PUBG Mobile 3.9 Beta Preview - Transformers Crossover and Cyberpunk Themes

While the 3.8 update was all about titans and steampunk themes, the new 3.9 beta for PUBG Mobile features giant armored vehicles, neon zones, hoverboards, and updated weapons, alongside a Transformers theme. Early access launched June 6, and the first wave of features is brimming with bold ideas meant to shake up how you play.
This article steps through the fresh content in the beta run, including the futuristic Neon Outpost, powerful vehicles, gear upgrades, and classic mode tweaks. Each section outlines what’s arriving and what to look out for before the full global release in July.
Neon Outpost: A Cyberpunk Playground
In the center of this update stands the Neon Outpost, a high-tech reimagining of the classic Erangel map featuring three distinct new zones: boxing ring, black market, and energy hub. As you land in this glowing maze, you’ll feel the energy right away. Neon lights and cyber decor set the tone, but it’s the interactive features that pull you in.
Inside the boxing ring’s building on the second floor is a timed core crate—players have to wait for the countdown, then race to open it before the other teams. The black market offers more than goods. You can grab an interstellar burger from the vending machine, a special consumable likely to give a short-edge buff. Meanwhile, the energy hub is patrolled by little bots you can ride on, adding a bit of playful chaos to the fight.
Astro Den: One-on-One Melee Challenge
Connected to the Neon Outpost are two Astro Dens: one inside and one outside. These fight zones force melee-only brawls with no ammo—just fists, knives, and whatever spawns. Think of it as a cyberpunk cage match with respawn mechanics. When your team goes down inside, you drop back onto the Neon Outpost and can keep playing until the timer ends. Survive ’til the end and you score rewards for your squad. It’s small-scale but intense, forcing close-quarters skill and smart timing.
New Cyberpunk-Themed Vehicles and Transformers
Vehicles get a huge upgrade in 3.9. The Mega Truck and Electromagnetic Tank each seat four players and can tank plenty of fire. These aren’t your grandma’s UAZs—they’re built to take hits and keep rolling.
The Mega Truck is repairable by team interaction, and if it breaks before the tank shows up, you can fix it mid-battle to bring it back. The Electromagnetic Tank adds firepower with charged rounds that pack a punch. These vehicle behemoths shake up group tactics. One squad in a tank can zone like a beacon, forcing enemies to bunch up or reroute. Using these strategically could completely turn a match’s flow.
Aside from these two powerful vehicles, players will also be able to morph into Transformers and wield their devastating firepower against their enemies. We’re not certain how the transformations are going to work when the update lands, but all we know is that they look absolutely amazing, especially if you’re playing on BlueStacks. So far, we’ve seen preview screenshots and videos of Optimus and Megatron duking it out.
Cosmic Hoverboard for Getting Around in Style
This new update is adding a Cosmic Hoverboard item aimed at improving how players move around on the map. The Cosmic Hoverboard is a new portable item that lets you glide across terrain at speed. However, you can’t use any of your weapons while riding, so it’s important to time its use correctly, lest you find yourself on the undesirable end of a firefight.
What makes it stand out are upgrades unlocked via hoverboard cores. These add a double jump, a dash boost, and longer hover time. These upgrades dramatically improve the functionality of the hoverboard and let you thrive in even more situations, such as by giving you new angles to approach engagements, as well as for repositioning and flanking, or simply for juking the enemy in close-quarters combat.
Weapon Update: ASM Abakan AR and Gear Tweaks
Classic mode gets attention too. The ASM Abakan AR takes center stage with a 5.56mm round and three firing modes—full-auto, single-shot, and a precise two-round burst fired with high accuracy. It brings a fresh twist and a versatile option for mid-range combat.
In addition, attachments have been rebalanced. Muzzles, grips, mags, and stocks saw changes, while sniper rifles now use unique barrel extenders offering more bullet damage. This shift means even familiar loadouts might feel different, so it’s worth testing before the global rollout.
New Vehicle Drifting Feature
Even old ride types get love. Motorcycles and bicycles now support drifting—start a slide, and your ride stays tilted briefly even if you shoot during the skid. That adds flow to high-speed chases and quick turns. Juke maneuvers or corner slides during combat are now more satisfying and can catch enemies off guard. With drift added to these nimble vehicles, expect mobility strategy to evolve.
How to Join the Beta
Access to the beta is available through the PUBG Mobile exclusive Discord community starting June 6. On this server, you’ll get official download links to test the early features and report feedback. It’s still under development, so expect bugs, balance shifts, and content adjustments before the full release.
For your convenience, of if you’re not keen on joining the Discord for whatever reason, here’s how to join the ranks of beta testers for PUBG Mobile:
- Download the PUBG Mobile Beta APK.
- Install it on your BlueStacks via the APK Installer (Ctrl + Shift + B while on BlueStacks)..
- Launch the game and log into your account (the beta is different from the main game so you might need to create a new character).
- After logging in, you will be able to access all the new features and previews.
As mentioned, there’s bound to be bugs in these beta versions, so feel free to report them in the corresponding channels on the PUBG Mobile Discord.
