Adding to their list of webtoon-based games, Ngelgames’s latest offering Tower of God: The Great Journey is a new 2D RPG game that is set in the fictional world of Tower of God. The anime/manhwa IP of Tower of God is extremely popular, grossing over 6 billion views for the worldwide webcomic available in different languages. The anime for Tower of God was also touted to be successful and is in the talks for a 2nd season renewal. Tower of God: The Great Journey follows the story of the main protagonist of the series – Twenty-Fifth Baam as he ventures into the Tower that is stated to grant any wish true. However, only one condition, is that the person should climb all the floors of the tower. On every 10th floor of the tower sits a Tower Guardian that is extremely powerful. Baam ventures into the tower to find his childhood friend Rachel who betrayed him and went inside the tower alone to fulfill her desires. Tower of God: The Great Journey harbors idle/AFK elements as well, accommodating to the needs of casual players who do not like to grind much. At the core of the game, Tower of God: The Great Journey is a hero-collector that allows players to summon their favorite characters through the in-game summoning system which makes use of the gachapon mechanics. Players can summon both weapons as well as characters which might be a disappointment for players who only like collecting characters. The mixed gacha system has a higher probability of summoning lower rarity weapons/characters while the higher rarity weapons/characters have a lower chance of being summoned. Albelda – Legendary Character

Albelda is a Legendary rarity hero that is classified as a Support type in-game. Albelda is one of the best healers in the game with her ability to provide continuous heals for all allies. She is also one of the best buffer units in the game that can increase the Attack Power of all allies. Her basic ability states – “If HP is at 90% or more, give a shield [10% (20%) of attack power] to all allies and if HP is below 90%, recover [100% (200%) of attack power] allies health”. Her 2nd ability states – “Accelerate [10% (30%)] the cooldown of all the allies for 4 seconds”. Upon being transcended, this skill also provides debuff immunity to all allies for 4 seconds. Her passive ability increases the life recovery of all allies by 35% each, making her heal even stronger. The Transcended skill of Albelda with her weapon states the following – “Increases normal attack power for 7 seconds, If HP is 90% or more, give a shield [150% of attack power] to all allies, If HP is below 90%, recover [15% of attack power] and when you cast the TR, you grant resurrection status to the ally with the lowest health and if he dies in the next 15 seconds, he resurrects with 100% health”.

Evan Edrok – Legendary Character

Evan Edrok is a Legendary rarity hero that is classified as a Support type in-game. Evan Edrok might be the 2nd best supportive character in the game after Albelda. His abilities provide a direct percentage of healing while also providing defense buffs that can be significant for the survival of all allies. His 1st skill states the following – “Recover [20% (40%)] allies’ health”. The recovery amount increases directly upon being transcended. Evan Edrok’s passive skill is the same as Albelda’s, increasing the life recovery amount of all allies by 35% each. His 2nd skill states the following – “Reduces [20% (61%)] damage taken for the ally with the lowest health for 8 seconds”. After being transcended, this skill also provides 20% recovery effects for all allies for 4 seconds. Evan Edrok’s TR skill states the following – “Increases normal attack power for 7 seconds, Deals [60% Magic dmg] to enemies within range 5 times, and recovers [3%] of total hp 5 times to allies within range.”

Urek Mazino – Legendary Character

Urek Mazino is a Legendary rarity hero that is classified as a Tank type in-game. Urek Mazino is touted as one of the top 5 rankers in the Tower of God franchise. His reputation as one of the best characters stands true in the game as well. His 1st skill states the following – “Increases [200 (400)] defense for 5 seconds.” After being transcended, this skill provides an additional defense boost to Urek Mazino. His 2nd skill states the following – “Deals [75% (262.5%) Physical dmg] to target, taunt the target for 3 seconds and additional dmg to shields.” Being a tank that can boost his own defense, Urek Mazino’s ability to taunt enemies makes him one of the best tankers in the game. Ha Jinsung – Legendary Character

Ha Jinsung is a Legendary rarity hero that is classified as a Tank type in-game. Despite being a great tank, Ha Jinsung can also deal some decent damage by himself. His 1st skill states the following – “Deals [80% (280%) Physical dmg] and recovers [5% (15%)] of his own health”. After being transcended, this skill also provides a 15% damage reduction from enemies’ incoming damage. He can sustain himself quite well due to this skill. His 2nd skill states the following – “Deals [50% (175%) Physical dmg] 2 times, taunt enemies within range for 3 seconds and additional dmg to shield.” Another taunting ability just like Urek Mazino, these 2 characters have quite a lot in common. His passive ability Increases his defense by 200 points and provides an extra 20% physical damage reduction. Lastly, his weapon TR skill states the following – “Increases normal attack power for 7 seconds, Deals [100% Physical dmg] to enemies within range 2 times, recover [5% of total hp] health 2 times and additional dmg to shield.”

White – Legendary Character

White is a Legendary rarity hero that is classified as a Physical DPS type in-game. White is one of the newest characters that were added to the game. Nonetheless, his skills already scream power creep with such good damage multipliers and extra effects. His 1st skill states the following – “Deals [120% (420%) Physical dmg] to enemies within range and if no enemy is in melee range, reset the cooldown of this skill.” In many instances, players will encounter ranged enemies. White can potentially continuously use his 1st skill over and over. His 2nd skill states the following – “Deals [120% (437.5%) Physical dmg] to enemies within range and recovers [10% (40%) of attack power] health.” After transcending this skill, White can also inflict a Silence debuff on the enemy’s hit. White’s passive ability states that at the start of every battle, he gains Immunity for 7 seconds and a 60% damage increase buff that lasts for 7 seconds. White’s weapon TR skill states the following – “Increases normal attack power and applies stealth effect for 7 seconds, Deals [180% Magic dmg] to enemies within range, recovers [30% of attack power] health and increases [0 (60) + 0 per character level (0.5)] attack for 7 seconds.”

Kang Horyang – Heroic Character

Kang Horyang is a Heroic rarity hero that is classified as a Magic Tank type in-game. Kang Horyung might be the first great Heroic rarity character that can be acquired at the start of the game. He deals magic damage and can act as a great tank/frontline for your team. However, he can only absorb magic damage well but fails to work against enemies dealing physical damage. His 1st skill states the following – “Rush to the target and deal [100% (302.5%) Magic dmg”. His 2nd skill states the following – “Deals [75% (226.88%) Magic dmg] to enemies within range, taunt for 3 seconds and additional dmg to shield”. After being transcended, both of these skills deal additional Magical damage to enemies. Kang Hoyang’s passive skill increases his Defense by 200 points and provides him with a 30% magic damage reduction after being transcended.

Novick – Heroic Character

Novick is a Heroic rarity hero that is classified as a Physical DPS type in-game. Novick is a weird mix of physical damage dealers that can also somewhat tank but not quite efficiently. His 1st skill states the following – “Deals [50% (151.25%) Physical dmg] 4 times and additional shield damage.” After transcending, this skill also gets a knockback effect added that can disrupt the positioning of the enemies. His 2nd skill states the following – “Deals [50% (151.25%) Physical dmg] to enemies within range 5 times and additional dmg to shield.” Novick’s passive ability states he gains 100 points of Defense and 30% physical damage reduction. Hence, he can act like a bruiser that can deal damage while also taking some hits in return.

Emerald Ocean Yeon Yihwa – Legendary Character

Emerald Ocean Yeon Yihwa is a Legendary rarity hero that is classified as a Magical DPS type in-game. Being one of the few limited-time characters released in the game, Emerald Ocean Yeon Yihwa is certainly a top-tier pick for any team. Her 1st skill states the following – “Reduces [5% (20%)] physical dmg taken for all allies for 5 seconds and increases [10% (50%)] critical dmg resistance for 5 seconds.” Providing a ton of physical damage reduction with just her 1st skill is amazing. Her 2nd skill states the following – “Deals [150% (525%) Magic dmg] and knockback all enemies within range”. After being transcended, this skill can even Stun all enemies hit for 2 seconds. This skill alone makes her a force to be reckoned with. Emerald Ocean Yeon Yihwa’s weapon TR skill states the following – “Increases normal attack power for 7 seconds, Deals [75% Magic dmg] to all enemies 2 times and Increases [0 (12) + 0 per character level (0.2)] all allies attack for 7 seconds.”

Waterbomb Commander Xiaxia – Legendary Character

Waterbomb Commander Xiaxia is a Legendary rarity hero that is classified as a Magical DPS type in-game. Her 1st skill states the following – “Deals [45% (157.5%) Magic dmg] to the nearest enemy 2 times”. Upon being transcended, this skill deals an additional 100% magical damage to 2 more enemies. Her 2nd skill states the following – “Deals [40% (140%) Magic dmg] to enemies within range 6 times and reduces [3% (10%)] defense for 5 seconds.” Upon being transcended, this skill increases Waterbomb Commander Xiaxia’s magical damage by 15%. Her passive ability permanently increases her overall magical damage dealt by 45%, making her one of the highest magical damage dealers purely based on stats. Waterbomb Commander Xiaxia’s weapon TR skill states the following – “Increases normal attack power and applies stealth effect for 7 seconds, Deals [75% Magic dmg] to all enemies 3 times and Increases [0 (12) + 0 per character level (0.2)] all allies attack for 7 seconds”

B Tier Characters

Khun Aguero Agnis – Heroic Character 

Khun Aguero Agnis is a Heroic rarity hero that is classified as a Magical DPS type in-game.  His 1st skill states the following – “Deals [75% (226.88%) Magic dmg] to enemies within range 2 times”. Upon being transcended, he gains 20% of the damage dealt back as life recovered. His 2nd skill states the following – “Recovers [100% (200%) of attack power] health”. One of the strong suits of Khun Aguero Agnis is his ability to self-sustain. After being transcended, this skill further provides him with a 50% continuous recovery effect for 8 seconds. Make sure to build him with high attack power for more healing through his skills. His passive ability increases the Life recovery effect of all allies by 35% which is unusual for a hero like Khun Aguero Agnis that does not have any ally recovery skills. Nevertheless, he works well with other healers on the team.

Rachel – Heroic Character

Rachel is a Heroic rarity hero that is classified as a Magical DPS type in-game. Rachel is given to all players for free at the start of the game. She’s a decent AOE-targeted damage dealer that can reduce the movement speed of enemies in an area. Her 1st skill states the following – “Deals [100% (302.5%) Magic dmg] to enemies within range and reduces [15% (45%)] enemy movement speed for 8 seconds.”. Upon being transcended, this skill further reduces the movement speed of enemies by another 50%. Her 2nd skill states the following – “Deals [50% (150%) Magic dmg] around the target”. Upon being transcended, this skill also reduces the movement speed of enemies by 50% for 8 seconds. Rachel’s passive ability states that she gets an overall boost of 45% for her magic attack. 

Hatz – Heroic Character

Hatz is a Heroic rarity hero that is classified as a Physical DPS type in-game. Hatz is a decent early-game assassin type character that can make wonders for a new player. However, his usability falls off very fast as you progress in the game. He has lackluster base stats and abilities, to say the least. His 1st skill states the following – “Increases [15% (45%)] Physical dmg for 8 seconds”. Upon being transcended, this skill gets an additional 15% attack boost and 30% critical hit damage boost for 8 seconds each. Hatz’s 2nd skill states the following – “Deals [150% (453.75%) Physical dmg] to the enemy with the lowest HP”. Upon being transcended, this skill deals an additional 50% damage to the target. His passive ability states that Hatz gets an increased 35% critical hit damage, making him deal some crazy critical hit damage, especially with his 1st skill active.
