Com2US just released their real-time strategy RPG Summoners War: Lost Centuria in the global market for both Android and iOS. It is a new free-to-play game with real-time combat between monsters from the popular Summoners War franchise. Summoners War: Lost Centuria features monsters from its parent game Summoners War as well many mechanics like the rune system. Players get to customize their favourite monsters and make their own “formations” which are a combination of different monsters and spells combined.

Summoners War: Lost Centuria is a full PvP game with little to offer in terms of PvE elements. It requires players to pay attention to the game and no form of automation is available except for the monster’s basic skills. It is supposedly a very competitive game with Ranked mode where players battle it out against each other in real-time using their formations. Players can expect great events and bonuses along the way as they play the game. The game has in-built features which reward players the more they play and the amount of gameplay effectively has no limit since it does not take into effect any form of energy/stamina system.

Summoning and Different Types of In-game Currencies

Summoners War: Lost Centuria has a hero collector/gacha functionality to it as it requires players to summon various monsters using the Summon Tab. Players have to summon for both monsters as well as spells using different currencies. Mystical Books, Ancient Books, Glory Points, and Crystals are different currencies using which players can summon monsters as well as spells. These currencies are fairly easy to obtain starting and players can gather more of the premium currency called “Crystals” via completing different events and winning in Ranked matches. The second main currency called “Mana Stones” is used for upgrading units, upgrading spells, enhancing runes, and buying items at the Magic Shop. Mana Stones can be obtained from playing rank mode/normal matches, events, and compensations.

For the basics, players need to know that in the beginning players are given a tutorial to explain all the existing battle mechanics for Summoners War: Lost Centuria. Players will get mystical books and crystals after completing the beginner tutorial in your mailbox. Players can try to reroll for a legendary tier monster with this currency. Players will also get more mystical scrolls and crystals for pre-register rewards as the game is still new. They will also get a lot of Login bonuses including a 14-day login bonus giving Legendary monster cards and a copy of Lapis, a strong water 4-star DPS monster that specializes in dealing damage to the frontline while providing Shield to herself according to the damage she deals. The next currency used in Summoners War: Lost Centuria is called “Mystical Dust”, which is used as a material for crafting runes in the Craft building.

Mystical dust can be obtained by completing missions in the mission office. Alliance Coin is another currency that is used for buying items at the Alliance Shop. Players can earn Alliance Coins after joining an Alliance and giving support to other members in the Alliance Trading Post. Glory Medals is the currency that is earned by playing PvP matches, be it Ranked or Normal mode. This can be considered as a replacement for Stamina/Energy as players can only earn a handful amount at a time and it recharges over time. Glory Medals are used for opening Glory Chests which can give heroes of rarity Normal-Epic.

Leveling-up Monsters and Spells

Players can level up their monsters and spells using their duplicate shards/fragments. These can be obtained via summoning or through summoning tickets. Players need a certain amount of Mana Stones to level up both monster cards and spell cards. The cost increases for both the duplicate shards and mana stones as the level increases. The maximum a monster or spell can level up to is Level 15. Players can also equip their monsters with their skill stones which come in different rarities – Rare, Epic and Legendary. Depending on rarity, they enhance monsters’ abilities or stats directly.

Runes are also used for powering up the stats of monsters and providing them bonuses depending on the type of rune set used. Runes come in different rarities and sets as well. The rarities of runes are Normal, Rare, Epic, and Legendary. Runes have their base stats depending on the slot of the rune. Every monster can equip itself with 3 runes, each giving it HP%, Attack%, and Defense%. Runes also come with their substats, just like in Summoners War.

Players can use Enchantment Scrolls to upgrade substats of runes which also cost mana stones to upgrade. Players also have to upgrade the rune itself by enhancing it. Rune enhancing is done by fusing other runes with the rune you want to enhance which will enhance its base stat (HP%, ATK%, or DEF% depending on slot).

Battle Mechanics and Formations

The Battle mechanics for Summoners War: Lost Centuria is simple to understand but complicated to master. Players make a team formation of 8 heroes out of which 4 monsters stay in the frontline and 4 monsters in the backline. Players can also take up to 3 spells in their formations. Summoners War: Lost Centuria is a real-time PvP game where 2 players engage in a real-time battle between their selected formations. It features a unique system called “Counter” which is essentially countering the other player’s monster skill using your skill card. It’s highly dependent on the timing as every card has its time gates and players need to master the timing to effectively counter their opponents.

Players can also further strategize their monsters by equipping them with runes. Runes come in different rarities and grades as well.

Types of Modes of Gameplay

Summoners War: Lost Centuria is a real-time game but it does not mean that it only has PvP modes. Players can engage in PvE content as well and get amazing rewards like Skill stone tickets and legendary card summon tickets. These PvE modes include the Single-Mode which consists of Siege Battle and Wanted modes. Siege battle is essentially like a campaign mode where players have to 3-star different stages of different chapters and earn generous rewards like Mana Stones, Crystals, and Glory chests. Players also get final rewards after completely 3-starring a chapter. Wanted mode is also available to players who have beaten the first boss of the first chapter in Siege battle. Other bosses get unlocked in Wanted mode as players defeat the subsequent bosses. Currently, there is an event going on where players get rewarded according to the number of wanted boss posters that get taken down.

Players mainly engage with other players in real-time PvP battles and these real-time battles feature 2 modes – Ranked and Normal Battles. The ranked mode gives players a competitive aspect to the game and gives generous rewards at the end of the season. Players can test out their new/existing formations and monsters by engaging in normal battles where they won’t risk losing their ranked trophies. Players can get Glory medals by playing these modes which can be used to open glory chests to obtain normal-hero tier monster cards.

Challenge Mode is another PvE mode where players duke it out with each other using their formations under special conditions. Each player is given a challenge, which can be in the form of debuff or buff or any special condition. Players have to strategize according to the different buffs and debuff pre-existing for the player. Players are rewarded in the form of Crystals, Mana Stones, Normal Cards, Winner’s Mark, and Hero Cards. These rewards are available up to 10 times in 4 days and after that, the cycle repeats itself.

Territory

The territory is a separate area in the game which gives players 3 new buildings and unlocks after completing the tutorial. The 3 buildings are the Missions office, Magic Shop, and Craft Building. Mission office is essentially an idle feature where players need to dispatch certain types of monsters for a certain amount of time and are rewarded by mystical dust and sometimes even runes. Craft Building is the place where players can craft different types and rarities of runes at a single time or 10 at a time using Mystical dust. These runes come in different sets like Blade, Swift, Energy, Will, Fatal, Rage, and Immunity. They play an important part in enhancing your monster’s stats and build to the strategic aspect of the game.
