The latest hyped title among the mobile gaming community is  Counterside, a live 2D SRPG game by StuioBside which is getting a global release on 27th May 2022. Players can collect and strengthen multiple characters called “Employees”, suited for a game that sees the player as the CEO of a mercenary organization approved by the government administration to save our Planet Earth against a foreign threat known as Counter Side. Counterside is available as a free-to-play title on both Google Play Store and iOS App Store.

Counterside is a great SRPG game where players can deploy their employees on different battlefields and each employee costs a certain amount of Deploy Cost. The Employees will then fight waves of enemies and eventually reach the enemy’s battleship to destroy it and win the battle. The same can also happen to your own Battleship if you have weak employees which get assassinated by the enemies. The majority of the fights are decided even before the battle starts if the player has a solid formation which consists of those types of units that have an advantage over the enemy units. 

Players can collect different types of units and different employees come in different tiers and categories. The gacha system is the primary way of obtaining these different units. The gacha states the following rates to recruit units:

• SSR Characters– 3.5% Probability to summon
• SR Characters – 15% Probability to summon
• R Characters – 39% Probability to summon
• N Characters – 42.5% Probability to summon                            

The gacha system of Counterside is divided into different types of banners with each banner having its own pool of employees from which players can summon. Different banners exist in Counterside for different purposes. The 4 main banners are as follows:

• Selective Recruitment
• Normal Recruitment
• Classified Recruitment
• Rate-up Banners

Now each of these banners plays a specific role in the game. For example, Selective recruitment is extremely helpful for new players who have no idea who to get or reroll for. It gives players 30 chances to summon 10 different employees each time and players can choose their favorite set of heroes only once from the 30 times. Do remember that players can only get certain units in this type of recruitment and not all the units. In Normal recruitment, players can get all the units in-game except Awakened units and limited-time units. The rates remain the same for all rarities on all banners. 

In this tier list for Counterside, we will mention the best heroes to choose in your formation according to their performance in both PvE and PvP aspects of the game. This tier list will strictly include heroes that are available in the global server of Counterside at the time of writing. We advise players to make their own choices according to their own expectations but feel free to take references from this tier list.

S Tier Heroes

In this tier, all heroes which have exceptional performance in both PvE and PvP content are included. These heroes not only possess some of the best skills and base stats but also shine in any formation individually. These heroes fulfill more than 1 role in any formation and are at the top of their class. This tier includes the following heroes:

Nanahara Chifuyu

Nanahara Chifuyu is an SSR grade Counter that is classified as a Striker in-game and is from the Nanahara Family Alliance faction. Her main domain for attacking and movement is on the ground. Nanhara Chifuyu is an excellent debuffer and crowd control chaining unit that can also play as a secondary tank due to her sturdy base stats. Her basic attacks are AOE targeted damaging attacks that target all enemies in range. Her ultimate skill Exquisite: Flower Strike is also an AOE targeted damaging skill that deals damage to all enemies as well as grants her Attack Speed bonus of 30% for 15 seconds. Her passive ability Cherry Blossom Slash states that every 2nd basic attack that Nanahara performs, she will reduce enemy defense by 10% for 4 seconds and stun one of the targets she hits for 1 second. 

Yang Harim

Yang Harim is an SSR grade Counter that is classified as a Supporter in-game and is from the White Rabbit faction. Her main domain for attacking is All domains and for movement is on the ground. Yang Harim is currently the best available support unit as she gives an amplitude amount of buffs, heals, shields, etc while also giving enemies some debuffs to weaken them. Her basic attacks are divided into 2 parts – A machine gun that launches attacks on enemies in the air for 5 seconds and a sword that deals AOE damage to enemies in front of her. Her ultimate skill Time For An All-Out Attack is a buffing/attacking skill that provides a 20% Attack boost for 15 seconds, inflicts AOE targeted damage to all enemies and reduces their Skill Haste by 20% for 15 seconds. Her passive skill Cheerful Friends summons allies who help Yang Harim and the team by dealing damage to enemies. Their attacks will reduce enemy Attacks by 10% for 5 seconds. 

Seo Yoon

Seo Yoon is an SSR grade Counter that is classified as a Ranger in-game and is from the ALT Squad faction. Her main domain for attacking is All domains and for movement is on the ground. Her basic attacks deal single targeted damage except for the last attack which fires a bullet that deals AOE damage around the target dealing damage to all enemies. Her ultimate ability Suppressive Fire states that Seo Yoon will fire all weapons that are available with the current team and deal AOE targeted damage that targets all enemies. Her passive ability Tactical Leader states that when Seo Yoon is deployed on the battlefield, she will increase the Attack of all allies by 20% for 10 seconds. Her Special skill Multi Grenades is also an AOE targeted damaging skill that deals damage to all enemies and reduces their Attack Speed by 20% for a duration of 10 seconds.

Xiao Lin

Xiao Lin is an SSR grade Counter that is classified as a Sniper in-game and is from the ALT Squad faction. Her main domain for attacking and movement is on the ground. Xiao Lin excels at immobilizing enemies and inflicting them with various debuffs. Her basic attacks make use of the rifle to deal single targeted damage to the enemy. Her ultimate skill Door Knocker is an AOE targeted damaging skill that deals damage to all enemies and knocks the enemies who are hit backward. Her passive ability Falcon Insight states that like a true sniper Xiao Lin will increase the power of her Basic attack up to a maximum of 20% depending on the distance between her and the target. Her special skill Mozambique Drill is a triple hitting single targeted damaging skill that can’t deal damage to targets that exceed its Valid Hit counter.

Evelyn Keller

Evelyn Keller is an SR grade Counter that is classified as a Supporter in-game and is from the Strega faction. Her main domain for attacking is the Ground and for movement is in the Air. Evelyn Keller, although being of a lower rarity is still predominantly an amazing healer and buffer which can help keep your units alive for a long time. Her basic attacks deal AOE targeted damage to all enemies on the ground. Her ultimate skill Hermes Trismegistus is a great healing/attacking skill that states Evelyn Keller will restore the HP of all allies except herself by 30% and deal an AOE targeted damaging attack on the enemies. Her passive ability Heiress of the Emerald Text states that every 3rd basic attack, she will restore the HP of allies by 2%.

A Tier Heroes

In this tier, we will cover heroes that are quite strong in their skill set or are great for particular content. These heroes are still amazing at what they do but do not shine particularly in both types of content. This tier includes the following heroes:

Gaeun

Gaeun is an SSR grade Counter that is classified as a Ranger in-game and is from the HRT Berry faction. Her main domain for attacking is All domains and for movement is on the ground. Her basic attacks make use of the Pistol weapon to deal single targeted damage. Her ultimate ability Prestissimo is an AOE targeted damaging skill that shoots multiple projectiles at randomized enemies dealing damage. Her passive skill Quarter Note states that her 3rd basic attack deals AOE damage to all enemies surrounding the target as well as reduces Attack speed by 10% for 4 seconds.

Lin Xien

Lin Xien is an SR grade Counter that is classified as a Striker in-game and is from the Freedom Riders faction. Her main domain for attacking and movement is on the ground. Lin Xien is a good crowd control fighter that can also recharge Deployment costs and acts as a battery. Her basic attacks deal AOE targeted damage to enemies and knock them backward with the use of a shotgun. Her ultimate skill I Have a Lot of Money is a great recharging skill as it instantly restores 3 deployment costs. Her passive ability Continental Heiress states that when Lin Xien is deployed on the battlefield, she immediately recharges 1 deployment cost.

Nanahara Chinatsu

Nanahara Chinatsu is an SSR grade Counter that is classified as a Supporter in-game and is from the Nanahara Family Alliance. Her main domain for attacking is All domains and for movement is on the ground. Nanahara Chinatsu is a great debuff hero and an able crowd control user. Her basic attacks make use of the swords and deal single targeted damage to enemies in front. Her ultimate skill Dance of Tiger Lily sees her transform into a tornado dealing AOE damage to enemies that touch her and around her while also restoring 30% HP of all allies except herself. The enemies hit by this skill get their Attack Speed reduced by 15% for 15 seconds. Her passive skill Song of Agave states that when Nanaharu Chinatsu is deployed on the battlefield, all allies gain 15% Damage resistance for 15 seconds.

Kyle Wong

Kyle Wong is an SSR grade Counter that is classified as a Ranger in-game and is from the Delta Seven faction. His main domain for attacking is All domains and for movement is on the ground. Kyle Wong is a great semi-tank unit. His basic attacks make use of the rifle to deal single targeted damage to the enemies in front. His ultimate skill Gravity Gun is an AOE targeted damaging skill that deals damage to all enemies who get hit by the projectile released by this skill. His passive ability Active Expansion makes him a great unit for PvE fights as he casts a buff on himself for 4 seconds with every basic attack. When this buff reaches 4 stacks, Kyle Wong deals additional damage to enemies equal to 6% of their current HP. This effect cannot be triggered for bosses and ships.

B Tier Heroes

In this tier, we will include heroes which are not bad but not the best. They should be avoided in case you have better alternatives as they can be inferior to other units mentioned above. They can still help new players a lot in progression but their value decreases as the player progresses farther into the game. This tier includes the following heroes:

Terminator 

Terminator is an SSR grade Soldier that is classified as a Striker in-game and is from the Black Tide faction. His main domain for attacking and for movement is on the ground. Terminator is one of the best tanks available in the game. If the value of tanks rises, then Terminator’s value will definitely increase as well. His basic attacks make use of the shotgun to deal AOE targeted damage to all enemies in front and knock them backward. His ultimate skill Indomitable Will states Terminator increases his own Defense by 60% inversely proportional to his MAX HP. His passive skill High-Strength Gun Barrel states that Terminator deals more damage to enemies closer to him and his attacks deal 5% more damage to Defenders.

Shin Jia

Shin Jia is an SSR grade Counter that is classified as a Ranger in-game and is from the Alphatrix Innovation faction. Her main domain for attacking is All domains and for movement is on the ground. Her basic attack makes use of the Rifle and deals single targets to the enemies in front. Her ultimate skill Special Bullet – ALP 001 deals AOE targeted damage which also knocks the enemies hit backward. Shin Jia’s passive ability Alphatrix’s Leader states she increases the Attack Speed of her and her allies by 7% permanently. 

Kim Sobin

Kim Sobin is an SR grade Counter that is classified as a Ranger in-game and is from the ALT Squad faction. Her main domain for attacking and movement is on the ground. Kim Sobin is a great DPS unit that can deal with DOT (Damage over time) as well as provide barriers for the team. Her basic attacks deal damage periodically and stop automatically if 10 seconds have passed, or if the enemy she has targeted dies or moves 9 meters away from her. Her ultimate skill Fire and Explosions states she mobilizes all weapons and deal AOE targeted damage to all enemies. Her passive ability Nice to Meet You states she fires a bazooka gun which deals AOE targeted damage to all enemies when she is deployed on the battlefield.

Elizabeth Pendragon

Elizabeth Pendragon is an SSR grade Counter that is classified as a Ranger in-game and is from the Prydwen Institution faction. Her main domain for attacking is All domains and for movement is on the ground. Elizabeth Pendragon is a decent crowd controller unit. Her basic attack is a multi-hitter single targeted damaging attack. Her ultimate skill Fallen Noble’s Lofty Sword is an AOE targeted damaging skill that deals damage to all enemies and has a chance of stunning the target for 5 seconds. Her passive ability Knife Ballare states that when Elizabeth Pendragon is deployed on the battlefield, she will launch an AOE targeted damaging ability at the location she is deployed at and then move back to another spot. 

Counterside is a grindy game that requires to be played for a long duration of time at a stretch in order to collect resources and make your heroes stronger.
