Using the Learning Lab

The Learn tab takes you to the Learning Lab, which is Pokémon TCG Live’s built-in area for practicing and understanding the Pokémon Trading Card Game.

Lessons are divided according to their purpose and difficulty. Basic Lessons introduce the fundamentals, while Standard Lessons cover additional mechanics you’ll encounter as you progress. More advanced lessons can focus on strategies involving specific decks.

This is an important distinction when learning how to use Pokémon TCG Live: you don’t need to understand the complete card game before exploring the app. The Learning Lab gives you a dedicated place to work through its mechanics at your own pace before competing against other players.

How to Play Ranked and Casual Matches

The Ranked and Casual tabs are the main destinations when you’re ready to play against other Pokémon TCG Live users.

Ranked places your matches within the game’s competitive ladder. Your current rank and ladder progress are displayed on the Ranked screen, along with access to its associated rewards. Press Play when you’re ready to search for an opponent.

Casual is better suited to matches where you don’t want to worry about your Ranked progression. From the Casual screen, you can select between the available formats. These include Standard, Expanded, and Trainer Trials in the current interface. Choose the format you want and press Play to begin matchmaking.

Before jumping in, make sure the deck selected on the main screen is valid for the format you’re trying to play.

Building and Managing Decks in Pokémon TCG Live

Select Decks from the main screen to access Pokémon TCG Live’s Deck Manager. This area displays your available decks and provides a Create a Deck option when you want to start a new one.

Selecting an existing deck brings up information about it and provides the Edit Deck option. Inside the editor, the deck is divided into Pokémon, Trainers, and Energy, with the total number of cards displayed alongside these categories. A complete deck contains 60 cards.

The Card Library occupies much of the deck-building screen and lets you browse the cards available for your build. Use Filters when you need to narrow the selection and Sorting to reorganize the cards being displayed.

Pay attention to the validity indicators as well. Pokémon TCG Live marks decks that aren’t currently valid, making it easier to spot when a deck needs changes before it can be used in a particular format.

Viewing Your Card Collection

The Card Dex is where you can browse the cards associated with the different Pokémon TCG expansions available in the app.

Choose an expansion to see its cards and your progress toward completing its collection. Cards are presented in a grid, with collection information helping you determine which ones you own and which ones you’re still missing.

The collection interface also provides sorting options when you want to reorganize the cards on display. Master Set View offers another way to examine your progress through a particular set.

This makes Card Dex useful even when you’re not actively building a deck. If you simply want to check your collection or see what you’re missing from an expansion, this is the place to go.

Using the Pokémon TCG Live Shop

Open Shop from the main screen to access the store. Its interface is separated into Bundles, Expansions, and Redeem, making it fairly easy to find the type of content you’re looking for.

Bundles contains packaged selections of items, while Expansions provides access to content associated with Pokémon TCG sets. Your available currencies are shown at the top of the interface so you can check your balance before making a selection.

Because the available products and featured expansions can change over time, it’s worth checking the Shop periodically instead of relying on a specific selection always being available.

How to Redeem Codes in Pokémon TCG Live

Pokémon TCG products can include codes that provide items in Pokémon TCG Live. These can be redeemed directly through the app.

Open Shop and select the Redeem tab. From here, you can manually type your code into the Enter Your Code field and select Submit Code. The interface also includes a camera option for scanning compatible 2D codes instead of typing them manually.

Successfully redeemed items appear in the Rewards area. When rewards are waiting, you can use Collect All to claim them.

This makes the Redeem menu especially useful if you also collect physical Pokémon TCG products, since you can use their included codes to obtain corresponding digital rewards.

Battle Pass, Daily Quests, and Rewards

The Collect section is where you’ll find the current Battle Pass and its progression track. Advancing through the pass unlocks rewards at different levels, with the interface showing both your current progress and how long remains in the active pass.

Daily Quests also appear here. These provide specific objectives, such as evolving a Pokémon or playing certain types of cards, along with the rewards for completing them.

Check this section regularly when playing Pokémon TCG Live. Even if your main goal is simply playing matches, completing Daily Quests alongside your normal games gives you another source of progression and rewards.

Using Your Profile and Friends List

Select Profile from the main interface to see your player information. This screen displays your current level and avatar, with options for Customize and Stats.

Customize lets you change the appearance of your in-game avatar, while Stats provides information about your activity. The Friends tab at the top of this area handles the social side of the app and provides access to your friends.

You don’t need to spend much time here when you’re starting out, but it’s useful to know where these options are when you want to personalize your account or connect with other players.

Getting Comfortable with Pokémon TCG Live

Pokémon TCG Live becomes much easier to navigate once you understand how its main sections fit together. Learn handles tutorials, Ranked and Casual are where you’ll find matches, Decks handles deck creation and editing, and Card Dex lets you browse your collection. Meanwhile, Collect contains progression and Daily Quests, while Shop handles bundles, expansions, and code redemption.

You don’t have to master every menu before playing. Start with the Learning Lab if you’re unfamiliar with the Pokémon Trading Card Game, try the decks available to you, and explore the Deck Manager once you’re ready to make changes of your own.
