What is the Chimera Clan Boss?

The Chimera is a time-limited Clan Boss fight that consists of 13 fixed phases, spanning a total of 65 turns. Instead of reacting to your damage output like traditional Clan Bosses, Chimera follows a set rotation of forms: Ultimate, Ram, Lion, and Viper. Each form has its own unique mechanics, such as isolating a champion for a 1v1 duel (Ram), unleashing heavy AoE nukes (Lion), or applying and detonating poison stacks (Viper). Every few turns, Chimera returns to its Ultimate form to reset buffs and prepare for the next transformation.

Unlike traditional bosses that reward burst damage and cooldown cycling, Chimera emphasizes timing, synergy, and control. Knowing which form is coming next and preparing your team accordingly is critical. Each form demands a different reaction—cleanse, shield, burst, revive—and failing to rotate your skills effectively can mean a wiped team even with top-tier champions.

This guide will walk you through each of the Chimera’s forms, then break down champion recommendations, gear sets, masteries, turn management, and trial objectives to ensure you’re ready for this intricate and rewarding encounter.

Chimera Forms and Turn Rotation

Total Duration: 65 turns

 Form Pattern:

  • Turn 1–5: Ultimate → Ram
  • Turn 6–10: Ultimate → Lion
  • Turn 11–15: Ultimate → Viper
  • Pattern repeats through turn 65

Ultimate Form

Resets cooldowns and purges buffs from your team. Minimal offensive threat but prepares Chimera for its next form. Do not waste damage cooldowns here. Use utility and pre-buffing skills with long durations.

Ram Form

Randomly selects a champion to Duel. That champion becomes the sole target and takes amplified damage. No ally protection applies. Use a self-sustaining tank, or pre-cast Perfect Veil/Revive on Death.

Lion Form

Launches high-damage AoE attacks and strips buffs. Best handled with Increase DEF, Shield, and Block Debuffs. Time your buffs and defensive cooldowns so they’re active before this form hits.

Viper Form

Applies poison stacks to all allies and detonates them. The most dangerous form without a cleanser. Run multiple cleansing abilities or immunity buffs. Decrease ACC is also key to mitigating incoming poisons.

Gear Sets and Stat Targets

For DPS

  • Relentless: Best for extended turns and extra Warmaster procs.
  • Cruel/Lethal: Excellent for Lion Form when enemy defense is high.
  • Stat Targets: 100% Crit Rate, 200–250% Crit Damage, 200+ Accuracy, 180+ Speed

For Healers and Support

  • Perception: Accuracy + Speed is perfect for landing debuffs and staying active.
  • Immunity/Untouchable: For poison-heavy Viper Form encounters.
  • Stat Targets: 250+ Accuracy, 250+ Speed, 50k+ HP or 4k+ DEF (depending on scaling)

For Tanks

  • Stone Skin: For duel survival in Ram Form.
  • Regeneration + Immortal: Sustain champions when isolated.
  • Stat Targets: 5k+ DEF, 60k+ HP, 400+ Resist (optional vs. Viper Form)

Turn Management and Skill Rotation

  • Always plan buffs after Ultimate Form. Buffs cast before will be purged.
  • Save key cooldowns for the correct phase. For example, cleanse just before Viper Form.
  • Use turn meter boosts before Lion Form to get ahead and cast Increase DEF or Revive on Death.
  • Pre-cast Ally Protection to survive AoEs, but don’t use it during Ram Form—it won’t apply to the Duelling champion.

Trial Objectives

These in-battle tasks unlock relics and bonuses. Examples include:

  • Place 6 unique debuffs while under Increase Accuracy
  • Deal X damage with Counterattacks or Ally Attacks
  • Complete 3 turns without taking damage during Lion Form
  • Survive a duel without losing the targeted champion

Each trial grants a performance boost or relic reward. Try to build your comp with 2–3 of them in mind for every run.

The Chimera Clan Boss in RAID: Shadow Legends is the most mechanically rich PvE challenge currently available. Unlike traditional bosses that test your damage ceiling, Chimera tests your strategic depth. It requires tight control over buffs and cooldowns, proactive planning around its form rotation, and a flexible team that can survive every phase. Simply stacking power isn’t enough—you need a team that understands when to cleanse, when to tank, and when to burst. Every form presents a new puzzle, and the most consistent players are those who treat this fight not as a raid boss, but as a chess match. With the right champions, proper gear, and well-executed timing, you can master Chimera’s patterns and claim the rewards that only top-tier teams can reach.
