AION 2 went live worldwide on October 5, 2026, and the first big decision is the class. There are eight to choose from, and a class cannot be swapped once the character is made. This AION 2 class guide breaks down every class, its role and key skills, and where it ranks for PvE and PvP in the current Global meta.

AION 2 Class Tier List for PvE and PvP (October 2026)

PvE rankings weigh group dungeon value, boss damage, and solo comfort. PvP rankings weigh burst, control, mobility, and how well each class performs across Arena, open world roaming, and Abyss fights.

TIER PvE CLASSES PvP CLASSES
S Templar, Cleric, Chanter Assassin, Gladiator, Sorcerer
A Gladiator, Sorcerer, Ranger Cleric, Templar, Ranger, Spiritmaster
B Assassin, Spiritmaster Chanter

No class is weak in AION 2, and the gaps between tiers are small. A B tier class in skilled hands will beat an S tier class played poorly. The Global meta is still young, so expect some shifts as balance patches roll in.

AION 2 Frontline Classes: Templar and Gladiator

Templar

PvE Tier: S | PvP Tier: A

blog-image-AION2_Article_ClassTierList_EN02

Templar is the only dedicated tank in AION 2. It fights with a longsword and shield, holds the boss’s attention, and keeps it turned away from the party. Its damage loop is easy to follow: shield attacks like Shield Smite, Warding Strike, and Doom Shield unlock Judgment, so the rotation keeps switching between shield hits and Judgment. Punishment adds a damage buff, Taunt keeps the boss locked on, and Nezekan’s Shield protects nearby party members when a big hit is coming.

Templar lands in S tier for PvE because every serious dungeon group needs a tank, and that demand does not change when damage numbers get patched. The downside is slow solo farming. In PvP, pulls, Taunt, and shields let it drag a healer or caster out of position, which can swing an Abyss team fight. It struggles to finish kills in duels though, which keeps it in A tier.

Gladiator

PvE Tier: A | PvP Tier: S

blog-image-AION2_Article_ClassTierList_EN03

Gladiator swings a greatsword and blends heavy melee damage with enough health and defense to work as an off tank. Rending Blow hits groups of enemies, Overhead Slam is the main damage skill, and Ruinous Blow grants a short PvE damage buff. The Rage Burst Stigma opens repeated Overhead Slam attacks, while Focused Block soaks heavy hits. The rotation is simple, and the class forgives mistakes better than any other damage dealer.

That makes Gladiator the safest pick for beginners and one of the best solo farmers. It drops to A tier for group PvE because parties value dedicated tanks, healers, and buffers more, and melee uptime suffers on bosses that move a lot. PvP is where it truly shines. Blade Toss lowers a target’s Defense and incoming healing, while knockdowns and gap closers keep Gladiator glued to its target in duels and roaming fights.

AION 2 DPS Classes: Assassin, Ranger, Sorcerer, and Spiritmaster

Assassin

PvE Tier: B | PvP Tier: S

blog-image-AION2_Article_ClassTierList_EN04

Assassin wields two daggers and lives on stealth, speed, and attacks from behind. Savage Roar and the Savage Fang Stigma build Insignia stacks, and Insignia Explosion cashes them in for a big hit. Heart Gore becomes available after critical hits, and pairing Illusive Clone with Swift Contract lets it fire Heart Gore again and again during burst windows. Ambush and Shadowstrike help it slip behind the target.

The B tier PvE spot is about party value, not damage. Assassin currently holds the highest recorded boss damage on Global servers, but it adds little utility to a group and falls behind against packs of enemies. It is also the hardest class to learn. In PvP, it is a top pick. Stealth lets it choose when a fight starts, and its burst and anti heal tools delete squishy targets like Sorcerers and Clerics. If the opening attack fails, it gets caught and dies fast.

Ranger

PvE Tier: A | PvP Tier: A

Ranger is the bow user and one of the safest ranged mains in AION 2. Marking Shot grants Precision for better critical hits, Gale Arrow boosts combat speed and damage, and Deadshot hits much harder while Precision is active. Snare Shot slows or roots enemies, and several Ranger attacks deal bonus damage to targets held in place.

Ranger is one of the best classes for solo farming and keeps attacking while bosses move around, which holds it in A tier for PvE even without the highest raw damage. In PvP, range, stealth access, and slows let it kite melee players and punish them as they close in. Once a Gladiator or Assassin reaches it, though, Ranger has to escape fast. Players who like ranged combat and want an easy start should pick it.

Sorcerer

PvE Tier: A | PvP Tier: S

Sorcerer carries a spellbook and brings huge AoE burst plus deep crowd control. The fire build centers on Hellfire for burst, with Firestorm cutting its cooldown and Blaze and Flame Arrow filling the gaps. Element Enhancement goes up before each burst. MP needs watching too, since the Grace of Enhancement passive boosts damage only while MP stays high.

In PvE, Sorcerer melts groups when it can stand still and cast, but it loses damage on bosses that force constant movement, and its low defense punishes bad positioning. It is still the most common class among the top 1,000 Combat Power characters in one large tracked Global sample. In PvP, Polymorph, airborne effects, and slows set up deadly spell combos, which makes it a menace in Arena and in Abyss fights with a frontline to hide behind. A diver who gets past that frontline can still take it down quickly.

Spiritmaster

PvE Tier: B | PvP Tier: A

blog-image-AION2_Article_ClassTierList_EN07

Spiritmaster uses an orb and fights alongside summoned spirits. Some older guides call it the Elementalist, but it is the same class. Each spirit has a job: Water for single targets, Fire for groups, Earth for tanking, and Wind for sustain. The damage loop keeps Jointstrike: Curse and other damage over time effects running while building Four Elements to fire Elemental Fusion. Summon: Ancient Spirit is saved for big damage windows.

The spirit pulls enemy attention away from the player, which makes Spiritmaster one of the best solo classes in the game. Group PvE is a different story, since its damage arrives slowly and lacks the burst needed for tight boss phases, and it has no movement skill to fix bad positioning. In PvP, Fear, Seal, and buff removal can break apart an organized enemy group in the Abyss. In duels, it struggles if a melee class reaches it before the control is set up.

AION 2 Healer and Support Classes: Cleric and Chanter

Cleric

PvE Tier: S | PvP Tier: A

blog-image-AION2_Article_ClassTierList_EN08

Cleric is the main healer of AION 2 and fights with a mace. Healing Light is its main short cooldown heal, Radiant Recovery helps the whole group, and the Resurrection Stigma brings fallen allies back. Between heals, Chain of Torment weakens the boss so the whole party deals more damage, while Condemnation and Judgment Thunder add damage of its own.

Cleric is a must in hard group content, and it pairs perfectly with a Templar to form a very sturdy duo. Its personal damage is low, so solo farming takes longer. Recent healing nerfs also mean it can no longer erase every mistake in PvP, and it lacks the damage to finish duels quickly. Inside an organized group, though, healing, cleansing, and resurrection make it one of the most valuable players in any Abyss fight.

Chanter

PvE Tier: S | PvP Tier: B

blog-image-AION2_Article_ClassTierList_EN09

Chanter swings a staff and mixes melee damage with strong party buffs. Undefeated Mantra is its signature buff and a big reason groups want one. Spinning Strike and Impactful Crush open Dark Crush, and Spinning Strike also stacks a Critical Damage boost. Power of the Storm and Fracturing Blow are best saved for party burst windows, while Recuperation handles emergency healing and cleansing.

Chanter turned out to be the biggest surprise of the Global launch. Its buffs lift the whole party, and it posts some of the highest boss damage records on Global servers, which earns it S tier in PvE. It still cannot replace a Cleric as the main healer. In PvP, Chanter is a jack of all trades: Cleric heals better, and the DPS classes kill faster. Several of its older PvP strengths were also toned down, though it climbs higher in coordinated groups that make full use of its buffs.

Best AION 2 Class for Every Playstyle

  • Beginners: Gladiator, or Ranger for players who prefer range
  • Solo farming: Spiritmaster and Gladiator, with Ranger close behind
  • Tanking: Templar, the only dedicated tank
  • Healing: Cleric, the only dedicated healer
  • Party support: Chanter, for buffs that lift the whole group
  • Highest boss damage: Assassin, for players who can handle a hard rotation
  • Roaming PvP: Assassin and Gladiator
  • Group PvP and Abyss: Cleric, Sorcerer, and Spiritmaster
  • Fastest group finder: Templar and Cleric, since tanks and healers are always in short supply
