Star Sailors is a new mobile RPG offering a much more dynamic turn-based combat system than you’re used to, and dozens of characters to collect. How effective you are in battles depends on how powerful the characters you add to your team are and how well they synergize with each other. In our beginner guide, we discussed how the combat system works. This time, we want to share a list of the best heroes you can add to your team.

Tier System Explained

We will list Star Sailors characters by dividing them into three tiers. These tiers were created according to the following criteria:

• S-Tier: Characters that are quite difficult to obtain but that you will definitely want to have on your team. Regardless of the setup, they can carry the entire team on their own.
• A-Tier: Characters that are as good as S-Tier in most combat scenarios, but usually need to be used in a setup with specific characters to offer real benefit.
• B-Tier: Characters you’ll often obtain early and mid-game. They’ll be useful for a while, but should be replaced with an A or S-Tier character at the first opportunity.

Based on these explanations, our list includes the following heroes:

S-Tier Heroes

The characters in this tier consist of the following:

Jen

Jen’s active abilities are based on passively increasing her defense and using a portion of that increased defense to boost her damage output. Her ultimate ability deals heavy AoE damage to all enemies and increases her healing bonus by up to 20%. Currently, we can say that she is the best AoE tank in the game.

Heidi

Almost all of Heidi’s active abilities deal damage to multiple enemies simultaneously, and this damage can be further increased with ATK bonuses. Her ultimate skill increases this bonus up to 220% and also gives a 5% bonus to her crit rate. Heidi is currently the best AoE damage dealer in the game.

Kaira

Kaira offers both a satisfying level of damage output and a buff with each active ability. Using her, you can help your teammates recover health and gain up to 15% ATK increase. Her ultimate ability performs an AoE attack and restores 30% HP for the entire team.

A-Tier Heroes

Our list of A-tier characters includes the following:

Erling

Erling’s active abilities increase his own defense, inflict a debuff on enemies, and grant a buff to teammates. He can provide a shield to the entire team that is equal to 22% of his DEF. His ultimate ability deals AoE damage and inflicts a 5% RES debuff on enemies for 3 turns.

Ethan

Ethan is quite successful at dealing single-target damage and can also create a shield equal to 20% of his ATK. His ultimate ability deals 330% of his ATK as bonus damage, and while the shield is active, all enemies take 110% bonus damage. You can also use him as an off-tank.

Jerry

Jerry is incredibly successful at creating buffs that increase ATK. Thanks to the “Bravo” buff, she can increase her own damage by 50%. Her ultimate ability increases this boost to 150%. She mostly buffs herself, but if you use Ethan as an off-tank, she can easily fill the damage dealer gap on your team.

B-Tier Heroes

The heroes featured in our final tier are:

Rak

Rak is quite good at using auto-taunts; almost every ability of his makes all enemies focus solely on him. He can use a certain percentage of his HP to increase his damage. His ultimate ability increases his HP by 20% and lets him attack three more times.

Soul

Soul is a hero whose damage increases according to his HP. For example, at 100% HP, he deals 22% of his ATK as bonus damage 3 times. When his ultimate ability is activated, he can do this six times. You need to constantly monitor his HP, but when used correctly, he can deal very high damage.

Nadia

Nadia applies different debuffs to enemies with her attacks. For example, she makes them take 15% more damage and grants a +1 chain bonus. Her ultimate ability increases the chain bonus to +2 and deals an additional 330% ATK to a single enemy.
