Pouring a full stack of Mythical materials into the Forge and getting a Legendary back is one of the most painful moments in RAID: Shadow Legends. Help is finally on the way, as Plarium confirmed in October 2026 that Relic crafting is getting mercy protection. This RAID Shadow Legends Relic Crafting Mercy System guide covers how crafting works right now, what is known about the upcoming mercy, and how to save Forge materials until it arrives.

Does RAID Shadow Legends Have a Relic Crafting Mercy System Yet?

Not yet. As of writing, every Relic craft is still a straight roll with no bad luck protection. That changed on paper on October 22, 2026, when the RAID team used Telerian Podcast Episode 2 to announce Relic crafting mercy alongside a Relic rebalance. Plarium has not published the exact rules, so the trigger point, the boost per craft, and the release update are all unknown yet.

The road to this announcement was a long one, and Plarium openly refused the idea at first. See the entire timeline of RAID Relic forging system below:

Learn How the RAID Shadow Legends Relic Crafting System Works

Relics are crafted in the Forge using materials earned across different game modes. Every craft needs all four slots filled with 25 materials each, so one craft always costs 100 materials. Slots can mix any rarity or group, and that freedom is exactly where most materials get wasted.

These are the core rules behind every craft:

  • Fixed cost: 4 slots of 25 materials, so 100 materials per craft
  • Standard floor: There is always a 50% chance the Relic comes from the Standard group
  • Group cap: Group materials can raise that group’s chance up to 50%, never higher
  • Rarity push: Higher rarity materials raise the odds of a higher rarity Relic
  • Live odds: The crafting window shows rarity and group chances and updates with every change

Rarity decides how many Gemstone sockets a Relic gets and the rank it starts at. Every Relic can still be ranked up to Rank 6 and leveled to Level 18.

RELIC RARITY SOCKETS STARTING RANK
Rare 1 Rank 1
Epic 2 Rank 2
Legendary 3 Rank 3
Mythical 4 Rank 4

The Standard group holds 11 Relics, with Volcardiac Heart and Hallowed Hilt as its Mythicals. The Chimera group also holds 11, led by Stormcaller and Chronocube. Because of the 50% Standard floor, even a perfect Chimera craft lands on a Standard Relic half the time. For a refresher on how Relics first entered the game, the RAID Shadow Legends Relic system overview covers the basics.

RAID Shadow Legends Relic Groups and Where Materials Come From

Each Relic group is tied to its own crafting material, while the Standard group can roll from any material. Knowing the source of each one makes it easier to plan which crafts are worth doing.

RELIC GROUP CRAFTING MATERIAL MAIN SOURCE
Standard Any Relic material Rolled on every craft
Chimera Ocular Masses Chimera Chests and Chimera Trials
Clan Gilded Medallions Clan Shop
Live Arena Runed Obsidian Live Arena
Grim Forest Bloodbriars Daily Grim Forest stages
Faction Wars Faction Wars Relic materials Faction Wars Hard Mode
Event Event materials Limited time events

Mythical Ocular Masses come from Chimera Trials, which makes them the slowest material to stockpile. The RAID Shadow Legends Chimera guide breaks down how Trials work and how to clear more of them each week.

RAID Shadow Legends Relic Crafting Odds: Why Mixing Materials Wastes Them

The Forge weighs every slot by its rarity, and community testing by popular RSL content creator HellHades shows the math is far less forgiving than most players expect. Adding a weaker slot does not just lower the odds a little. It drags the whole craft down.

  • Full Mythical: All four slots Mythical gives a 20% Mythical chance, the best possible
  • One weak slot: Swapping one Mythical slot for a Rare one cuts the Mythical chance by more than half
  • Legendary materials: Lean toward Epic Relics more than Legendary ones
  • Epic materials: Offer middling value and rarely improve results
  • Rare materials: Only worth spending on Rare Relic crafts

Based on those findings, here is the best fill for each target:

TARGET RELIC BEST MATERIAL FILL
Mythical 4 Mythical slots
Legendary 4 Mythical slots still give the best odds
Epic 4 Legendary slots
Rare 4 Rare slots
Safe middle ground 2 Epic and 2 Legendary slots for a fair shot at Epic or Legendary

Even a perfect craft only hits Mythical one time in five on average. The table below uses that 20% rate to show how often long dry streaks happen.

FULL MYTHICAL CRAFTS IN A ROW CHANCE OF ZERO MYTHICALS
5 About 33%
10 About 11%
15 About 3.5%
20 About 1.2%
30 About 0.1%

A 10 craft drought happens to roughly one in nine players, so it is bad luck rather than a bug. During the first Telerian Podcast, the RAID team also pointed out that many reported dry streaks came from mixed material crafts, which have far lower Mythical odds to begin with.

What the RAID Shadow Legends Relic Mercy System Could Look Like

Plarium has confirmed the system exists, but almost every detail is still open. These are the questions players should watch for in the patch notes:

  • Trigger point: How many failed crafts it takes before mercy starts (TBA)
  • Boost size: How much the chance rises with each failed craft (TBA)
  • Rarity scope: Whether it covers only Mythical or Legendary as well (TBA)
  • Mixed crafts: Whether crafts with only some Mythical slots count (TBA)
  • Old crafts: Whether crafts made before launch count toward the counter (TBA)
  • Release: Which update brings it live (TBA)

The existing summon mercy is the closest reference point for how Plarium designs these systems.

SHARD RARITY MERCY STARTS AFTER BOOST PER PULL
Sacred Legendary 12 pulls +2%
Ancient and Void Epic 20 pulls +2%
Ancient and Void Legendary 200 pulls +5%

Best Ways to Save Forge Materials in RAID Shadow Legends

Most wasted materials come from rushed or mixed crafts. These habits keep every stack working as hard as possible while the mercy details are still unknown.

Never Mix Mythical Materials With Lower Ones

A Mythical slot paired with weaker slots loses most of its value. Wait until all four slots can be filled with Mythical materials, even if that means holding a partial stack for weeks.

Match the Fill to the Relic Target

Legendary materials are best used in full sets when the goal is an Epic Relic, and Rare materials belong in Rare crafts. Strong Epic Relics like Irethi Coronet and Scroll of the Unseen stay useful deep into the endgame, so full Legendary crafts are far from a waste.

Read the Odds Screen Before Every Craft

The crafting window shows the exact rarity and group chances for the current fill. Swapping a single slot and watching the numbers change takes seconds and prevents costly mistakes. The Info button also lists every Relic inside each group.

Hold Full Mythical Crafts Until the Mercy Rules Are Out

It is not yet confirmed whether crafts made before launch will count toward the mercy counter. Until Plarium shares the rules, holding full Mythical crafts is the lower risk choice. Rare, Epic, and Legendary crafts can carry on as normal.

Craft During Clan vs Clan Tournaments

Update 11.80 added Relic crafting and upgrade objectives to Clan vs Clan Tournaments. Saving crafts and upgrades for these windows lets the same materials power up Champions and earn tournament points at once, with Personal Reward tournaments being the best fit.

Keep a Small Reserve for Event Tasks

Events sometimes ask for a Relic craft as part of a quest or hunt, and the current Pumpkin Hunt even ties one of its clues to crafting a Relic. Keeping enough materials for one or two crafts avoids missing these easy rewards.

Turn Unwanted Relics Into Rank Up Fodder

Ranking a Relic up requires sacrificing Relics or Basalt of the same rank, and the number needed equals the current rank. Low value Standard pulls like Unholy Grail and Mask of Rage make perfect fodder, so spend Starstones only on Relics worth keeping.

Should You Craft or Hoard Relic Materials in RAID Shadow Legends?

Hoarding everything is not the answer either. Relics that sit uncrafted are not making any Champion stronger, and waiting for a system with no release date has a real cost. The smart approach is to hoard by rarity.

MATERIAL RARITY RECOMMENDATION REASON
Mythical Hold for now Mercy rules are TBA and these take the longest to farm
Legendary Craft during CvC Full Legendary sets give the best Epic odds
Epic Craft during CvC Pair 2 Epic with 2 Legendary for a balanced roll
Rare Craft freely Rare Relics make cheap rank up fodder

Farming more materials in the first place helps just as much as spending them wisely, and the RAID Shadow Legends farming guide covers the best routes for core resources.
