MLB® The Show™ Mobile Baseball has everything a baseball fan could want: over 900 collectible players, realistic and unique gameplay mechanics, and licensed in-game items. MLB® The Show™ Mobile Baseball is basically a game that asks you to do two things: collect baseball players and throw (or hit) the ball correctly. In our guide, we’ll cover these two mechanics that form the basis of the game.
Collecting New Baseball Players
If you want to add new baseball players to your team, there are four ways to do it:
- Player Packs: These packs contain baseball player cards. Players are divided into different rarity levels, meaning which ones you get from each pack is entirely random. You can buy Player Packs or earn them (as a reward) by playing in Season Mode.
- In-Game Missions and Milestones: Start with the Starter Program and continue with other Player Programs. Each of these contains small tasks and goals that you need to complete (for example, winning three games in a row). Successfully completed tasks and milestones will also reward you with new baseball players.

- Marketplace: You can sell your player cards in the marketplace or buy cards that other players have put up for sale. In-game currency is used for these transactions.
- Events: You can find many daily, weekly, and seasonal events in the game. When you participate in these, you can earn new player cards as rewards. Daily login rewards can also be a good source of cards.
Finally, we also recommend watching MLB The Show streams from official partners: if Drops are enabled, you can get new cards just by watching them.
Throwing the Ball Correctly
Collecting baseball players is just the beginning: you also need to play games with them and challenge either NPC teams or other players. To do this, you’ll sometimes need to throw the ball, and sometimes hit it. Let’s start with throwing. To throw a baseball, you first need to choose the pitch type. Your basic options are:
| PITCH TYPE | WHAT IT DOES | WHEN TO USE |
| 4 Seam Fastball | Straight & fast throw | Against hitters with high velocity |
| Cutter | Horizontal throw | Against same handed hitters |
| Sinker | Low throw | To induce ground balls low in the zone |
| Slider | Sharp & diagonal throw | Against same handed hitters |
| Knuckleball | Erratic throw that can go any direction | After any high velocity throw |
| Circle Changeup | Slow throw that drops fast | Against opposite handed hitters |
| Screwball | Exact opposite of Slider | Against right-handed hitters |

The Correct Way to Hit the Ball
Technically, hitting the ball is quite simple: you click and hold your PCI (Plate Coverage Indicator) and release when the ball enters the strike zone. While the mechanics are simple, it takes time to get used to and master. More importantly, it requires recognizing different pitch types. To be honest, you can’t learn to hit the ball correctly without plenty of practice. However, to make this process easier, you can try the following:
- You need to shift the PCI according to the pitch type and release at the right point. Don’t panic and try to make small, smooth changes. Sudden movements will cause the PCI to shift too much.
- Don’t release too early or too late. Follow the pitcher’s throw to master timing. Trigger the swing when the ball approaches the PCI.
- Switch between different camera angles and stick with the one you’re most comfortable with. Some angles may allow you to track the ball and the pitcher more easily.
Once again, practicing a lot is the only way to master your hits: make sure you’ve practiced enough before challenging real players or participating in games that will affect your rank.

The core mechanics of MLB® The Show™ Mobile Baseball are collecting baseball players, throwing the ball, and hitting the ball: for that reason, these are the things you need to learn and master first. Once you’ve grasped the basics, you can start enjoying the other things the game has to offer and the different game modes.
And, as always, remember to play MLB® The Show™ Mobile Baseball on your PC or Mac with BlueStacks, so you can get a smoother and more enjoyable experience. Use your keyboard & mouse or gamepad to control the game and navigate the interface!
