ability – Summon Professor McGonagall to cast a transfiguration spell on all enemy units.

Non-wizard units are turned into critters, unable to move, and the damage they receive increases. After receiving the damage, the transfiguration is released. Wizards will be slowed, take increased damage, and the effect will be canceled after taking damage. After every card is used, Professor McGonagall will cast polymorphism on a random enemy unit. After casting polymorphism 8 times, Professor McGonagall summons a stone armor.

Robin Thistlethwaite

Robin Thistlethwaite is a Rare rarity Companion in Harry Potter: Magic Awakened. She can attack targets that are both on the Ground as well as Air. She has an Attack Speed of 1.8 seconds. With a base Health of 258 and Damage of 45, Robin Thistlethwaite is a great Companion. Her DPS rating is 13.5, which is single-handedly the lowest out of all the other Companions. Her Attack Range is 50. With a movement speed rating of Average, Robin Thistlethwaite has her stats maximum at 8 at the maximum level.

Ability – Summon Robyn, Robyn immediately hits a bludger to the designated location to cause area damage, and then will continue to hit bludgers to cause area damage.

Ron Weasley

Ron Weasley is a Legendary rarity Companion in Harry Potter: Magic Awakened. He can attack targets that are both on the Ground as well as the Air. He has an Attack Speed of 2 seconds. With a base Health of 496 and Damage of 77, Ron Weasley is a great Companion. His DPS rating is 88, which is high compared to the rest of the Companions in the game. His Attack Range is 60. With a movement speed rating of Very Fast, Ron Weasley has his stats maximum at 10 at the maximum level.

Ability – Summon Ron, Ron charge multiple times, gathering up to 20 enemy units into his chessboard and transforming them into a pawn, causing them damage. The damage is attenuated by 10% each time, up to 60%. After this, Ron rushes to the enemy wizard, causing area stun and damage. While Ron is alive, for every 6 enemy units defeated, Ron will summon a chess King piece.
