MLB® The Show™ Mobile Baseball is a mobile sports game that lets baseball fans build their own teams, collect over 900 baseball players, and challenge other players by mastering pitching and hitting. We already have a guide to help beginners grasp the basics of the game, so this time we want to share tips to make gameplay more enjoyable and efficient – let’s get started.

Mastering Pitching & Hitting

  • When hitting, focus on the moment the ball leaves the pitcher’s hand, not the strike zone. Keeping your eyes on the strike zone will almost always result in a missed hit.
  • Avoid sudden and quick movements when hitting. Your goal is to keep the circle on the screen in a position that aligns with the pitch trajectory. You can do this more easily with smooth movements.

  • Remember that you don’t have to hit every ball. You can intentionally miss the first or second pitch: this will allow you to identify pitch patterns and waste your opponent’s energy.
  • When choosing a pitcher, prioritize hard sinkers and sharp cutters. When playing against real players, these pitchers throw the hardest balls to hit.

Learn the Momentum Mechanics

Don’t waste your momentum meter early in the game or at random moments. Momentum should only be used in critical situations (e.g., when runners are in scoring positions). Wasting it early in a game will leave you unprepared for potential bad situations later on.

In this context, remember to use the “Risk It?” feature carefully. This feature allows you to try your luck at getting an extra base, but as the name suggests, it’s quite risky. If your runner doesn’t have elite Speed, we recommend not using it at all – there’s no point in taking unnecessary risks.

Take Advantage of Offline Content

If you’re losing too many matches in PvP mode, it means you’re not practicing enough. The easiest way to practice without affecting your rank is to take advantage of offline content. You can do this by using historical “Moments” or “Seasons” maps.

Furthermore, completing the small objectives within these contents (such as “perfect swing timing”) will give you free player cards. In other words, you don’t have to challenge other players as soon as you start the game: master all the mechanics first.

Optimize Your Deck

In MLB® The Show™ Mobile Baseball, you have to acquire Player Packs to obtain new baseball players. While buying them is the fastest way to get them, it’s not necessarily the most efficient. Furthermore, what you get from these packs purchased with real money is still a matter of chance.

Instead, use the Marketplace with in-game currency: many players put cards they don’t want up for sale at extremely low prices, and that unwanted card might be exactly what you need. Actively using the Marketplace is the easiest way to build a roster without spending almost any real money.

In this context, to optimize your player deck, focus on what the cards actually offer you, not their rank: high rank doesn’t always mean the best option. The most important attributes to look for in a hitter are high Contact and Clutch values. For fielders, pay attention to Reaction, and for catchers, focus on Pop Time.

Even if their rarity is low, focusing on the best values for each role when making your selections will allow you to build a much cleaner and stronger deck. If you’re buying cards with real money, opt for Gold cards with specific elite traits instead of very expensive Diamond cards. This option will yield much better results, especially for obtaining high-velocity pitchers.

Surprise Human Opponents with “Tunneling”

This is a technique used in real life. When playing against other players, your goal should be to throw balls that look the same (have the same animation) when they leave the pitcher’s hand, but then immediately change direction. This tunneling strategy works best with four-seam fastballs, cutters, and sliders, as they all look similar. By switching between these throw types, surprise your opponents and force them to guess.

Finally, as always, we recommend playing MLB® The Show™ Mobile Baseball on your PC or Mac with BlueStacks: this way you can benefit from the precision of a keyboard and mouse instead of unreliable touch controls.
