Roblox Grow a Garden Kitchen Storm Update: New Features, Pets, and Seeds

The Kitchen Storm Update for Grow a Garden went live on August 9, 2025, building upon the earlier Trading and Cooking Event Update. This new patch introduced a variety of fresh features, including the arrival of the Rat Connoisseur, additional pets, seeds, and a host of quirky content. The update was preceded by a wave of chaotic admin events, setting the stage for one of the game’s most entertaining releases yet.
The Build-Up to the Kitchen Storm Update
The days leading up to the Kitchen Storm were anything but average. Because the developers decided to allow many events to run concurrently, the pre-update period became a flurry of activity. While longstanding gamers are accustomed to developer Jandel’s admin abusing events and restocks, this time another personality—Albert—has joined the conflict.
Though the event started slightly later than intended, it swiftly intensified. Players witnessed the entrance of the Junkbot Raid, as well as new weather phenomena such as Oil and Boil Rain. Those who were active prior to the upgrade had two options for earning unique rewards: the Junkbot pet and the Flamingo Garden Stake Cosmetic. Both Jandel and Albert distributed them during the pandemonium and again shortly before the upgrade was released.
The Rat Connoisseur and Mutated Meals
The headline addition in this update is the Rat Connoisseur, who takes the cooking system to the next level. Instead of simply aiming for Prismatic or Transcendent recipes, players must now work with mutated meals. The Cooking Pot has been upgraded with a mutation gauge, showing how much mutation a meal has accumulated. Adding mutated fruit to the pot increases this gauge, producing unique dishes specifically designed for the Rat Connoisseur.
New Kitchen-themed Cosmetics
Following on from the Food Crate introduced earlier, the new Kitchen Crate delivers food-inspired décor perfect for designing a culinary corner in your garden. You can unlock the Kitchen Crate by giving mutated meals to the Rat Connoisseur. The crate contains seven possible cosmetics with varying drop rates:
- Frying Pan – 17.48%
- Pizza Box – 17.48%
- Sink Cabinet – 13.99%
- Stove – 13.99%
- Fridge – 13.99%
- Cabinet Utensil – 13.99%
- Donut Swing – 6.99%
New Pets
As expected, Grow a Garden continues its tradition of adding whimsical pets. Following the spaghetti-themed sloth from the last patch, the Kitchen Storm update introduces the Bacon Pig—a pig wrapped in bacon, staying true to the game’s quirky humor. Three pets can be unlocked from the Culinarian Chest:
- Bacon Pig – 34.5%
- Hotdog Dachshund – 14.5%
- Lobster Thermidor – 1%
Meanwhile, two other pets are earned through Rat Connoisseur rewards:
- Sunny-Side Chicken
- Gorilla Chef
New Seeds and Crops
This update also brings several fresh crops to cultivate, divided between the Culinarian Chest and Rat Connoisseur rewards.
From the Culinarian Chest:
- Rhubarb
- Badlands Pepper
- King Cabbage
From the Rat Connoisseur:
- Butternut Squash
- Spring Onion
- Pricklefruit
- Bitter Melon
The Kitchen Storm Event
The namesake feature of this patch is the Kitchen Storm weather event. Players can trigger it by handing meals to Chris P., with rarer meals contributing more points toward the Kitchen Storm Meter displayed above his head.
Once the meter fills, the storm erupts—bringing faster cooking speeds, a higher chance for mutations to carry over into meals, and the chance for fruits to gain the Aromatic mutation. The storm can be leveled up by continuing to feed Chris P. meals, although it will gradually subside over time. If left unattended, the storm either ends completely or drops back to its previous level.
Players can enjoy playing Grow a Garden and other similar Roblox games on a bigger screen of their PC or Laptop via BlueStacks along with your keyboard and mouse.
